Between the Buried and Me The Anatomy Of
If you like Counting Crows and Pink Floyd, you'll find only two songs on this record to be enjoyable.
Cynic Focus
As a young prog-nerd, the idea of Cynic excited me more than their actual music. Never quite got the hang of this one, probably because of the dated sound plus the vocoder being pretty lame. Some good moments, to be sure, ("Textures" in particular is excellent) but overall the songs languish. OK for a first full-length - I'm just happy they got back together and fully realized the interesting ideas they started with this record.
Dream Theater Systematic Chaos
Tally Hall Good & Evil
Too polished a product to be bad, but not enough song craft to be good. They had so much potential.
The Faceless Autotheism
Bandleader Michael Keene's new musical direction not being taken into consideration, THE SONGS JUST AREN'T THERE. So many lineup changes, and so much time between releases, and the follow-up to "Planetary Duality" just can't compete with its predecessor. "The Eidolon Reality" is the only track I was particularly excited by, and even then it's weighed down by the album's overall lackluster production.
