Pain is less melodic than past efforts but the more staccato feel seems to work better for them. It's not a perfect album but it's a fantastic step in the right direction. Three Days Grace AlienationWage War DeadweightWage War ManicWe Are The Fallen Tear The World DownWe As Human We As HumanWe As Human have yet to redefine the rock genre. However, they have put together a great collection of rock songs that are cohesive without all sounding exactly the same. Thankfully, the album has only one ballad, which also serves as the worst song on the disc. Another minus is that some of the music is plagued by cheesy lyrics and a style that's just a little too safe sometimes. Ultimately, these guys show potential and their next album will prove whether they confine themselves to generic radio rock or if they can bring their creativity to a higher level.3.0 good12 Stones 12 StonesBarlowgirl Another Journal EntryDisciple (USA-TN) DiscipleDisciple (USA-TN) Southern HospitalityDisciple (USA-TN) O God Save Us AllOverall Disciple does well on this album in creating 11 catchy new tunes. While the softer songs are mostly done well, they cause the album to suffer as Disciple is meant to be a rock band and not the next Mercy Me.Disciple (USA-TN) AttackDisciple (USA-TN) Love Letter Kill ShotEowyn Silent ScreamsFlyleaf Remember to LiveFlyleaf New HorizonsFlyleaf Between the StarsGroup 1 Crew SpaceboundGroup 1 Crew Group 1 CrewGroup 1 Crew Ordinary DreamersIcon For Hire Icon for HireScripted was a great rock album with a bit of a pop twist to it. Their self-titled release is a pop/hip-hop album with some rock flavoring. While I commend them for trying something different, this new sound is not nearly as satisfying. Unfortunately they've turned away from what they had mostly right the first time through. While this isn't a bad album, it's far from being the worthy successor to their first.Icon For Hire The ReckoningKutless Sea of FacesKutless It Is WellOwl City Of JuneOwl City Maybe I'm DreamingOwl City The Midsummer StationParamore ParamoreParamore After LaughterPillar ConfessionsPillar One Love RevolutionPlumb Beautiful Lumps of CoalPlumb Beautiful History (A Hits Collection)Red (USA) Rated RRighteous Vendetta CursedSkillet AwakeSkillet Awake (Deluxe Edition)Skillet RiseSkillet UnleashedSkillet VictoriousSkillet DominionSkillet RevolutionStarset TransmissionsStarset DivisionsStarset HorizonsStarset SILOSThe Birthday Massacre FascinationThe Letter Black Hanging On By A ThreadWage War PressureWovenwar Wovenwar2.5 averageBecoming The Archetype The Physics of FireCreed Greatest HitsDemon Hunter OutliveDemon Hunter has assembled a bland collection of lethargic rock tunes into an album that is a rglaring low point in their discography. "Jesus Wept," "Cold Blood" and "One Less" are the only routstanding rtracks. Demon Hunter PeaceDemon Hunter There Was a Light HereThere Was A Light Here is a charcuterie board of Demon Hunter's various styles. It's a distinct improvement over the boring slog fest of Exile. However, much of the record feels starved for energy. Perhaps the biggest critique of the album is simply that the first seven releases (Self-titled through Extremist) were so much better.Fireflight NowKutless KutlessKutless Strong TowerParamore All We Know Is FallingSkillet InvincibleThe Letter Black RebuildThe Letter Black seems content to caterwaul their way through songs with unoriginal and hoaky lyrics.Thankfully there are some highlights on the album that bring its rating up some. Sick Charade, Smothering Walls, Devil on Your Back and Branded are some of the stronger tracks on this album. However, after listening through the disc several times, one can't help but feel that this could have been a lot better. It's not that any one track on Exile is particularly horrible but rather that the ballad heavy, meandering, often lifeless collection of tunes render a listening experience that is burdensome and unengaging.
