4.5 superb
CHON Grow
An amazing release, however a little disappointing with rerecorded songs, which keeps it from a classic.
Dance Gavin Dance Instant Gratification
Dance Gavin Dance's best advancement. Tilian has extremely catchy vocal lines and the guitar work is incredible while keeping it not overbearing.
Entities Luminosity Remastered
This album has showed me that great progressive metal does not always have to be utmost technical. Using non traditional key changes, Entities sculpts their own sound while retaining some of the most hard hitting grooves in progressive metal.
Evan Brewer Your Itinerary
A fantastic bass focused album that can appeal to all musicians.
Periphery Periphery II: This Time It's Personal
This is the album that got me into progressive metal. It is catchy, but still retains great guitar work. This album just falls a tad short of being a classic.
Save Us From The Archon Fear Eats the Soul
My favorite SUFTA release. SUFTA cuts the feedback ambience and focuses more on the flow of the music while continuing their signature sound.
The Contortionist Exoplanet
Another eye opener album. The gruesome breakdowns combined with the long clean ballads creates an atmosphere that just misses classic.
The Contortionist Language
A fantastically progressive album with an emphasis on beautiful. TC takes a route that leads them to a whole new sound.
The Dali Thundering Concept Eyes Wide Opium
This nearly misses classic. The album is absolutely phenomenal, but tends to have a few "cringy" transitions, such as in Bread, Games, and Narcolepsy after one of the breakdowns. Besides transitions, this album is exactly what I have always wanted my dream progressive metal band to sound like.
The Reign of Kindo Play With Fire
I love this album! It is catchy and pop-y yet it will never reach the radio. This band needs a lot more recognition. r
Thundercat The Golden Age Of Apocalypse
Thundercat combines feels with jazz fusion and creates a winner. This album, vocals or not, speaks to me in several ways.
Tigran Hamasyan Mockroot
A piano based album that seems to have progressive metal influences at times. This piano work can inspire all musicians regardless of instrument.
TTNG 13.0.0.0.0
I listened to this album thoroughly while on vacation and every song now reminds me of the beach and serene calm, especially Nice Riff, Clichard with the wave sounds intro. This album will always have emotional value and just falls short of a classic.
Veil of Maya [id]
An album that revolutionized my guitar playing and how I viewed guitar. I owe a lot of inspiration to this album and it will always have a place in my heart.
