Perhaps a little less consistent than ATLiens, the high points on this album are among the greatest works in the history of rap music. Let's forget about Return of the G, Rosa Parks, Aquemini, Synthesizer, Da Art of Storytellin parts 1&2,and Chonkyfire, all songs that would be considered the best on most other albums. Spottieottiedopaliscious and Liberation. All I have to say. The other tracks, Skew it on the Bar-B, Slump, West Savannah, and Y'all Scared are all fantastic as well. One song, track 11, Mamacita, is pretty weak, other than a solid verse from 3 stacks, but it is followed up by Spottieottiedopaliscious, which makes Mamacita a distant memory by the time the 7 minute masterpiece comes to a close.

Yeah, 'fraid I don't get this one. Poppy, plasticy production. Eminem used the Chonkyfire beat for a reason: it's fucking corny. Lyrically the album compromises by tossing in a bunch of boring gangsta shit, pretty disappointing after ATLiens. There are like two or three good tracks, just not enough in an hour+ long album.

As soon as track 2 comes in, it is easy to see this is a new, determined OutKast. ATLiens was great, but they trumped it with this one. A big but very consistent album that also welcomes risks - interludes, skits, a barebones jail-phone rap, old b-sides, whatever they want, wherever possible.

Outkast is a group that truly has soul. The moral musings of Andre 3000 and Big Boi laid over the neo-soul influence southern rap beats is a good combination. The brisk flows of Andre and Antwan delivered with their southern, African-American preacher voices also serve as a good combination. So what holds this album back? The layout. The 2-minute skits between each song disturbs the listening experience, and thus, takes away from the likability of some songs, in addition, the back end of the album is pretty sketchy, with some of the best songs on the album, and some of the worst.3.3/5

I Love Andre 3000. I don't what it is I love about him. Probably its his voice. Anyway, This album is great rap. "Even the sun goes down heroes eventually die. Horoscopes often lie and sometimes "y". nothin' is for sure nothin' is for certain nothin' lasts forever. But until they close the curtain it's him & I Aquemini." That line always puts me in awe. Although "Aquemini" is not my favortie song. The best song on the album is "Rosa Parks". Its rhymes are pure genius and that cowbell stays through the whole song. Although "Return of the 'G'" is an amzing song. Amazing album.
