The Flaming Lips The Soft Bulletin
Such an excellent album! Man, there are so many great things to say about this record. It's kind of sounding raw but also pure at the same time, I really can't explain it. The instrumentation is incredible, also great drum playing. Also fantastic lyrics, especially I like them on the Spiderbite Song, that's when they are really funny but also deliver a great message. One of my favourite moments of the album is probably that one part in The Spark That Bled after Wayne sings "caused a chain reaction", such an awesome instrumental and vocal combination. I must say that I enjoy the first half of the album a little more than the second; in the end

Sadly most tracks here don't resonate with me, even after lots of listens. There are some epic cuts here though, like for example closing track Yr City's a Sucker.

Unlike apperently most other people I find this album to be very consistent. I really can't think of a track here I don't enjoy and picking a least favourite is also not easy. The vocals on this record sound emotional to me but not to the point that they are whiny. I also enjoy the spectrum of instrumentation on the songs, not too narrow to sound repetitive, but also not too wide so the songs feel like they belong together.

great post punk album with an aggressive vibe. I also like the lyrics, they're kind of funny often.
