One of the most memorable Post-Rock albums in recent years. Plenty of beautiful, even catchy melodies are present, and a very tight drums and bass combo is the most noticeable part of the album's more exciting sections.rAn overwhelming focus on atmosphere makes this enjoyable to listen to at night. My only complaint is the song structures can be a bit simple at times - While every song has a pretty and memorable riff, the album doesn't focus too much on being progressive.

The songs here aren't complex - with the exception of tempo changes, this is a straightforward, intense release where the band confines their melodic style from their first album, and it works extremely well. Outside of solos, the guitars never become very technical, and the bass tends to follow the root chords (It does have stand out lines in "Like the Angel" and "Last chance blueprint"). Despite the simplicity of the songs and relative lack of technicality on the other instruments, the drums are pretty damn fast, and are pretty much the driving force for a majority of the songs. Tim's voice works very well with the instrumentals. There is a youthful quality to it that can be heard even in the growls. Lyrical content alternates from the business-as-usual humanitarian discontent (they come off as genuine rather than trying to seem intelligent) to love and anger, where I feel they work best. The track listing is also worth mentioning. While tracks work very well on their own, I enjoy them the most when played in order. It doesn't really have the same flow to it on shuffle. While there is consistency in quality and style, there is enough variation to keep me from getting bored over the 37 minute runtime. The stand out tracks for me were "Broken English" and "Torches".
