A lot of people don't like this album because of the new direction. If you go into it with a clear head and not thinking of Sonny singing it is a perfectly good album. Nothing special but a joy to listen to

CD is definitely fun as hell. Tracks like "The Other Side" and "A Perfect Mess" prove this fairly well. Every song on here is solid aside from "Tick-Tock Tomorrow" which isn't a bad song it just slows the whole thing down. "In Memorium in Advance" is another drag. But doesn't take away the fact that this is a fun rock record that deserved more praise than it got. Underrated would be the word I suppose. I've always preferred this to their older work. Shame it was basically disowned by the band.

Matt Good was a welcoming addition to From First to Last, Sonny moving on to do better things and the band trying to find they're "destiny" so to speak. You can't come at this album expecting the older FFTL style, everything is now more organized and put on an average song mapping style. You can expect a verse-chorus-verse-chorus set up in all of the songs here, which is quite a change when talking about From First to Last, but it helps in it's own little ways while also taking away what made older albums as enjoyable as they were. Screaming here is rarely heard and everything just presents a more alternative style than the post-hardcore roots. Matt is good though (see what I did there), his higher toned singing style fits with the production and style easily. Like the music though, it feels warn out and overdone about the halfway point. The first grouping of songs, 'Two As One', 'The Other Side' and 'Worlds Away' are fantastic, a true representation of the direction headed towards with the album. As we move on though it all goes downhill, interest flaps away in the wind and things become a little more forgettable. A song here and there can catch your attention and make the listen memorable, but others just make you want to hit that skip button. What it comes down to here is simply; what's next? The album following this has been released and is the strongest in FFTL's discography, but at this point wondering what would happen next was nothing more than a blur. This is good, but work is needed in a lot of places in order to pick back up where the band left off.

To be honest, I was interested that band when I played a game NFS Undercover. It gets freaky boring when I listen to 'em.
It was a wasted of money, I'd say.
We all turn into dust, Deliverance! and Worlds away. Those songs I can keep in my mind.

This album is a crushing disappointment in so many ways. Looking at what FFTL used to be and then looking at this is almost disgusting. The band is a weakened, diminished shell of it's former self without Sonny, that's really the bottom line. Without his emotionally charged wails, the weak guitar and bass lines really stand out, and there's only so much that drummer Derek Bloom can do to pick up the slack. If there is one good thing about the album, it's that Derek always gives 110% on every song.
There's no reason why this record should exist. Matthew is not only a mediocre vocalist (only really serving as a good vocalist as Sonny's backup), he's simply not fit to front the band.
I can't name one song I'd like to listen to again off this record, it's awful on so many levels.

Honestly, this was the first record I have ever heard of these guys, and I only bought the album because of the price, but i have to say, it's not bad at all. The singer (Matt Good, I think) proves he can lead a band but lacks range. The music was fast and hard, but did leave you wanting more. Overall, not bad, though. It was a good listen and I would recommend it as a good "driving a long distance and I need something fast to listen too," record.
