I'd enjoy this a lot more if it wasn't for the vocals, which are way too high in the mix. At times they even sound comical. However, the instrumentation is solid: opener "The Tomb Within" contains Slayer-esque guitar solos and great verses. A decent death metal outing.

Autopsy's first material as a band in over a decade, and obviously their best since
death/doom crossover classic Mental Funeral. The lyrics are, in my opinion, better than many
of the lyrics on Severed Survival and Mental Funeral. There are still vile, but they have a
sense of eloquence and aim for something other than pure shock. The way they are sung,
however, is disappointing. Either Reifert's throat is a little tired from all that growling
over the years or he was just sick in the studio. They are very loud, often taking
precedence over the other instruments, and shouted in an oftentimes pretty funny way. Other
than that, this is a solid EP and thankfully strays very far away from the crust punk-
inspired Acts of the Unspeakable and Shitfun.
