Green Day Dookie
So you get home, you put on your headphones, and you hear "Burnout" start up. And this feeling creeps over you. You get lost in this band and their teenage alt rockish-punk rock sound. Track after track, you find yourself having a really good time. This was Green Day at their best. Don't get me wrong, I like later works, but Dookie is just one of those albums. One of those albums that makes you feel something kinda indescribable. Many punk purists would say that this album caused a decline in punk rock with it's angsty lyrics and popish feel. But I disagree. I feel it allowed for punk rock to have commercial success in a new generation, and inspired many more bands. I can feel every instrument on each track. You can just feel it. Mike's bass is always there, the guitar belts power chords, Tre Cool's drumming's energetic as ever. And of course Billie Joe Armstrong has that very distinctive voice. Everything about this album is great. From the catchy songs to the movement it started. Some people may not like Green Day, but I feel that this album is a classic that will always have a place in my heart, and many others'.

estates Self-Titled
I discovered this band because they were playing with a local band in my area, and I almost saw them live. When I first heard them, it really just sorta blew my mind. They're almost perfect. This album in particular showcases their sound. They have a very dreamy sound similar to bands like My Bloody Valentine, mixed with emotional qualities similar to Hum and Sunny Day Real Estate. Their music is very peaceful to me without being boring. I feel very in touch with the songs on this album. There's just something about the way that they sound that really touches me. It's more than just "90s emo revival" it's something original. Something beautiful. If you like Smashing Pumpkins, Hum, Sunny Day Real Estate, Braid, Failure, Silversun Pickups, Promise Ring or any similar bands and artists, this album is sure to blow you away.
