Spaced out beats, droning flows and a fuckload of autotuned hooks makes this Lean's most accomplished work, and a sign of greater things to come.

Bring Me The Horizon There Is a Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It...
Converge Jane Doe
Converge All We Love We Leave Behind
Dance Gavin Dance Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean
A raw, passionate debut that not only eclipsed the full-length that followed in far fewer songs, but packs the best performance from either Jon Mess or Johnny Craig on any release.
Danny Brown XXX
Defeater Lost Ground
Demi Lovato Don't Forget
Demi Lovato doesn't have a particularly strong voice, nor are her songs inventive in any way. However, this is definitely her best work, serving up infectious hook after infectious hook with little room to breathe, and atmospheric production that brings out the best in every element of the song.
Drake If You're Reading This It's Too Late
Jason Derulo Tattoos
Definitively the most emotive and confessional Derulo has ever been, Tattoos is destined to be the defining album in his career. These new tracks (particularly the ballads) are now aided by vastly improved falsetto vocals, (for the most part) more mature lyrics and impressive, often semi acoustic production that harkens back to some of the instrumentally focused vibes of his early material. Diversity is the keyword here, and from the grinding basslines and triumphant horns of the bouncing singles to more stripped back numbers, it's obvious that every ounce of Derulo's passion for his partner Jordin Sparks (who unsurprisingly appears here) has been put into this record.

Yung Lean Sadboys2001
Lean's first mixtape is basically a compilation of his past material, but it all flows remarkably well despite the disjointed tracklist. Lean isn't a skilled rapper, but his lyrics are so bizarre and the beats are so airy that it's an entrancing listen. There's quite a few disposable tracks here, but nothing too terrible, and the best ones are amongst his finest work.

Dance Gavin Dance Downtown Battle Mountain
Although Johnny Craig's warm, soulful voice creates a soothing R&B vibe, the other elements of the record severely lack, most primarily Mess' atonal, irritating screaming. A solid release that doesn't live up to the preceding EP, but is a good example of a catchy, well constructed post-hardcore album.
Dance Gavin Dance Mothership
Danny Brown Old
Defeater Travels
Drake Views
Drake More Life

Jason Derulo Future History
An upgrade in production, vocal prowess (via a lot of autotune) and a much larger focus on dance-orientated club bangers has lead to most of the rocky, edgier side of Derulo perishing, but it's not a sacrifice in vain. Cheesy samples aside, a good portion of these songs are as sleek, sexy and finely-combed as most of Chris Brown's output. But despite these inevitable comparisons, Derulo is his own man and this feels much more like an album than its rather inconsistent predecessor.
Jason Derulo Talk Dirty
A reissue of an already very impressive album, Talk Dirty jumbles the tracklist of its predecessor in an effort to reignite the smouldering ashes of what ultimately was a commercial failure. And it's a success, as not only is the new single is a massive hit, but alongside the other new songs it utilises more of the title track's urban percussion as well as the talents of a great many of both pop and hip-hops big names (both vocally and in the records larger range of producers. Inevitably a bigger hit in America than the original format, Talk Dirty is interesting to a die hard fan only as an example of how wide Derulo's comfort area is, and that he can not only pull of more adventurous songs, but return back to basics just as seamlessly.

Dance Gavin Dance Happiness
With Travis remaining the driving force behind the band's increasingly poppy sounding post-hardcore, it's no surprise that everything on this record is basically Dance Gavin Dance-lite. The hooks are catchy, but vocally it lacks the chaotic nature provided by Mess' hollering, replaced rather unsatisfyingly by Will Swan's generic growls. On top of this, the band's obsession with technical wankery is encapsulated here far too well, and to a degree bordering on annoying. Lyrically weak but melodically mellifluous, this is a letdown after their immense self-titled record.
Dance Gavin Dance Downtown Battle Mountain II
Johnny Craig is back, and with him he brought the sultry, sexy R&B tones he was always known for. But, amongst Mess' now intolerable squawking, Swan's insufferable white-boy rapping and the ridiculous amounts of boring guitar masturbation, he almost seems like a wasted voice.
Dance Gavin Dance Instant Gratification
Defeater Letters Home
Demi Lovato Here We Go Again
Definitely weaker than Don't Forget, Here We Go Again crams in too many boring ballads to be anywhere as exciting. Even the faster songs fail to match the highlights of her debut, and overall this is as disappointing as a sophomore album could have been.
Jason Derulo Jason Derulo
Though his voice is fairly unspectacular, Derulo is undeniably good at writing catchy pop songs. The singles from this album blend grooving, finger snapping R&B with sleek, guitar led pop rock, but most of the other tracks are synth-powered explosions of euphoric pop or morose piano ballads. A mixed bag, but one packing enough infectious tunes to indicate a very successful future.

Dance Gavin Dance Acceptance Speech
Dreadful production renders every part of this album a jagged, ugly mess, Tilian's vocals couldn't sound weaker or more strained, and none of the band members are even trying to be as wacky as they were on DBMII. Even Mess sounds tame here, roping in his usual gusto for plain, Rise-core shouts that betray his undeniable talent.
Defeater Empty Days & Sleepless Nights
Demi Lovato Unbroken
A very bad album, missing any of the pop rock flourishes that Don't Forget displayed in spades. R&B is the choice genre this time round, and the more urban collaborations do nothing to improve her previously mature image.
