5.0 classic
As Tall As Lions Lafcadio
An underappreciated classic that keeps sounding better as each year passes.
Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
This is a classic. Nothing else needs to be said that has not been said.
Brand New Deja Entendu
Circa Survive On Letting Go
I'm at a loss of words of how great this album is. I feel like everytime I listen to it I
get something new from the experience, whether it be a different meaning or a different riff
I haven't heard before. It's one thing for music to be dense but sometimes I spin this album
and it seems like Circa has no clue what it accomplished here.
Further Seems Forever The Moon Is Down
Bands just don't make music like this anymore. Unpretentious, honest, raw and sincere. I know those words mean the same thing but that is the greatest and only complement needed for this classic.
Lydia Illuminate
A truly sonic experience from start to finish. Sing along lyrics that aren't meant to be sung along with. Rather just listened to with eyes closed.
Moving Mountains Moving Mountains
The ultimate finale to a great band. Pneuma to Waves to Moving Mountains, they created,
maybe unknowingly, a concept band. Despite each record being so different they each bleed
into the next with similar themes of
the progression of dealing with loss without forgetting what you lost. With each building up
to this epic. It's unfortunate that this is probably their last work but after listening to
their discography... it just seems like it makes sense. There's nothing else they need to
prove.
Senses Fail Still Searching
Straylight Run Straylight Run
Ultimately, Straylight Run's self titled is an inconsistent album. Why a 5? Well, its kind of hard to justify... the highs on this album are just that good.
The Dangerous Summer Reach for the Sun
This is an odd one. I've listened to it probably the most I've listened to 1 album over the past
year. There's nothing particularly amazing about it, but still... it hits so hard each time I hear
lyrics like "my heart isn't breaking, it's my world". It's hard for me to quantify my love for
this album. There are just so many quality lyrics this album it more than makes up for the
repetitive song structure and weak guitar work work. I don't think I've ever listened to a record
so flawed yet so damn perfect. Honestly, I don't think I will find another.
The Receiving End of Sirens The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi
I'm not going to sugarcoat it. This is one of the greatest albums I've listened to. The themes, the sonic presence, the production values, I could go on. There might not be a more perfect listening experience. Mi Fa Mi is a concept album not based on a story but rather on ideas. Misery, Famine, and back to Misery. 'There's no place like home' but once you get there a 'craving grows fiercer, and fiercer' for something more. It's a concept that might not be anything new yet somehow becomes refreshing. Other albums with such lofty goals can get overbearing and therefore becomes hard to listen to unless you are ultimately prepared for it.
I've kind of soured on the band itself, especially after the cringe worthy attempt to garner
some hype for the re-release by fooling fans that they were getting back together, but
there's no denying how good this album is. I've been searching 5+ years for something better
than this and honestly, I haven't found anything that comes close.
The Receiving End of Sirens Between the Heart and the Synapse
Thursday War All the Time

4.5 superb
Bayside Killing Time
Death Cab for Cutie Transatlanticism
Explosions in the Sky The Earth Is Not a Cold Dead Place
Fall Out Boy Take This to Your Grave
Fireworks Gospel
Hit the Lights Invicta
It's crazy that this is rated so low. So crazy that it almost feels as if this record is
ahead of its time. Lay mans pop? I hardly think so. There are few pop-punk albums which feel
so... well, epic. That's noteworthy in itself. This is a great piece of work.
Moving Mountains Waves
It's kind of hilarious seeing some of the staff reviews, it seems like people just review shit for the sake of reviewing shit. This is a great album, probably better than Pneuma because well... its more complete but Pneuma has more stand out songs and the atmosphere is better. Still songs like "The Cascade" and "Parts in Different Places" exemplified whats MM is. Sure it's not post rock anymore but thats fine.
Saosin Saosin
Saosin Translating the Name
Saves the Day Stay What You Are
Senses Fail The Fire
Story of the Year Page Avenue: Ten Years and Counting
To much nostalgia to rate objectively. Sounds even better after 10 years.
Taking Back Sunday Tell All Your Friends
The Dangerous Summer War Paint
Those bridges... Those lyrics... They just hit so hard. Still has RFTS feel but doesnt have the same impact. But with lyrics like in "Parachute" and "Siren" what does it matter.
The Wonder Years The Greatest Generation
I had no idea that pop punk could be this good... still in awe. It's more of a grower than
other pop punk records but I gave it a chance and I'm so glad.

4.0 excellent
Alexisonfire Crisis
Gave this another listen after 10ish years, I still feel the same way. Accessible screams + clean vocals was never really done better than Crisis.
As Tall As Lions As Tall As Lions
Bayside Shudder
Bayside The Walking Wounded
Bayside Bayside
Bayside Acoustic
Ben Howard Every Kingdom
Ben Howard I Forget Where We Were
Brand New Science Fiction
Broadway Kingdoms
I had this rated lower initially but the staying power on this record is much better than I expected. I can always count on Kingdoms to get my blood pumping.
Coheed and Cambria The Second Stage Turbine Blade
Coheed and Cambria In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
Copeland You Are My Sunshine
A great album, but I come back for the songs not the entire album.
Copeland In Motion
Copeland Beneath Medicine Tree
Dashboard Confessional A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar
It's kind of crazy I'm giving this album such a high rating. It's been more than 10 years since this came out and I haven't listened to the whole album in one sitting in maybe just as long. Its just that I can never get past the first song. 'Hands Down' might be a perfect song. Let me say this, I have no sentimental attachment to such a song but even so... that bridge. The ever simple imagery with the crescendos make for an epic finish no matter how its sung. The complete simplicity of the song allows it to be sung in so many different ways, making a different yet just as significant impact each time. 'Hands Down' will probably never become a classic, its complete earnestness and sincerity is kind of embarrassing. Even Carrabba abandoned his attempts to replicate such a simple piece, by moving on to the hectic sound of nu-folk and briefly to some heavily produced emo rock. He got somewhat close with some songs (Stolen) but the fact that he could never quite get it as good as Hands Down is alright.
Dashboard Confessional The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most
Deaf Havana Rituals
Shifting genres is always difficult for an established band. They were screaming first, then they lost the screamer, then moved on to stadium rock in 2017. The change from 2017 All these Countless Nights to 2018 Rituals is the most jarring of their sonic shifts. Rituals is a pure pop modern record that has more of a home on a dance floor than a stadium. Initially it seems like an unnatural progression of their sound but somehow they made it work. It has the same passion, same themes and relatability. A good brave record that is still Deaf Havana, just one you can share with more of your friends.rStandouts: Holy, Heaven, Saint, Epiphany
Death Cab for Cutie Plans
Eluvium Copia
Explosions in the Sky All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone
Forever Came Calling Contender
Hit the Lights Skip School, Start Fights
I the Mighty Connector
I the Mighty Where the Mind Wants to Go / Where You Let it Go
Manchester Orchestra Simple Math
Maroon 5 Songs About Jane
Hearing this album gets me so upset. Not the music but the fact that Maroon 5 couldn't keep evolving this sound to remain relevant. This album got popular because of word of mouth, not corporate power, stuff like that doesn't happen very often. This record is special and it sounds great even after 10+ years, I'm not sure if their new stuff will.
Matchbox Twenty Mad Season
Matchbox Twenty Yourself or Someone Like You
Moving Mountains Pneuma
Great album with great tracks... it just seems somewhat unfinished. They get it right on their self titled.
Moving Mountains New Light
My Chemical Romance Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
My Chemical Romance I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
Not sure if this is actually good or if nostalgia is kicking in. Either way, it sounds ******* good right now and better than the bands that followed them today.

Lydia Run Wild
Lydia goes from songs meant to be listened to, to songs meant to be danced to. Album on its
own is good but didn't realize how different it was until a live performance. Jarring seing
old fans listening to Illuminate to new/old fans ecstatically dancing to Run Wild. Don't
know how I feel about it.

Good record but way to many slow burning songs average songs here. They excel when things go fast and loud, keep to your strengths. Better than the last, but they can only get so much better in 1 year.
Hit the Lights Summer Bones
HTL goes back to normal sounding cookie cutter pop punk. They do it well but Invicta was on to something special. This album seems like more of a reaction of the response to Invicta.

Icarus the Owl Icarus the Owl

Some catchy tunes, but everytime I listen I feel icky. Something about this band and its frontman is just... douchey or something. Not genuine or sincere I guess.

2.0 poor
Circa Survive Blue Sky Noise
The only thing worse than this album was the positive general public reaction to it. No
staying power, usually I can respect people's tastes but I can't see how anyone thinks this
is good. They were on to something in OLG and BSN was not it. Welcome to mediocrity CS, this
is how you got there.
Further Seems Forever Penny Black
Kind of crazy, I originally gave this a 4 but I was wrong. This isnt great, sure there are some good tunes here but the production kills it. Carrabba lost it. This is an attempt to latch onto the trend of auto tune emo rock. Carrabba has some good vocal range but his range doesn't extend to bad trends. The Moon is Down is an emo classic, this is a post-hardcore autotune mess.
Green Day American Idiot
Hawthorne Heights The Silence in Black and White
Ivoryline There Came A Lion
Lights and Motion Save Your Heart
The more I listen, the more I dislike the entire premise of this album more. Beautiful, lush, atmospheric yet at the same time feels hollow and insincere. It's almost if it's a cinematic score without the story to hold it together.
The Fall of Troy Manipulator

1.5 very poor
Maroon 5 Overexposed
Throughout the years so many bands have been accused of 'selling out' that it has become a somewhat meaningless phrase. SCREW IT! I'm using it here. Actually if you looked up 'selling out' in the dictionary this album should be there (true story). A couple of good songs here and there don't make up for the incredible slap in the face this record is to even the casual fan.
