Denzel Curry
King of the Mischievous South
I think this is his best. The track list breathes a lot better and the added songs bring a lot of heat. The whole record feels more fleshed out. Only thing that detracts from it, slightly, is that HOODLUMZ also got released on Playthatboizay's VIP, which it feels like more of a favor to him since Rocky is on it, and doesn't detract too much from the album closer.

Maxo Kream
Personification
Feels like a big step down from Weight of the World. Same themes, same ideas, same retreads. Production has more of a cloud rap vibe versus the lean-jazz thing he did on WotW. This is not a bad album but is the worst/safest/most boring of his major label stuff. He sounded super bored on his Denzel feature and this album feels the same. He definitely needs a reset because the talent is there but this album just feels unnecessary.

The Nothing That Is
Best of the "new era" I think. My favorite FFAA is Hellbound but this could become my second favorite with time. Was not a big fan of the cleans on their last two albums, but they are great here, and it's not as much of a mid tempo chug fest as The Great Collapse. Could see myself bumping the rating with time. I've heard them labeled as Post Deathcore and it definitely feels true here.

Exhibition of Prowess
this is sick. people call this band simple but their song structures are so complex now compared to their early chuggy stuff. this is like Absolute on steroids. theory of mind is the weakest song on here, everything else is insane. album doesn't overstay it's welcome and holds up with Absolute as the best of their discography. the way the whole band works like a unit on Low Tech is crazy

Sleez Religion
album is sick, cover art is sick, never would've thought this guy had this many fire tracks in him but its a great front to back listen.

ASAP Ferg
Still Striving
This album is actually so good, definitely Ferg's best. It has aged really well and sounds super modern in 2024, the features are absolutely stacked (with only a few duds) and all the tracks have a really distinct atmosphere. Dirty and sprawling, it's hard to call cuts like Mattress REMIX and Nandos anything but weird, but on a good system they sound absolutely massive. Trap and a Dream, East Coast REMIX, Rubber Band Man all go so hard. I feel like Always Strive and Proper just trashed this guy's reputation, and rightfully so, but Still Striving is probably the best album from A$AP, not including Live Love since it is a mixtape and is largely

Kenny Mason
9
If he had released this project as one album it would've been legendary. Instead we got one perfect EP (6), and a bunch of good-great-amazing tracks. If anything holds back Kenny it's his lack of consistency, every album has had some admirable stabs at experimentation that just don't work out. I think this could've been his best project if he just took the best stuff from this, FACTS, and all the stuff off 6.
