Dawn of Disease suffers from a lack of an original image, however, any true fan of death metal
will instantly recognize an incredible talent for songwriting from this German band. The lyrics
and vocal delivery may be typical death metal fare, but the riffs will keep you headbanging the
whole way through. The leads too speak for themselves and even offer some more melodic moments to
break up the relentless riffing. In short, if you like death metal and yearn for an album that
hearkens back to the the classics, but doesn't come across as a quick ripoff of Death or Cannibal
Corpse, you'll love this. |

Don't be fooled by their later material, Usurper was once a great band that one could most
certainly take seriously. The tracks on this compilation demonstrate the band's incredible energy
and fervour during the 90's. Fans of Celtic Frost will love it! That said it is merely a
compilation of sounds that have been explored many times by other bands in the past. All you
really need to know is that Usurper does black/thrash justice here. |
