Probably their best album contains the real stand out track hurter, but Killhoney, Die Lover Die, Pain Hates Me, Sickness Crown, Ghost Dance all brilliant.

Horsehead Horsehead
Horsehead are an Under rated Australian classic. Essentially a pub rock band with influences ranging from led zeppelin,
the angels, rose tattoo, Aerosmith, an absolute killer live band lead by amazing vocalist Andy McLean. A fantastic guitar
partnership between Scott Kingman and Cameron McKenzie and a solid as F*** Rhythm section with Mick Vallance on
bass and Max War on drums. 1993 saw the release of this opus behemoth of solid hard rock, let the music do the
talking. rLiar, oil and water, power 2, hazy way, and the absolute fan favourite Sun are just some of the killer tunes on
this album.

Agree, I think the 'dad rock' reference is a bit too easy of a throw away criticism. It's got more substance than that. This is a pretty good album, pretty consistent, I particularly love The Water is Coming. It isn't as varied as Little Hell, but its still pretty strong.

Ghost (SWE) Skeletá
The criticisms are just, i can understand, it definitely feels like their most unapologetic rcommercial straight forward release, but i am not after 'challenging music' when it comes to rGhost - they have never ever been a challenging music band. Whilst its all been "done before", rits hard to pinpoint where precislely in such a satisfying way. It still is very Ghost sounding ralbum even if has the sounds of other bands. Even in the early days i always felt Ghost had a rvery Ozzy (Zakk rWylde era) feel to them. I sort of like the band even more with the overt 80s homage, to be rhonest i was the other way around to most, and thought when they were trying to be taken as a rmore serious legit band without this angle as the time to cringe. Better to embrace the rcheesiness for mine!rBut thats just it, its cheesy but somehow isn't at the same time, I feel it eventually transcends rthe cheese and just becomes cool 80's rock sounding tunes with a modern twang. rAll the songs grew on me quite a lot, and in the end its just if you decide to go with it or not. rI can totally understand those who choose not too, in particular older fans who had a different rfeeling on what this band should be or where it should go.rBut for what it is, I don't care what love rockets are, its a metaphor dude. Its a fun album, rcreates some cool moods and feels. rThe songs I can do without are 'guiding lights' (the weakest track for mine) and probably r'satanized' funnily enough. rThe rest are really quite good in their own way. 'De Profundis Borealis' as an early rfavourite.

This band is amazing. Another really great album. And again, very underwhelming on first few
listens. But eventually like all their previous ones, the genius transcends to the top. I
personally don't like it as much as the last two, its less guitar driven, more synth sounds, but
the essence of Mew is present, its just great. Really good album

Really good album, some of the lengthier tunes haven't really grown on me, although Exodus is good. But unlike zmol I prefer the front half.
The Halo Effect March of the Unheard
This is a really strong release, much prefer it than the first album. Some of the motifs -
main melody in 'this curse of silence', 'march of the undead' and 'coda' - its so the melody
used in Bon Jovi's Dry County if anyone is wondering. haha

VOLA Witness
Besides the track Freak, which is ok, all other tracks are great, some people have claimed side b to be weaker but i think its just as strong if not stronger than side A.
VOLA Friend of a Phantom
This is a grower, and i agree first impressions are of an inferior witness/previous albums.
However i think it might finish up if not on par, just off. First impressions count and
unfortunately cannibal is one of the weaker tunes for mine. But theres some real good stuff
here, there are definite deep cuts, Hollow Kid, Tray, Glass Mannequin. I think they should
of swapped positioning of Cannibal with Paper Wolf, and made that the opener - would of made
a better first impression. But overall, this is another great solid album by them. It will
grow on you.
Voyager Fearless in Love
I reckon they could of left Best Intentions off, started with Prince of Fire, and that makes for a rkiller album. Still fine with BI, I just don't think its a great openerrTheres enough room for VOLA and these guys.

Amorphis Tales From The Thousand Lakes
Amorphis Silent Waters
Amorphis Skyforger
Amorphis Under the Red Cloud
Amorphis Borderland
This album ends really strong, with 'The Lantern', 'Borderland' and 'Despair' especially the rstandout tracks. 'The Circle' is cool and reminiscent of 'The Way' and 'Tempest' is also rquite a nice tune. I still feel this band should incorporate more earthy sounds, go more racoustic, and add more dynamics to their sound, but I welcome some of the folkier and melodic relements as opposed to Halo. The singles - especially 'Light and Shadow' are songs i'm least rimpressed with, they feel somewhat standard and safe. Overall i'm pretty happy with this, its rnot as generic as I was fearing with some of the singles, those last 3 tracks elevate it. rBut I still think they need to try something different, still have some of that rquintessential Amorphis sound, but go more rustic or something, every next album more and rmore feels like there's a big risk it will just be going through the motions. I hope they rchallenge themselves next time, but maybe in this later stage of their career playing it safe ris all they really want to do?

I feel it needed another lengthier more progressive track included to really make the album rawesome. Whilst Point of you, post mortem and monsoon are cool, i sort of lose interest through rthese tracks. I would of liked another big track on there.rBut generally i really like it.

Really enjoying this one been a fan of the band a long time. Lyrics are fine and I think relevant however put, maybe those rwho seem to disdain them so much it?s hitting a nerve too close to home, dunno? Lyrics never been that important to me rfor music like this anyway, some cool riffs on here

I know it sounds like LZ, but i just like it, i mean its no worse than Wolfmother was to black rsabbath or earlier chair was to Nirvana haha. People need to get over the LZ thing though, because rthe poor scores arent a reflection on the music or product its based on your prejudices. I suppose rall music is though... but more so in this case. But know what i mean, like, if you know your rscore is based purely because you have an aversion to it sounding so LZ, i reckon dont bother even rrating it. Like a death metal fan rating kate perry or something. Just give it a miss

This is only for the real fans, 24 songs!! A lot to digest. This one especially but also
generally feel with his recent albums they feel more like a compilation of just everything
he's recording and putting out almost like an anthology. This one is a pretty stripped back
acoustic type fair for the most part, and it definitely has some good tunes, I love 'I Am A
Rollercoaster', 'Too Old to Die Young' and 'Saturday Night Forever'. Theres a few more decent
ones but then quite a few take it or leave it types. Some cool covers of REM songs x 2 and a
New Order cover as well!

Its probably really a 2.5 but being one of my real favourite bands i'm giving them a little
extra. Some cool tunes but too many on here that really, end of the day, are a little "take it or
leave it" in truth. I really wish 'the Wishing Well' had been on the album proper, in place of a
couple of the weak tunes (hot on my tail or cold hearted women) it would improve the album rating
for mine if that had been on there.

Echo sentiments of a few on here, wish there was more oomph sometimes, but its actually a decent album, some nice ear candy moments with different instruments etc, i actually like is better than Dissolution.

Ahh, i dunno, i love 'Which One Do You Want' - but after that i just feel flat. Fun People and Give Me BacK My World are alright, Deadly Love is cool but the piano notes do become a little repetitive. rKeep Dreaming has a keyboard part in the chorus so so reminiscent of the cars 'Magic' that i cant get past that.rI just think theyre capable of much stronger songs, i found a lot of these vanilla and just average cool enough, but nothing special tunes. They seem to be going for easy going fun type tunes, and thats all good, but i think they shine more when they do more serious type tunes with more conviction to them? Or maybe these songs just are a bit bland. But like i said really like Which One Do You Want, add that to their best of.

Disappointed overall, I really loved their first two albums. There?s just too many songs on here that are just so take it or leave it.
