"Single Handed Attempt At Revolution" features the best use of the spoken-word passage in all the land of metalcore. Album flattens everything in its path.

I can see why this is so acclaimed. Dark christian themes blended with unrelenting mathcore sounds
great on paper. But while bands like Zao manage to craft truly cold sounding records through the
use of samples, cold guitar tones and tortured vocals, bands like TFU fall flat on their face in
clumsy attempts with ambient noise and brute force.
Any sense of atmosphere or cohesion is lost through the lack of space here. Sure, the guitars go
hard sometimes and its all pretty damn chaotic, but not in any special way. Too much of little
note going on in each song. Not that anythings especially bad here, its just not especially good
and the use of electronics seems fake and over the top. Theyre taking their selves too seriously,
which is why their 2nd album is so good as its the complete opposite

This is a great Metalcore album. What is amazing about it is just the raw and heavy production, but with surprisingly clear vocals with a powerful message. Kept my attention up, I was only a little bummed at the end when there was literally silence for a good amount of the last song for a long time, this did not take too much away from the rest of the amazing album but it was a little disappointing still.

Uncompromisingly heavy, Ryan Clark's vocal performance easily matches many of the metalcore elite. To think he moved on to Demon Hunter is a shame. Absolute classic for the metalcore genre, and a great reminder of what solidstate was.

another stunning metalcore gem forgotten. truly, it fucking slays. absolutely unrelenting and chaotic, while still providing a fair variety of songs and even ambiance and melody throughout. it ventures where other early metalcore acts did not with their ambient experimentation while still providing a consistently interactive and brutal listen. an interesting and varied, but still consistently intense and pummeling listen. will probably bump rating up to a 4.5 after consistent listens. a definite recommendation for fans of Zao, Botch, Coalesce, and other early metalcore acts.
