These guys can do no wrong. ETID > your favorite band.
Every Time I Die Ex Lives
Every Time I Die Hot Damn!
Every Time I Die The Big Dirty
Every Time I Die Low Teens
ETID followed up what was arguably their heaviest and most chaotic effort with an album that is almost entirely southern/groove/party metal. Low teens essentially nails the side of their musical spectrum that was somewhat ignored on From Parts Unknown. But it doesn't really matter what direction they choose, because it will work regardless. This band is incapable of fucking up.

To be fair I've only listened once, and it's possible the shine will wear off with repeated listens, but I can't name a single thing about this album I don't like. Every track is great. The pacing is perfect. The production is on point. There's a lot of diversity, and several moments that completely caught me off guard. It closes out in a way that should induce chills in anyone with a pulse. They nailed it.

I was also first exposed to this band when they opened for Dillinger. Great Band. Great album. As of now, I think I slightly prefer their previous album to Crooked Doors. It seemed a bit darker, and heavier on the psychedelic/stoner elements. That opinion could change though. I expect this to continue to grow on me.

Two decent albums in a row. Nicely done, Weezer. I genuinely didn't think they had it in them.

hasn't lost anything in the feels department. I'm confident White has staying power.

The Hunter wasn't as bad as some made it out to be. I think of it as more of a b-sides
album. There are some really good songs on there (stargasm, blasteroid, all the heavy
lifting) that just didn't fit well together. This feels like a much more focused and
cohesive effort. There isn't a song on the album that deserves skipping. It's probably the
catchiest and most accessible thing Mastodon has ever done but it's still a challenging
listen. There's easily some of the best drumming and guitar leads of any Mastodon album.
They've struck a nice balance between vocalists too. Those who think Mastodon went to shit
after Leviathan will hate it, but that's their loss.

I know the IMN's will hate it, but it's a good album. If you are able to put aside their previous albums and judge it on it's own merits, then you should enjoy it. If you can't handle the lack teh metalz, then you might as well skip it. The guitar work is stellar. The production is crisp. It's just a really solid album from front to back.

The Avett Brothers True Sadness
True Sadness is the most polarizing of the Rubin albums for me. It has a couple of snoozers, a
couple of electronic-infused missteps, and several tracks that pale in comparison to their live
counterparts--but it also has moments of brilliance. There are songs that wouldn't sound totally
out of place on Emotionalism. There are songs where the experimentation pays off (particularly
the closing track)--examples of true progression. It has its flaws, but it also has its charms.

Korn once again attempt a return to making aggressive music. I want to appreciate it,
but as usual, JD and the gang suck the air out of some interesting ideas with bland
chorus melodies. Also, their breakdowns haven't worked in years because Ray's drumming
is way too robotic. They need someone with the slightest sense of groove, even if he
sucks like Silveria.
