As for the recording itself, I shall freely admit that I have never actually listened to
it. While some of the more pedestrian minds on this reviewing site may scoff at such an
audacious a priori judgment, a refined and sagacious mind such as my own can arrive at
universal truths in the total absence of examination, through the rigorous science of
deduction.
To be brief: I had no need to offend my sense of decency to realize that this soulless
mechanical dirge could be of no merit whatsoever. The noisome contrivances of one Herr
Moog in the hands of a talentless manual laborer can never aspire to the awe-inspiring
brilliance of the human soul, as mediated through the pineal gland which realizes its
peerless intellect. And before any of the miserable plebeian hecklers incite me to listen
to this horrendous cacophony, I should like to add that I have already reduced the album
to shivers with a mallet.

Starts very cool on a spacey psych-ish guitar tone that is very much in keeping with the artwork and got me very excited as to where this album could go. Alas this is an aesthetic taht only comes back on the outro of 1, and also a bit with the synths on the closing track 5. Otherwise this is mostly a regular doomthrone album for the most part, with some tracks being quite successful and some less. between its spacey intro and outro, 1 works well although the vox are kind of faltering in power imo and arent all that hot anymore. 2 starts off with good riffage despite its slow tempo but the vox really suffer again, and also the track loses steam a bit and by the midtrack it's quite a lot less engaging imo. 3 however saves things, being one of the cooler, angrier and most atmospheric DT tracks in a long while as far as I remember. Complemented the rain here very nicely, and probably the track I am most likely to come back to. 4 has a gorgeous distorted opening tone in the intro but unfolds quite terribly into an okay less energetic track that just feels underwhelming after 3 but works ish in a vacuum. At 6:30 or so it finally wakes up and becomes quite cool. 5 is more relaxed and spacey which works quite nicely as an outro. The album would be a lot better if each track was cut in half and only kept its good half to make a 20min spacey EP if I'm honest imo. 3.4

They just never stop bringing quality albums. Eternal Hails works on minimalistic levels: stripped back but killer doomy riffs, some clean psych tones (and synths!) here and there to match the cover. Despite these ornaments, the record's best feats are those damn riffs, efficient, old-school sounding, and hella memorable.

Other than the expected "doomthrone" riffs, Eternal Hails turned out something really new. The Norwegian duo put together a very exciting old-school metal record, and induced some unexpected elements into their sound (bits of clean guitars and SYNTHS for example). But of course: riffs which will be remembered eternally.
