5.0 classic
Brand New Deja Entendu
Manchester Orchestra A Black Mile to the Surface
It's really grown on me since its release earlier in the year and a bona fide classic
The Dear Hunter Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional
Takes a few listens, but for fans of the overall narrative it's a truly satisfying sonic experience
Thrice Vheissu
Thrice Anthology

4.5 superb
Bad Books III
It lacks that wow moment that other BB albums have had, but if you're a fan of hauntingly emotional vocals then you're definitely in the right place.
Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Bruce Springsteen Springsteen on Broadway
Yes it's wordy, and yes it's all stripped back, but it's a fascinating and captivating journey into the life and times of one of the greatest showmen still plying his trade today. Brilliantly mixed as well.

It's everything that Palms should've been (i.e. not a bland overproduced, unfocussed mess of an album) and probably 4 of their best songs since returning from hiatus. Not perfect, but I hope they use this to build on for whatever's next.
Tigers on Trains Antarctica In Color
Will Varley Advert Soundtracks

3.5 great
Bad Books Bad Books
Chris Staples Holy Moly
Chris Staples' music has always been the type to music to sit back and enjoy in the sunshine and watch the world go by with a beer or two for an hour or so. His latest is no different and a thoroughly pleasant (if perhaps a little safe) listen. Title track probably the best.
CHVRCHES Every Open Eye
City and Colour Sometimes
Cold War Kids Five Quick Cuts
One Song At A Time is a song I think only Nathan Willett would ever put out, and it's Cold War Kids at their infectious best. Rest of the EP is solid.
Danny Brown Atrocity Exhibition
Discover America Psychology
Father John Misty God's Favorite Customer
Last two tracks are the standouts. It's a bit safe and forgettable in places, but always a pleasant listen.
Frank Turner Tape Deck Heart
Frank Turner Poetry of the Deed
Frank Turner Show 2000: Live At Nottingham Rock City
Frank Turner The Third Three Years
Future Islands Singles
Honorary Astronaut EP001
It's fun pop rock. There's nothing bad but equally nothing that comes as close to the highs on any TDH album. There's undoubtedly potential, but I know Casey is involved in a separate multimedia project so it may be a while for a follow up.
Julien Baker Little Oblivions
Definitely a grower, second half seems a big step up from the first. First side 2.5, Second probably a 4. So 3.5 seems fair bit it could really use a killer "claws in your back" moment
Kevin Devine Instigator
In many ways, KD reminds me of Frank Turner as he started working with The Sleeping Souls as a main band more in that something isn't quite in sync between the solo acoustic styles of the lead singer and the desire to add depth through the production and additional elements which the Goddamn Band provide, resulting in something a little muddled at times, even if it's lyrically on point. rBit of a slow start, but Freddie Gray Blues through Both Ways is some of KD's best stuff in a while. Still think Brothers Blood is his best overall album though.
Kevin Devine Nothing's Real, So Nothing's Wrong
It's a Kevin Devine album. You know what you're getting when you go into one of these. It's good, not Brothers Blood good but then again thats a very high bar!

CHVRCHES Recover
City and Colour Little Hell
Eminem Kamikaze
Father John Misty Pure Comedy
Frank Turner Positive Songs for Negative People
Gates (USA-NJ) Parallel Lives
It's pleasant enough but it sorely lacks the power that the Bloom and Breathe had. The first half is really forgettable though and it's not until Empty Canvas where we get to see an inkling of the potential this band has (and even then it doesn't really hold a candle to anything on Bloom and Breathe). Loving the groove on Penny though.

2.0 poor
CHVRCHES Love Is Dead
Evanescence Synthesis
Meg Myers Take Me To The Disco
Walk Off the Earth Sing It All Away
I enjoyed a fair amount of REVO, but this is just quite dull, lacking in any real musical or lyrical depth. The whole "everything's really quirky because we've added a ukelele" thing just doesn't work on this album. rHeart is a Weapon is an impossible song to get out of your head once you've heard it a few times. The remix of Home We'll Go is probably the stand out track, which says quite a lot about this album from start to finish really.

1.5 very poor
Frank Turner Be More Kind
Remember folk punk Frank Turner? Yeah this album certain doesn't. The best songs on this can't lick the boots of Poetry of the Deed, let alone England Takes My Bones or Love, Ire and Song and is composed of bland political and socioeconomic observations with the lyrical depth of a high school drop out band.

1.0 awful
