Makes up for Lift your Existence's sometimes repetitive nature by going way more ambient and
experimental, carrying a more raw production with it. Very powerful but not in the same way as

Hail the Sun Mental Knife
The band has regained a good deal of their adventurous sound that was in short supply on rCulture Scars. I think those looking for the same mood as Wake will forever be disappointed rconsidering how Donovan has turned to focusing his lyrics on social/mental issues. rBut regardless of your thoughts on the band's new lyrical themes, this is a damn good rlisten and the band is still one of the best in their scene. This is somewhere between a 3.5 and 4 for me

3.0 good
Circa Survive Violent Waves
Not awful, but so incredibly dull. The band's worst album by a long shot.
Circa Survive Descensus
Gojira Magma
Good Tiger We Will All be Gone
Gorillaz The Now Now

Puscifer Money Shot
At least as good, if not a little better than Conditions.
Thrice To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere

2.5 average
Deftones Gore
God-awful production and mixing really brings this album down.
Opeth Pale Communion
Too much of the album sounds like copycat 70's progressive rock. Otherwise, there are a few strong tracks.
Queens of the Stone Age Villains
Underoath Erase Me

2.0 poor
A Perfect Circle Eat the Elephant
Several qualities the band used to excel at (sounding inspired, varied and engaging drums, profound lyrics) are missing here. Sounds like a band that ran out of ideas.
Coheed and Cambria The Color Before The Sun
Sounds like the band had good intention, but the end product sounds so lifeless and uninteresting. A pop rock record that isn't very catchy
Gorillaz Humanz
letlive. If I'm the Devil...
Limp Bizkit Results May Vary
Opeth Sorceress
Opeth The Roundhouse Tapes
Mikael sounds great but is mixed too high. Drummer is normally fantastic, but doesn't perform
well here. He takes on a noticeable amount of liberties from the original recordings for the worse.
e.g. the Windowpane solo, the Blackwater Park intro, and worst of all, the awkwardly forced
"swingy" drum parts. Overall, it's a very tense drum performance.

The sloppy climax to Face of Melinda (that guitar riff at the ending heavier section
is..awfully brash) and awful Windowpane performance due to the tense drumming and snail's
pace tempo makes this hard to listen to front-to-back.
