| I have the distinct pleasure of charting the Tilin-ography for Clone Hero. Having spent ~4 hours on each song to create these charts, I've noticed some very clear trends as I've moved from Acceptance Speech to Jackpot Juicer. Over time we've seen a simplification of song structures, increase in vocal layering/production (for the worse), little to no tempo or time sig changes, and an absolute decrease in meaningful lyricism. Mothership was the perfect marriage of these trends and what made DGD "good", and we've been going downhill ever since.rI still enjoyed this album, but I'm hoping all the controversy/strife (Matt's rehab, Tilian being Tilian, and Tim RIP) brings about a reinvention of the band. |
