neekafat I think those two takes are what we're meant to be grappling with, the spinning top as it were. I think it could definitely go either way, but I definitely the fact that he's lived with those mutations for so long is meant to imply that he could survive. And yeah, I think that if the "world without pain" element were emphasized more in the script and marketing then the film would've done much better--but I do think that element informs the rest of the world completely.
