I heard these guys live and they sound amazing but more dynamic than on the recorded album. While NeO's wide range of influences may turn off some listeners who do not appreciate the experimentation or idiots whose musical taste live by the retarded phrase "less is more", I find it utterly refreshing. It is definitely not an album that can be fully absorbed in only one listen. With each repeated listen, you appreciate the layering more and hear more in the music.Ne Obliviscaris CitadelOutworld OutworldOne of my favorite albums of all time, just because all of the band members go all out. Rusty Cooley's shredding has improved somewhat in a band context. Also, Kelly Sundown Carpenter is fucking insane.Skyharbor Guiding LightsTesseracT Altered StateVildhjarta MÃ¥sstadenI know some people hate seeing the terms "Meshuggah" and "djent" in every review of a band that sounds like this, but fuck 'em, Vildhjarta is like Meshuggah on shrooms, and one of the most original djent bands out there. Thall these feels for Vildhjarta...4.0 excellentCircle of Contempt Entwine the ThreadsFallujah DreamlessThe Contortionist LanguageUneven Structure FebruusThese guys might not be very original or have complex songwriting, but it still sounds great due to their skillful use of ambiance and atmosphere. However, I usually only listen to Awaken/Frost/Hail in one 16 min track and skip the rest of the album, because it gets a little too formulaic at times. Still one of my favorite albums to listen to while blazed.3.5 greatDelusions of Grandeur ReclamationSkyharbor Blinding White Noise: Illusion & ChaosUneven Structure 8 (Re-release)A completely different beast from Februus, but a solid EP with some serious groove.Vildhjarta Thousands Of EvilsGreat in some parts, not so great in others. I thought the keyboard in Masstaden was excellent, which appears to be missing from this EP. Last three tracks are the best part of the album for sure. One thing is clear, Vildhjarta are one of the few "djent" bands (like Tesseract) mixing things up in an original way. At any rate, I trust their next album will be killer.3.0 goodDelusions of Grandeur Efficacy
