5.0 classic
Ludwig van Beethoven Große Fuge, Op. 133
U2 The Joshua Tree

4.0 excellent
Deafheaven Sunbather
Possibly the album with the most unnecessary amount of hype and backlash out of any i've listened to. A bunch of bittersweet/happy/triumphant riffs that can get really stuck in my head + too long songs + really good drumming + incredibly generic and pointless black metal vocals. Not really a great album for any genre but I will be listening to it for a long time. I've tried to give it up but I can't.
Islands Arm's Way
Sonic Youth Sister
I love how paranoid this album is. I'll join you tonight at the bottom of the well.
Sonic Youth Evol
Most of the songs are interesting to good. But Tom Violence, Shadow of a Doubt, and Expressway to Yr. Skull are just incredible.
Suzanne Vega Days of Open Hand

3.5 great
Alice in Chains The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here
Jerry Cantrell doesn't have to prove anything to anyone or make any great albums anymore. He can just keep making good songs that still don't sound like anyone else.
Bob Mould Silver Age
I was completely surprised by how awesome this album is. Usually I hate "return to form" albums (an artist stops experimenting and starts imitating themself to get fans' adoration back, even though the new stuff never holds a candle to the old stuff) but some of these songs are just flat-out great. Particularly Silver Age and The Descent. He sounds so angry and energetic and it's incredible. No it's not Copper Blue or Beaster, but I honestly think this album is better than FU:EL.
Keluar Vitreum
Darkwave, coldwave, whatever you wanna call it. Beautiful, sensual, and mysterious. Very interesting vocalist and lyrics as well.
Peter Buck I Am Back To Blow Your Mind Once Again

3.0 good
Islands Ski Mask
The most generic Islands album yet, but still some catchy melodies. And dark lyrics. And honestly, I find this
a bit more interesting than Islands no. 4.
Thurston Moore Trees Outside the Academy
very very uneven. love the first four tracks, but in general Thurston isn't much of a frontman, and he can't express very much without letting his guitar take the lead.
U2 Zooropa
first half: 3.5rsecond half: 2.5rseriously, Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car, Some Days Are Better Than Others, and Dirty Day are the most boring U2 songs I've heard. They have some mildly cool loops, but those loops just repeat and repeat without anything interesting happening. I love The First Time though.
U2 Original Soundtracks 1 (As Passengers)
There's a lot of really random stuff on here and I never listen to the whole thing straight through. That said, I'm glad it exists, it's interesting and some of it is pretty good. Also, if you hate U2, this might be the album where they have the least messianic pretensions, being more concerned with just making interesting weird stuff.
U2 Rattle and Hum
3.5 with a few less live tracks and random snippets of other artists' music. Specifically the cover of Helter Skelter is pointless and messes up the words, and Pride adds nothing interesting to the album version. Most of the other songs are more interesting than good anyway. The strange part is that the movie contained probably their greatest ever performance of Sunday Bloody Sunday, why didn't they put that on here?

2.5 average
Islands A Sleep and a Forgetting
R.E.M. Accelerate
The first few months I had this album I liked listening to it, because the songs are short and catchy. However,
now, a few months later, I have no desire to ever listen to it again. These songs aren't bad, but they don't
have any reason to exist. The only people who ever liked this album were people who actively wanted to like
it because they were fans of the band.

2.0 poor
R.E.M. Around the Sun
Perhaps this earns its reputation as the worst R.E.M. album, because its pretty fucking boring. Still, I'd be lying if I said I didn't find some songs enjoyable.

1.5 very poor
R.E.M. Collapse Into Now
This album makes me sick to my stomach when I try to listen to it. It sounds like what someone thinks R.E.M.
is based on their radio hits - you know, indie-lite. And it's pretty much all Michael's fault.rThat this safe and
lifeless album has a higher rating than the raw emotional mess of Up makes me ashamed for my fellow fans.
