| This is a great album, probably Skyclad's most consistent. As with all great music it takes a little bit of effort to unlock the door to this albums true potential, so give it a few listens then come back to it. The production on this is probably the best Skyclad ever had, this allows the powerful and diverse musical element of the band to really shine. Martin gives the best vocal performance of his career with his lyrical witiscisms intertwining perfectly with the music. No lyricist comes close to the poetic intellectualism and power of tracks such as 'Think Back And Lie Of England'. I never understood why the lyrics of Skyclad are so underrated because they stand head and shoulders above every great lyricist I can think of. That said it's nearly 15 years since this album came out and it's a real shame that Martin Walkyier has deprived the world of his cutting insight since. Come on Martin there is an overwhelming minority of us out there who refuse to take part in the ilk of human blindness and I for one miss your contribution to this one piece puzzle. |

| Terveet Kadet Aareton joulu |
Without doubt one of the greatest hardcore releases ever. Not as raw as previous releases but by todays
standards the production is brutally abrasive. After this release the original drummer left and the vocals changed,
Terveet Kadet would never be the same. This is the last totally essential record that Terveet Kadet made.
Musically it’s still very simple and raw, there is an untameable nihilism and power that is almost impossible to
capture and that makes the sound of this record quite unique. The guitars, bass and drums play mid paced
hardcore punk, it is most certainly sitting on the punk side of the fence, there is no metal core bullshit here. The
vocals on the other hand are extreme and sit almost in black metal territory, this coupled with the art work which
consists of an amateurish logo on a black background with some BDSM fetishist hanging up side down with a
burning candle inserted into his asshole! In 1982 I'm sure this was quite a statement! The band name translates
as Healthy Hands and the title of the record translates as Infinite Christmas, WTF......... I have no idea what was
going on in Northern Finland in the early 80’s but whatever it was these crazy Finns produced this aggravated
anti masterpiece of pure angst and desperation that few bands will ever match. Essential for anyone into
Hardcore. |
| Terveet Kadet Rock laahausta vastaan |
| Terveet Kadet did three totally essential releases and this was the first. The sound on this is very raw, the riffs are very basic and the drumming is simplistic. Sounds terrible? Yes, but there?s a real magic to this that exceeds the sum of its parts. The violent desperation coupled with the aforementioned lack of sound quality gives this a very unique feel not dissimilar to early black metal releases. In 1980 Terveet Kadet created a hardcore masterpiece with a sound that is quite close to some sort of proto black metal and Grindcore. The vocals a quite extreme even by today?s standards and I?m sure Quorthorn must have been aware of this band as early Bathory was as influenced by punk as it was by metal. An essential release in the history of extreme music, possibly the first truly extreme release ever made. Beware though if your used to modern production this will be somewhat of a shock. Along with the 2nd and third 7?s this is hardcore at its absolute finest. |

| White Flag S Is for Space |
Wild nihilistic punk in the style of the Germs. Very raw production values, we’re not talking early Italian or Finnish
hardcore but by American standards this is raw, lyrics that contradict themselves, or sing about using spot cream
to get high, weird sound effects taken from a live show, songs that play forwards and backwards at the same
time, and the most irritating endless loop in the outro groove. This record will either piss you off until you want to
throw it against the wall or you will just accept that this record is one of the greatest punk records ever made.
Black Flag are kneeling before White Flag on the back cover so take note and pray to this product of a twisted
mind. White Flag never achieved this kind of annihilation ever again. RIP Bill Bartell |

| I like this album a lot, speed metal tinged power metal. As always Axel Julius has crafted some fine tunes. There are some real Scanner classics present here my personal favourites being F.T.B, Warlords and The Battle Of Poseidon, most of the other tracks are really great too. This would have been a solid 4.5 from me without Pirates (please leave that kind of thing to Running Wild) and The Legionary (week closing track for an album this good). The main criticism of this album for my part would be that I would have preferred the lyrics to have some kind of concept a la Hypertrace instead of the rather boring, pedestrian lyrical content that we are presented with. All in all a great album and a fantastic return to form but please please try a little harder with the lyrical content. |
