2013 album of the year, hands down. One of the greatest comeback albums you could ever listen to. It's a crime this band is so unknown and unappreciated. Incredible musicianship, diverse vocals, technical solos, killer breakneck thrash riffs, pounding drums, and beautiful progressive-minded melodies throughout. Do yourself a favor and get this absolute gem of a heavy metal album. You'll be forever glad you did.
Caligula's Horse The Tide, the Thief and River's End
Destiny Potato Lun
A complete out-of-nowhere (at least for me) collection of great melodic, catchy, eccentric,
surprisingly technical and, at times, heavy djent-style progressive metal. Don't let the
"djent" label scare you away though, as the quirkiness of the band (hence their name) make
for a highly unique style in the scene. Beautiful, soaring female vocals with harsh screams
sprinkled in between alongside extremely talented guitars and drumming. Expect a fair share
of memorable hooks and technical riffing. Imagine a less irritating Periphery with better
song-writing meets Paramore and you have Destiny Potato. This will easily be among the
better metal/hard rock albums of the year. Here's hoping the band gets the recognition they
deserve. |

Most technically diverse album yet. All of the death/thrash goodness is still here, yet Revocation continues to throw in a few surprises on occasion; most notably in the form of dissonant, harsh black metal style riffing most likely contributed by guitarist Dan Gargiulo, noted for his new project Artificial Brain. Once again, Dave proves he's one of the most gifted and talented guitarists of our time. Although his vocals are a problem for some, he has a better delivery for this style of technical death/thrash than most of his peers, and he has improved on each new release. Easily one of the top albums of the year. Don't miss it.
