This was a borderline miserable experience for me. First, Weezer sold this as their metal album - there's maybe four songs that fit the billing. Two, nearly all the melodies are as bland and tasteless as the worst Weezer albums since the late 2000's. Third, super bland production.rOn a positive note I noticed not everything has quantized perfectly, there's moments where Patrick Wilsons drumming is slightly not perfect.rI only gave Van Weezer one spin, which is unacceptable for writing reviews or even forming a true opinion on said album - That said, Van Weezer makes The Father of All Mother Fuckers look brilliant.

Listen to the single version of "Beginning of the End (Wyld Stallyns Edit)." Then listen to the album version. The . . . Cuomo edit? It sounds neutered. Album isn't good, either. Some decent song ideas, but the total package is packaged to shit. That sense of *space* on OK Human? Gone. This is the Weezer Zone. Cool kids only.

Not as bad as I have found other albums by Weezer to be, but I have never been a fan of the band even for their early classics that will go down as some of the most pinnacle and important alternative rock albums and power pop records of all time. Still an interesting direction and honestly it might be a fun listen if you don?t think too hard about it.

They've come back so strong. After nearly 4 months, Weezer has put out one of their most energetic songs yet. The End of the Game is told from the perspective of a Rivers Cuomo. This album will be great.

Right, so what to say here... I'm both overwhelmed and underwhelmed by this one. It's once again Weezer retreating back to inconsistent territory where we get a mix of both good AND bad a la Green Album & Maladroit, a.k.a. Weezer playing to their strengths... ...and weaknesses. There are a few things to enjoy here still (Beginning of the End and Precious Metal Girl), but Blue Dream is forgettable (not to mention it completely rips off Crazy Train - seriously?). So I guess it's still another 21st century Weezer album at the end of the day, even with multiple disclaimers.

While its obvious which Weezer album is the better quality one this year, I didn't mind this one. There are more good songs than their previous mediocre records and the low points aren't at the same level of Black Album/Pacific Daydream.
