| Mastodon Leviathan Terrific songwriting on Mastodon's second album. I'm blown away by the sheer magnitude of their music and the technical guitar riffs and the complex jazz/metal drum fusion fills and rhythms. The bass isn't quite brought out enough though, and the vocals are at times a little rough, but overall "Leviathan" is a terrific album. Takes a couple listens, but it grows on you. | 2.5 01.01.70 | | Angels and Airwaves We Don't Need to Whisper They don't really focus in on the musical side as opposed to the ambient side. If you like soundscapes, here's your album, but if you want to hear some good tunes, inspired lyrics, and overall appeal, this is not your album. It was pretty sucky, dull, and overhyped. Gross, gross, gross album. | 2.5 01.01.70 | | Coheed and Cambria From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness Prog metal at it's finest. Each member has a ton of talent, and the songwriting is fantastic. Claudio Sanchez has a unique voice that might turn off some listeners, but I enjoy it very much. The epicness of the album is out of this world, and it comes off very strong and hits you right in the gut. Coheed and Cambria pulled it off and in a very big way. Great album. | 4.5 01.01.70 | | Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
