5.0 classic
Chris Thile Deceiver
An absolutely marvelous showcase of Thile's ridiculous talent and musical genius. The jazz of tracks like "Locking Doors" is excellently and brilliantly balanced by the off-kilter modern bluegrass of songs like the smashing "On Ice."

the most incredible, gut-wrenching hardcore i've heard for a very long time. the opening track is a brass-knuckled five finger death punch to the scrotum.

it's got such a big sound. the drumming on this thing is open and brilliantly subdued, like that of North Atlantic Oscillation. you don't get that natural sound anymore, that much. the guitars are creamy and massive, really smooth, big chords. they're also really nice dudes, too, so bonus!

Roots Manuva Bleeds
This album has some of the most straightforward production and flow I've heard from Roots in a while; "Hard Bastards" is one of those great, chill openers I love hearing from him, "Crying" somehow manages to be deep even when he's talking about his arse, Four Tet nails the production on "Facety 2:11", and so on. I enjoyed this a lot.

fairly self-indulgent (especially compared to his earlier stuff), but it's got some lovely moments
Tyler, the Creator Cherry Bomb
the production on this album is streets ahead of Goblin, let alone Bastard. hookier and a bit more listenable than Wolf yet still as vulgar and immature as his older stuff.

Michael Cera True That
This is a good album. It's nothing special, but there's nothing atrocious about it and it's, all in all, very nice. If this blows your mind, search "lo-fi" on Bandcamp. There's as good or better stuff than this everywhere; if this wasn't Michael Cera, it wouldn't have a quarter of the interest it does.

Millionaires Just Got Paid, Let's Get Laid
this is actually a lot more listenable than it gets credit for being, but pretty much every song on here has at least one aspect that induces physical pain. "I Like Money" is atrocious.
