An artists job is to grow and progress in their own ways, of their own merits. I don't care what
stubborn "fans" say when their only genre of interest is altered; growth is growth, even if you
dislike it. As a "metal" album, this falls flat. As an Opeth album, it succeeds with flying
colors, because the consumers are not always right and a truly respectable band has every right to
become what it wishes (with or without the consent of others). In this light, the average here is
fucking abysmal. Come on, guys. |

| Though there are many notions regarding the man's intentions behind creating this "album," the end product is difficult to argue with. It's powerful and hard-hitting, and anyone with the stomach should give it a shot; just try not to get lost after delving in. Also wonderful for writing inspiration, given your taste in fiction is a tad on the heavier side. |
