Their most gorgeous, cinematic and refined compositions to date. This might become my
ultimate autumn record. Just as somber as it is hopeful, and as musically inspired as
ever.Steve Lamos' drumming is at the heart of the record, and while everyone is excellent,
his work is truly standout.

Only listened twice but this is probably their best besides the first album. I know a lot of people liked LP3 and it had some cool ideas but I feel this album is much more interesting. So if you didn't like 2 or 3 you might be surprised by this one. There are some really cool songs here like "Patron Saint of Pale".

Autumnal and melancholic, legitimately beautiful at parts. Midsection is somewhat slow and samey, but in spades, LP4 is almost as fresh and moving as American Football's wonderful debut. STANDOUTS: Desdemona, Wake Her Up, Man Overboard, No Soul To Save.

As a consistently distant observer and approver of AF, I think this will be the album that really lands that phase. This sounds so good and has so so much going on more than meets the initial listens. Just the most patient rock band around getting smarter and more patient. Glad to fully finally be in.
