Blakfish Champions
Mos Def Black on Both Sides
Parkway Drive Killing With A Smile
Parkway Drive Deep Blue
Periphery Periphery (Instrumental)
Sholi Sholi
Technically and melodically satisfying in every way possible. As a drummer, the drum work on the album is absolutely mindblowing but so so subdued at the same time. The music has a near-paralytic calming effect but is never close to being boring. A truly remarkable record.
Tubelord Feed Me a Box of Words

Adebisi Shank This is the Album
August Burns Red Constellations
August Burns Red Messengers
Blakfish See You In Another City
Bonobo Days To Come
Born of Osiris The Discovery
Definitely a change up from the last album, the sound is a lot more mature and abstract, but comes together nicely.
Chronic Future Lines in My Face
Dark Time Sunshine ANX
Denzel Curry Melt My Eyez See Your Future
ERRA Augment
Fallujah The Harvest Wombs
Instrumentally mind-blowing. Manages to be prog, melodic, tech and brutal all at the same time. Vocals aren't too shabby either.
Good Tiger A Head Full of Moonlight
Heaven Shall Burn Of Truth and Sacrifice
Ice Nine Kills The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood

Tons of energy, very punchy and catchy. Everything just works, one of my favorite albums of the year easily.

&U&I Kill The Man That Shot That Man
A new direction for the ex-members of Blakfish. Their sound is a bit different and perhaps a bit more directed, but it's growing on me very quickly. Terror Back is the best song on the album imo. A bit more tech than Blakfish, but still has great melodies and riffs.
&U&I Light Bearer
Fantastic. Took a number of listens to get used to it, but after the 4th listen through, I've been really digging it. It's definitely a new sound, far from Blakfish and even somewhat distant from Kill the Man that Shot that Man, but it's a good. Highly recommend.

I feel sort of strange about the acoustic tracks and tend to skip over them. As for the rest...it's not that the album does any one thing particularly well, but it's the balance of it that comes together and forms a sledgehammer to the face. There's something about the album I can't really wrap my head around, but it's particularly powerful. Additionally, the drummer's snare work is brilliant. His percussion work manages to be relatively understated and works well with the songs, but for the drummer with a well tuned ear it's also technically satisfying.

Adebisi Shank This is the Second Album
Took a while to get used to the new album over the old one, I feel like it lost a lot of its shred-factor, which I still miss...but the album has a lot to offer after a few listens. I love the punchy bass line in the intro for Century City.
And So I Watch You From Afar The Letters
Blessed by a Broken Heart Feel The Power
Born of Osiris A Higher Place
Born of Osiris The New Reign
Bring Me The Horizon Sempiternal
Calories Basic Nature
A mixed bag, quite a bit of song variation but the high points are oh so good.
Daft Punk Tron: Legacy
ERRA Impulse
Excide Bastard Hymns
Fall In Archaea Gatherings
Feed Her to the Sharks Savage Seas
Gideon Costs
Stylistically very similar to The Ghost Inside, but definitely would be easy to differentiate the two. I could go without the clean vocals, they don't really add much here and sound out of place. Songs aren't identical sounding so it does get acceptable replay value.
In Flames Foregone
LANDMVRKS The Darkest Place I've Ever Been
Maybeshewill Not For Want Of Trying
Maybeshewill I Was Here For a Moment, Then I Was Gone
Mos Def The Ecstatic
such...fat...beats, absolutely love them on this record. The vocals are a bit all over the place which works sometimes, but definitely aren't up to black on both sides caliber.
MyChildren MyBride MyChildren MyBride
Ocean Grove Up in the Air Forever
Bunch of haters…most tracks are catchy as hell and just an all around fun album. It obviously doesn?t benefit from the
automatic +1.5 rating point inflation given to any random abstract atmospheric noise trash metal album that comes on
the Sputnik docket.
Radiohead The King of Limbs
Sirens and Sailors Still Breathing
Lots of energy, very punchy and solid all around...good drum work especially, but brings nothing new to the table. Still enjoyable though.

3.0 good
Animals As Leaders Weightless
It's difficult to not like this album a lot, as they are one of my favorite musical groups but this album pales in comparison to the self titled. It's a frustrating "progression" as there are little slivers of awesomeness to be found on the album, but they're usually drowned by drawn out and mundane verses. A lot more electronic stuff to be found on the album, and while it adds on certain tracks (like Odessa), often times it gets stretched out for too long and gets annoying. For example on the opener track, from 1:50 to 2:45, what is otherwise an awesome track gets a huge chunk of boring, uninspired garbage thrown in the middle of it. rIt feels like they had some moments of inspiration and strung them together with useless filler. A mostly boring and disappointing culmination in what was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. r

As Blood Runs Black Instinct
Yawn...is it 2005? Seriously, after such a hiatus I was expecting something momentous. It could be worse, it's an okay album for what it's worth...but at the end of the day it's not worth much. Enjoyed a few riffs (King of Thieves, before the 3 minute mark) but other than a few bright moments it was uninspiring. Riff riff breakdown riff stacked vox riff breakdown riff...seriously?
Avenged Sevenfold Nightmare
Explosions in the Sky Take Care, Take Care, Take Care
Boring. Very, very boring. Put this on in the background and never caught my attention even once.

2.0 poor
Bury Your Dead Mosh n' Roll

1.5 very poor
Parkway Drive Darker Still

1.0 awful
Design the Skyline Nevaeh
The Fall of Troy In the Unlikely Event
Total disappointment and garbage...it sounds like they did their multitracking without having audio from the other instrument tracks and vocal track. I'll stick with Doppleganger.
