I have never been and still am not an Alcest fan. Their one-note style of blackgaze and post-metal feels so dated at this point and I?m kind of shocked that people are still enjoying it. Especially with a lot of the newer and more exciting styles of blackgaze out there today, definitely give other acts a try because Alcest just sounds dated.

The music on this album is a wonderful best of Alcests' music and it is also the best album by Alcest. My only complaint is that i like the album much more until the song Flamme jumelle than i like it after this song. Overall Les Chants de L'Aurore stays as the most touching album of 2024 in the hard & heavy/metal genre besides Pallbearers' Mind Burns Alive.

Following this band from the beginning it is awesome to see them continuing forth with the signature shoe-gaze meets metal sounds that has been so successful. 'Les Chants de L'Aurore' doesn't bring a whole lot of new to the table but it sounds good from a production standpoint and has that bright, uplifting and warm feeling that it seems like only Alcest can provide. Sure there have been better shoe-gazey, purely beautiful Alcest records in the past and ones that balance the blackgaze feels a bit better but this is still a very nice output by the man who innovated the style more than fifteen years ago.

Les chants de l'aurore isn't really shaking Alcest's formula, but it further proves its effectiveness. This newest album dials down on the heaviness of its predecessor to hint back at the infamous Shelter era - for a slightly better result.

I have been an Alcest fanboy for 15 years and even I can't get down with this. Neige really mailed it in for this one and it doesn't matter cause u idiots are eating it up lmao. Anyone putting this on the level of Ecailles and/or Kodama is either on meth or deaf.
