Canadian Softball Awkward and Depressed
It's all made me chuckle, and some of the tracks (Average Joe, Great Again, Pink Wednesday) feel like parody as much as genuine pop-punk, which is nice, but all together it just feels like too much. It is done well, performed well yet not so cohesive in sound as it is parody, which may be okay for some. But the humor does not disguise the fact that it feels all over the place; even if it's trying to make fun of every facet of pop-punk it still feels like there is no centric nature to the record. Which bugs me. May not bug others. Idk, fuck it. I like it.

Brand New Science Fiction
Brand New evade the hype train by releasing a record out of nowhere, which was a good play. The record is fine, engrossing and emotive as per usual yet lacks the energy of early records that made us fall in love with our beloved Brand New. They played their hand correctly if this is their last record, and honestly I love it, just not amazed.

A Lot Like Birds DIVISI
One of those records that is neither as good or as bad as anyone makes it out to be. Also, we have a case of "if this was a different band," playing to both the strengths and weaknesses of the record when regarding the overall response from fans. I enjoy this record for what it is but besides a few choice moments, it doesn't grip me much. I don't care if ALLB has changed, I just want more convincing material.

Nothing touches Salt, which is beyond phenomenal in many respects, but it all comes together nicely.

Senses Fail Pull the Thorns from Your Heart
Even with certain musical decisions coming across a bit cluttered, Senses Fail are way more cathartic and carnal than ever. Despite lacking the flashy songwriting that once defined them, the dudes still create a record that pulverizes you while making you feel good about it.
