Carach Angren Where the Corpses Sink Forever
Carach Angren This Is No Fairytale
Sylosis Monolith
Overall impression is excellent. Doom lyrics. Some great thrash riffs. Rest are mediocre riffs. (Mediocre thrash is considered great anyway). Surreal Atmosphere, never heard before - unique. Beautiful guitar solos too. I dig the melodic scream vocals even if generic. Almost as good as the Darkest Hour Vocalist. Varied Songwriting, but with some clever formulas repeated(Track 3 & 4 too similar). Only 1 weak song.

3.5 great

Sylosis Dormant Heart
Solid record. Not their most diverse work but they nail it with songwriting. rWith Dormant Heart, Sylosis has reached a point where they're clearly rehashing.. themselves occasionally with patterns, fillins. That said, the occasional doom/sludge-y vibes on this record, although limited, are distinct (leeches, mercy, overthrown etc) and perhaps the only evolutionary aspect of this record. rThere's no denying that no other band blends melodic death and thrash as seamlessly. The Melodic atmosphere is unlike anything I've heard on gothenburg/melodeth and the thrash sections more often don't sound like a blatant Exodus rip off (or 'tribute' if you happen to be one of those sensitive hypocritical elitist suffering from the 'crapinmyears' syndrome. I'll pray for you!)

36 Crazyfists Time and Trauma
I was a fan of Snowcapped Romance for sheer catchyness, but when I check back today, Time and Trauma feels like a step down and musically for 2015 - this is an average release at best. I get that they're going through a difficult phase, but musically they're strolling a dead end. Except for the vocals which is the signature sound of 36CF, the song-writing is too predictable. Guitar hooks are not the least memorable nor remarkably groovy. 'Also am I' was such a drag. I quite like metalcore, but this is a bland approach that is already done to death.
