3.0 good | acorncheese | October 18th 10 | Wow.....literally sounds like a compilation of remixed songs from their first two albums (which range from good to very good). This band went from Floydian prog-rock on their first album to pseudo-electronica on their second, and their third album mixes the aforementioned styles with industrial influence only to create fifty minutes of redundant music. I hear a very forced album with little to no creativity. Hopefully this was just something PRR needed to get out of their system in order to grow as a band.

2.0 poor | HereComesTheStorm33 | November 9th 10 | A repetitive album that i personally can't enjoy, some parts are good but most times this fails at music. This band often lacks creativity and becomes a lot predictable.

3.0 good | CrazyFool84 | October 31st 10 | The jump modern progressive-rockers Pure Reason Revolution made between the darling days of their debut The Dark Third and 2009’s Amor Vincit Omnia to the band’s 2010 follow-up Hammer and Anvil will undoubtedly be a bit startling to fans of the unit. Embracing a heavily electronic presence, there are moments on this disc where the band is unrecognizable from their former selves. The stylistic changes are admirable, as the band obviously wants their sound to grow and evolve with modern music rather than stagnate with the sounds of the past. Still, instead of feeling comfortably meshed into the band’s progressive sound, the electronic vibe seems to permeate the overall output, leaving very little prog-rock in the traditional sense. The album is far from a bad listen; it will probably take a couple spins or more to get a decent handle on the new sound, but the direction is still promising. Hopefully this new flirtation with experimentation (too much?) will lead to a symbiotic relationship between the 70’s –influenced prog and the modern influenced electronica.

0.0 | Obfuscation24 | October 16th 10 | Pure Reason Revolution are back with their 3rd full length album, and it definitely doesn't disappoint. Although I personally enjoyed the the electronic influence on Amor Vincit Omnia, the band seemed to cut back a little in regards to that type of sound after a slight backlash from the fanbase. Either way though, they still sound great, and this is already one of my favorite albums from 2010.
