1.0 awful | natey | March 13th 08 | Occasionally I get concerned that my inner mocking of friends who obsess over the mainstream might be undeserved. I mean I love catchy music, maybe these mainstream bands aren't all that bad. However, I am encouraged by this record. Avenged Sevenfold has to be the worst album I've heard in a long time. Gone is any trace of the enjoyable Waking the Fallen, which they'd already basically forgotten on City of Evil. It's been replaced by whatever you call the crap on this record. All of the lyrics on the record are ridiculous, and the melodies on the record are alternately dreadful and silly. "Scream" is atrocious. "Brompton Cocktail" (I'm basically throwing out random tracks I remember; every track qualifies by being terrible) makes me want to eat bricks and stick scissors in my ears. I understand why 'emo' kids are so depressed if this is what they listen to. I'd be sad too.

0.0 | Ouch | May 22nd 08 | This has got to be the least lasting album to listen to ever. I used to love to listen to this, but it's gotten so obnoxious that I'd rather beat my head in with a chair. There are about two tracks that aren't ruined by all the crappy gimmicks that A7x try (Brompton Cocktail, Gunslinger), and even they don't hold a candle to A7x's past work. Unbound (The Wild Ride) would have been the best song if it weren't for that stupid children's chorus at the end. Dear God would have been a fine ballad if M. Shadows would stop trying to be Garth Brooks. See the problem with this album other than the gimmicks they try (Lost uses a voice box, that's no typo), M. Shadows is a (all jokes aside) shadow of himself. City Of Evil had some decent lyrics, and Walk The Fallen had Chapter 4, which A7x is not really trying to top. Now M. Shadows can't sing or write to save his pathetic life. The Rev writes a few songs too, but he wrote the worst song ever, which is on this album (if you don't know I am talking about A Little Piece of Heaven, please leave now.) What a disappointment

1.0 awful | Dakota West Foss STAFF | April 24th 08 | Avenged Sevenfold produce a pile of filth that conveys a very misunderstood vision of metal to the MTV masses. Whiny vocals, horrible lyrics, done-to-death riffs, and just mediocrity in general make this a tiring, boring, and pointless listen. Overall, these guys just don't even seem to be trying anymore and I couldn't care less. I hope this release puts Zacky Vengeance, M. Shadows, and the rest of the lot in the poor house. Someone needs to inform these guys that they don't have to jump this high to get over the proverbial shark.

4.5 superb | rxdxh08 | March 19th 08 | The review you gave must be as poor as the ear drums you listen with. Obviously you like Bethoven Bach and other old fart music so let the metal / punk fans decide how amazing this cd was. M Shadows voice gets better and better as he sings on each song. Synyster, appart from being the son of Guitar Guy from Jeff Dunham's comedy, is demanded respect and he deservably deserves it. Zack and Johnny both in my opinion deserve more credit, and solo oppurtunities, for being important parts of this kick ass group and not to mention The Rev must not go unrecognized. His bass hits are undeniably insane and are Brompton Cocktails of their own. Euphoria drowns people when they listen to this cd. I have come to realize why you are determined to destroy this cd with your invalid words. You, like most haters of A7X, think they have washed or sold out to what mainstream pop culture has wanted them to be when in fact they made a decision to produce their own cd and, yes, portray what they as individuals, in a collective effort, like as music. Each song goes into depth with the lyrics as if each has been or is living in those situations. The words spoken have a transcending effect on the ears of audiences and have and way of changing viewpoints on subjects such as rape like in "Scream". In that song they give you every angled as though they have experienced those emotions and events. In the words of AC/DC " To those of you who are about (especially to AC/DC or A7X) we salute you." Just not with the same salute described in Critical Acclaim.....well fuck it (middle finger to screen)

2.5 average | Poet | November 30th 07 | This album isn't as good as I wanted it to be. I was pumped up for this after hearing the epicness of City of Evil. Critical Acclaim is a below average song, only good part is The Rev. Brompton Cocktail is a kick a$$ song though, so is Gunslinger and Dear God. In Fact, those are the only good songs on here. I will say that Afterlife and Lost have good solos though. But this is easily a disappointment from Avenged Sevenfold.

1.0 awful | X3ni92 | May 8th 09 | Want my opinion, don't give Avenged SHITfold your money, espically for this crap fest of an album (:
Save your money for a Carnival coming to town, or for a hot dog.
If you see this album up for sale for $0.50 or less, buy it and destroy it with your friends, its much more fun to destroy it then listen to it.

3.5 great | OllieS | August 15th 08 | Extremely experimental record, and even if some of the experiments fail, each song is fresh and creative, meaning the album is difficult to get bored of. It seems the album has become trendy to hate, which is a shame, because there are some real gems here, such as 'Almost Easy' and 'Afterlife'. 'Brompton Cocktail' is a fantastic atmospheric song if there ever was one, and 'A Little Piece Of Heaven' is a great multi-faceted song (extended choruses usually don't work, but they pulled it off), even if it takes a while to get used to. Also a shout-out to the Rev's drumming, powerful and creative, a model for most Metal drummers.

5.0 classic | HelloKiddies | August 23rd 11 | Avenged Sevenfold come out raging with an absolutely extraordinary new album, over-shadowing their previous attempts which were, honestly, awful. Waking the Fallen and to an extent City of Evil are boring and honestly useless attempts to break into the music industry. But this album changes it. Avenged Sevenfold finally release a coherent album that doesn't involve ear-bursting singing, over-the-top guitars and disgusting choruses.
This album has all the aspects a good metal album should have; Awesome vocals, gutsy guitars and a thumping bass-line. The only downside to the album is the drumming, which frankly, lacks effort. Musically and structurally, this is their best work. M.Shadows sounds better than ever, his voice creating a new bar line that even towers upon the likes of James Hetfield. Shadows finally invokes a new technique of singing. Some call it whiny. I call it genius. His new style of singing can be heard best on Critical Acclaim.
The choruses have changed, and for the better. There are less of that nuisance called 'breakdowns,' and now the choruses are catchy and lyrically superior. Almost Easy and Afterlife contain some of these exemplary choruses.
The guitar extraordinaire Synyster Gates is screwing his guitar much like I would like to screw Mila Kunis. Solos surround the listener, and it's hard not to be slightly unnerved by some of the guitar-work weaved in by Zacky and Syn. The breakdown on Critical Acclaim exemplifies Syns status as 'the greatest guitarist of all time,' and to be honest, this is a well-deserved title.
The drumming is horrible, the guitar awesome, and the singing at an all-time high, this album is the best of the best.

5.0 classic | djraisor1 | June 2nd 11 | This is my favorite of all the Avenged Sevenfold albums! I love the Lyrical content, Guitar work, Vocal performaces, and Drum work.
Critical Acclaim: I love the screaming of Matt, The guitar from Synster and Zacky, and the singing from The Rev just riddles me every time. 5/5
Almost Easy: This is my Favorite song from A7X ever!!! I love how it starts hard yet at the same time melodic and calming. 5/5
Afterlife: This is Very excellent, To me, Anyone who believes this not to be metal, is nothing short of idiotic. 5/5
Scream: If your in the Halloween mood, I highly Recommend listening to this song! I love the sweet guitar riffs on this song. 4.5/5
Gunslinger: I love the slow start for this song and Then the brief heavy part, only to return to more melodic stuff, Plus i love the lyrical content for the soldiers in this song.4.5/5
Dear God: Though I will admit this song is different from their usually sound, the songs lyrical content is very moving for me. 4/5
Lost: Though the auto-tune use in the song ruins it, The Singing and excellent guitat work truly is able to compensate. 4/5
Unbound(The Wild Ride): While the lyrical content is inspiring, All the over dubbs of the song and to me, this is the one miss fire on the album 3/5
Brompton Cocktail: The song features hawaiian instrumental and violins, I think the feel for the music is very melodic and sweet, though i think the lyrical content could be a bit better. 4/5
A Little Piece Of Heaven: While the Most Experimental song on the album, This is one of my favorite and i truly believe this as a milestone in Metal. 4.5/5
Avenged Sevenfold is truly a work of Excellence and It is very influencal as a Heavy Metal album.
While i do miss James "The Rev" Sullivan who past away shortly before their next album, But his voice, incredible writing skill, And powerful drumming skill. Which Is why that This Album will be in my Heart, foREVer!!!

3.0 good | dalukesta | May 4th 08 | Sure, this album has its high points, but as a whole, it just is not up to the standards of Avenged Sevenfold's previous albums. It completely lacks a theme. They go from hard rock to county/slow rock to A little piece of heaven, which is just hard to categorize. In ten songs. too much diversity in this case.

3.5 great | DreamScapeVirus | November 18th 07 | Avenged Sevenfold have put fourth what they call the real Avenged Sevenfold and as a listener I can?t complain, (especially considering no other A7X album kept me listening more) the band has continued to develop their own sound, a great combination of legendary influences the band members share, ranging from Pantera, Gun?s and Rose?s, Dream Theater (most notably their lead guitarist John Petrucci) Metallica, and many other beloved Rock/Metal bands of the past.

3.0 good | snipes125 | November 12th 07 | not bad, first time i heard it i almost yacked in my mouth a little, but after giving it a few more chances it kinda grew on me, like mold on bread. Not a pleasant growth mind you, but for some reason I'm starting to like it more and more. Yea its whiny and repetitive at times, but if you take it for what it is, you can't complain much. Syn's solos are chaotic, drumming is solid and the progessions are A7X-esque. Ya i'll be the first to agree that Waking the Fallen and Sounding the Seventh Trumpet were a lot better, but COE and this are strikingly similar and are what they are, better then half the shit out there anyways, i'll take that.

1.0 awful | renovatio786 | January 27th 11 | I feel bad for anyone who sees this album as good by any means. This what I like to call "tough guy" metal. There's no talent behind the music. Just a guy sounding like a complete prick with old and tired riffs in the background running for 53 minutes too long. Can't wait for the day that these guys to fade into obscurity.

9) A Little Piece of Heaven
An 8 minute epic written by the late great Rev himself. Great song.

THIS, is how you write a ballad esque song. Better than the previous efforts of "Warmness On the Soul" and "I Won't See You Tonight Pt.1". Great closer

3.5 great | Seabhac14 | April 2nd 10 | When I first heard of these guys I didn't really like them. Although now I have warmed to them and brought all their albums I still don't think that this is the best album they have produced. Sure, no two albums should sound the same but neither did they have to stray so far away from the epic sound they had achieved on their 2005 hit City of Evil. I do admire a band when they are willing to experiment with different styles and genres but as ambitious as this album is it seems to aim to hit many grounds in rock and metal making it feel all over the place.
It opens up with a gothic style organ on 'Critical Acclaim' followed by arpeggio guitar riffs. Simplistic in many ways but it's quiet effective, especially with the highly political war message convayed by M. Shadows' lyrics. Next is the more trash metal orientated anthem that is 'Almost Easy'. I'm sure Slash would deffinatly admire the guitars in this song. It's easy to see why this track is a fovorite amongst any Avenged Sevenfold fan.
'Scream' comes next. Although the bass line and industrial style drumimg gives it a lot of groove the guitars here feel a little too repetitive and fomulaic. Still, it's dark mood seems to fit well. 'Afterlife' really is one of their best songs and a major stand-out on this album. Rythematic guitars, melodramatic lyrics, wicked solos and string quadrents galore really prove the band's creativity and imagination. A shame for 'Gunslinger' which is very generic for a ballad. It really isn't the strongest track on the album and feels to messy for its own good.
'Unbound' is a fairly more prog metal sounding track with it's slightly philosophical lyrics and hyperactive instrumentals. Not so much as epic but it certainly stands out. Again taking a dark mood is 'Brompton Cocktail'. A good track, though it feels a little too short and the guitar solo feels quiet bizarre. Contrasting this would be 'Lost' with an overall sound that is discribed by Synyster Gates as feeling "poppy" and tending to "put you in a good place". A very fast-paced and entertaining burner although the auto-tune vocals might not be everybody's cup of tea.
More than enough imagination is present with their opus ballad 'A Little Piece of Heaven'. My feeling about this song are still quiet mixed with it's circus style intrumentals and Halloween mood making it a huge leap forward for these guys, especially when telling a morbid love story which was illustrated through their flash animation music video (which I personally didn't like). Although it's cartoony sound is still questionable I find it's guilty pleasure.
Closing this album is 'Dear God', a simply Cowboys from Hell style ballad. A fair closing for a somewhat underwhelleming album.
Overall, I found that the self-titled album was an entertaining enough album if by no means their strongest. While I do like the creative freedom that they've allowed themselves by flirting with other genres they may not have realised that it's easy to get lost in such freedom, even for an experimental album. With their new album coming out this year I'd like to see them experiment more but also give us more of the lightning paced punk feel from City of Evil.

0.0 | | October 28th 07 | Good riffs. Linkin Park/Korn/90s crap metal quality lyrics. Frequently repeated choruses. Political views that make the band sound like a bunch of hicks. "..blamin' your own nation for who wins elections / You've never contributed a fucking thing to the nation you love to criticize." There is considerably less screaming, even less than City of Evil. This confirms my suspicion that City of Evil was the first step towards a sell-out. There is also heavy use of synthesizers on vocals (especially on "Lost"), I do not particularly like synthesizers when used so uncreatively (the "I sound like an alien, isn't that weird?" thing). I think Avenged Sevenfold's peak is definitely behind them. That peak was undoubtedly Waking the Fallen. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

4.5 superb | jmcparlin1 | July 2nd 11 | In my opinion this album by Avenged Sevenfold has been rated very unfairly. The album is mostly excellent, only let down by Dear God and possibly Lost (?). Either way, the other nine possibly eight songs are 10/10 in my opinion. I will put the songs in order, the first being my favourite, last being least favourite.
1) A Little Piece of Heaven
2)Afterlife
3)Critical Acclaim
4)Scream
5)Unbound (the wild ride) (fantastic drumming)
6)Almost Easy
7)Gunslinger
8)Brompton Cocktail
9)Lost
10) Dear God
A lot of people have said that every song on the album sounds the same. I'm not completely sure what drug these people are taking, but its seriously affacting their hearing. I would like to ask how A Little Piece of Heaven sounds like Critical Acclaim, if anyone can answer that I will definately be suprised.
I have only being listening to Avenged Sevenfold since january 2011 myself, and I have been very pleased all together.
The vocals on the album are excellent and pretty mucg flawless, with the infamous nasal whine gone. Shadows hits some excellent high notes on scream, or to be fair most songs. I would also like to reinforce the point that avenged sevenfold had to change their sound from screaming vocals to clean vocals because Shadows burst a blood vessel in his throat because of screaming incorrectly, it was not because they wanted to be more mainstream. Also, anyone who has the Escalation map pack for CoD: Black Ops will see that Shadows has regained the ability to scream, more about that in my review for nightmare.
More about their self titled album. It isnt quite as heavy as City of Evil but it still has the heavy vampiric nature and is certainly not as mainstream as people have said. In fact it isnt mainstream at all, anyone who knows what A Little Piece of Heaven is about will agree. There is no screaming on the album except background ones that I believe were performed by The Rev (R.I.P.) on Critical Acclaim mainly.
Like I said, dear god definately let the album down, I'm not sure why a country inspired song found its way onto the album, but it would have been better to have had a very heavy song their, to keep all of the Sounding the seventh trumpet fans happy.
All in all I think the self titled album was a success, and I would give the album a solid 4.5. The missing 0.5 would be dear god and one too few heavy tracks.

3.5 great | demonSABER | September 29th 08 | When I first listened to this cd, I wasn't pleased. I would have gave it a 2 or 3. But, I gave it a second chance. Which is something I believe a lot of people should do. This cd doesn't deserve a rating anywhere close to a 1 or 2. So, I'll ask all of you... just give it a chance. And when you do, don't go in looking for flaws. Don't go in expecting it to suck. I think people were expecting this cd to be like the other ones. And that's a big reasoning for the bad ratings.

5.0 classic | buttermilkcookie | May 10th 08 | This album was a musical masterpiece the only reason why anyone would probably hate this album is because they liked how avenged sevenfold was originally and was not ready for the leap they made when really only a couple of songs do that. They generally kept their sound from the last album but made it less metal (if City of evil could be even called metal) I enjoy all of their albums and i think they are getting more and more original as each album comes out. If you have a problem with their music then dont listen to it.

5.0 classic | brinaabean | February 14th 08 | I love this album. Granted it may not be as good as it was expected to be due to the releasing of only two singles, which were possibly the two best songs on there, but the entire album was wonderful. First time listening through, it was slightly awful. But the second and third and fourth times through, it was amazing. Even though City of Evil and Waking the Fallen were a tad bit better, I am thoroughly pleased with the outcome as an avid Avenged fan.

After hearing it the first time, i was literally asking myself "Is this a joke?", but now that i've listened to it a lot, i've found that i really like it. Afterlife is an awesome song, so is Critical Acclaim, Brompton Cocktail, Almost Easy, and the entire rest of the CD. After listening to it a lot (A LOT), i've found that i like all of the songs equally because they all have a redeeming value in them.
I was a real big fan of City of Evil and Waking the Fallen, and i think that this album is very good compared to those. It might not be as good as their old stuff, but it definitely deserves not to be given a superficial rating just because that person doesn't give it a chance.

2.0 poor | LikeWindOnANipple | June 7th 23 | Uggghhhhh. The lyrics are surface level to a very obvious detriment. This is actually the vocalist's best performance. Unfortunately, the instrumentation doesn't really try to go wild like it did on City of Evil, and instead becomes overly uniform for accessibility, which is odd because this is supposed to be more experimental, but it really doesn't feel like it. Can't really expect the level of awareness that establishes this band as an effective experimental prog group when they're writing "balls to the wall radio tunes" that overgeneralize anyone who doesn't think like them. A little more thought would've gone a long way.

3.5 great | Resident Metalhead Piranha | July 16th 17 | While not usually viewed as their worst album, A7X's self-titled release is their most polarizing release and is probably well earned by its experimental vibe and uneven tone. However, they make this experiment work, and I'm on the favorable opinion. "Critical Acclaim" wreaks of Pantera-ism and 80's extreme metal politics, but they handle it with stride in a groovy, metallic, heavy-handed tune. "Almost Easy" is a hard rocker with some impressive drumming and guitar soloing, "Scream" is a morbid groover with a danceable beat, and they dip into country at times ("Dear God" and "Gungslinger" which is an album highlight). They throw in piano, choirs, and auto-tuning ("Lost," and "Unbound (The Wild Side)," and "A Little Piece of Heaven" is a fun story-driven tune composed by The Rev. Despite this mish-mash premise, the band play as well as ever, M. Shadow's lays down his best vocal performance with the group to date, and the songs actually work. Second best A7X and better than WTF (there I said it).

3.0 good | Jared Floryan | January 4th 15 | Through my eyes, ever since the release of metalcore-turned-heavy metal outfit Avenged Sevenfold's 2005 studio album, City of Evil, this Huntington Beach-based band has become one of the most divisive 21st Century metal projects. I don't intend on explaining myself any further concerning that, however. Two years after A7X's best-selling record came Avenged Sevenfold, a self-titled effort which encompasses much of what you've come to expect from the band post-Waking the Fallen. Despite being a step down from its predecessor, the self-entitled affair is still congenial for what it is. The experimentalism on here doesn't always yield satisfactory results (e.g. the Auto-Tune on "Lost" ruins what is ultimately an okay track and the country-styled "Dear God" sounds better on paper), and frontman M. Shadows should quit aping Axl Rose while he's ahead, but in all honesty, Avenged Sevenfold is a tad better than what hordes of folks give it credit for. Angel recommends: "Critical Acclaim," "Afterlife," "Unbound (The Wild Ride)," "Brompton Cocktail," and "A Little Piece of Heaven".

3.5 great | Stop calling Intronaut post-metal | January 22nd 13 | A7X's self-titled album is incredibly experimental, but the crazy part is...most of it works. Albeit, it's not something they should attempt again. Auto-tune, country guitar styles, political rants, they all make appearances. Aside from the joke of a final track, this album has some tasty material.

0.0 | skeletorissatan | December 31st 12 | A little better than City Of Evil with a much tighter instrumental performance that actually makes this album tolerable and a slightly better vocal performance. The cliche Sevenfold fans favorite song, Afterlife, is indeed one of the better ones here, with Critical Acclaim and Almost Easy and A Little Piece Of Heaven making up the other good songs on here-the latter of those is absolutely fucking hialrious. The vocals still suck dick but are a little better than what came on City Of Evil and are probably the best clean vocal performance Shadows had put out to date but they arent that great still. The guitar work is alright although simple, so it is left to The Rev to save the album with his drumming and he more than accomplishes this with his best performance. Hearing Zachy Vengeance as the vicar in A Little Piece Of Heaven stands out as one of the most memorable moments in any hard rock album ever because its so god damn hilarious. This is still not much better than COE though and only those aforementioned songs save it from being the absolute complete and utter pile of shit fuckery that that album turned out to be

Bump |
2.5 average | DJSchraubenzieh | November 28th 11 | Contains some decent songs, but overall it's pretty average.
Bump |
3.0 good | SlickNewton | November 23rd 11 | While most of the music that appears on this album seems to be nothing, but corporate trash, a few songs are very redemptive. However, the biggest problem with this album is that none of the songs actually fit together smoothly. In other words, apart from sem-decent craftsmanship, they don't know what band they are.

2.5 average | raggedragamuffin | November 9th 11 | City of Evil was bad ass. Epic. Shredtastic. Avenged Sevenfold was kind of gross. And sad. Still shredtastic, but in smaller doses, and only near the beginning of the album. And the lyrics....abysmal. Not that that was ever a strong suit, but still. And then some truly awful tracks where they try to break out of the genre and just can't quite even make it to mediocre. The saddest part was I was so excited for this album that I actually ended up with two copies of it. And I ended up giving them both away. I Won't See You Tonight...
Bump |
3.5 great | IAmKickass | August 7th 11 | I find it pretty weird that I ended up liking an Avenged Sevenfold album as much as I do here. Their self-titled offers up a few of the strongest tracks the band has ever put out, including a nice variety of different sounds and experimentation. This is one of those rare instances where I question my musical opinions, but you know what, I enjoyed this so much more than I should.

0.0 | ncguitar | April 30th 11 | In this album, A7X has some cool songs, but as a whole the
album doesn't flow well, and there's a moment in which it starts getting dull. They took it
too far with experimentation; sometimes it worked, but otherwise it just screwed things up.
So in summary, songs 3, album 2. I'll give it a 2.5.

2.5 average | dante1991 | July 19th 10 | Ok.... first off, it's not quite as bad as most people say... but it's still bad. With this record, it seems A7X tried to be more experimental but got lost in too many styles, meaning the album doesn't flow well. Secondly, the vocals are HORRIBLE on this, as are the lyrics (what happened to the awesomeness of WTF??) and make the album sound really lame and juvenile. And the overall sound is just SO generic and predictible it sounds like Nickleback in some parts!! Poor effort.
Top 3 Tracks: "Critical Acclaim", "Afterlife", "Gunslinger"

1.5 very poor | munchman92 | March 20th 10 | i really tried to like this album. but labelling it as the equivalent of Metallica's 'Black Album' sets yourself up for a massive uphill struggle. Self indulgent tracks like 'A Little Piece of Heaven' makes me question is this still the same band that released tracks like 'Beast and the Harlot' and 'I Wont See You Tonight'?
Bump |
0.0 | FreePizzaDay | June 8th 09 | Talk about scraping the very bottom of the creativity barrel, A7X's s/t is a hodge-podge of disjointed ideas, all of which suck, and when put together, created an amalgamation of suckiness that is unparalleled. However, this IS Avenged Sevenfold, so I probably don't need to tell anyone to stay away.
Bump |
0.0 | Motiv3 | March 29th 09 | After the well acclaimed City of Evil, this album pretty much kills the progress of sound A7X made with city of evil, this is a lackluster album at best with some absolutely terrible songs, as well as country done bad, A piece of Heaven is the worst song i have heard in a while, get city of evil and avoid this at all costs.
Bump |
0.0 | ConorMichaelJoseph | March 21st 09 | Continuing the mainstream Heavy Metal/Hard Rock sound of City of Evil with their next album, A7X put out another record that still beats their Metalcore albums but falls flat compared to its predecessor. Not a bad album altogether, the instrumentation is top-notch, but Shadows' vocals and the bad lyrics bring this album down a few pegs. Best song is definitely Afterlife.

Bump |
3.0 good | AshtrayTheUnforgiven | April 9th 08 | This release from A7X wasn't terrible, but polishing and more work could have been put into this. A7X took a large gamble by trying to do a record on their own and going in the experimental direction, following a similar path that Atreyu went in with Lead Sails Paper Anchor. The difference between the A7X S/T and Lead Sails Paper Anchor though, is that A7X have a general direction, or a core in their s/t, while Atreyu's goes nowhere except in multiple directions without a map to help guide them. A damned good attempt at an experiment, turning out to be successful with songs like Critical Acclaim, Almost Easy, Afterlife, Gunslinger, and yes, even Dear God, only to fall flat on their face with A Little Piece of Heaven. Also, polishing on the production could have been done, and this record seems as though A7X is forcing a maturity.

3.0 good | bungiewolf | November 25th 07 | I got this album thinking it would rock because I heard Critical Acclaim and Almost Easy before the album came out, and I thought they were pretty good songs. Then I got the album and listened to it. To me, the songs sound half baked and repetitive. They repeat over and over, which makes it not very interesting. The worst osng on the album is 'A Little Piece of Heaven". It is arranged well, but it sounds more like a Panic at the Disco song then Avenged Sevenfold. All the guitar solos were good, just everything else sucked.

3.5 great | metalboy123 | November 7th 07 | A decent album by a decent band. I'm a fan of all their work this is not the very best but still good. Almost easy is a bit like Bat country but still cool. Just because their not afraid to develop their sound people should'nt slag them off all the time. You would give them shit if they kept on doing the same metalcore albums over and over again so don't give them too much crap

It wasn't what I was expecting when they said that it was not going to be radio friendly when there are a few songs that are the definition of radio friendly. I'll listen to it some more and see if I really don't like it or it's just a reaction to that "It wasn't what I expected" feeling.
