Really great album!Upon first listen i found it too heavy and way progressive for Queensryche standards,the rchange in the bands sound is dramatic,then again Queensryche always changed their sound while keeping the rcore elemnts intact.Thats what they did on Condition Human also,its no different than their change from The Warning to Rage for Order.Whip and Parker kill it on the guitars,insane guitar work.Scott Rock is on steroids or rsomething,BEAST,EdBass once again puts in conjuction with Rockenfield the foundations of the album and La rTorre injected his own style on this one,people who call him a Tate clone will need to find something new to raccuse him of cause the clone statement is bs with his delivery on the album.r

Alright, here it is, my long awaited opinion.rWe all know the story... first favorite band at 7 or 8 years old, got the Promised Land totem pole on my spine...etc...etc.rFirst. This album is definitely a grower, which is a good thing in my book. Helps this out a lot. There are some great songs on here, and some duds.rI've come to the conclusion after two albums that Todd is a great vocalist. Not so sure he's a great lyricist. Geoff, in his day, definitely has him beat there.rMichael and Parker are also great guitarists, not taking anything away from their technical ability. But I find a lot of the times that solo's end up just dwindling away, and not really fitting the song. Chris was phenomenal, so its hard not to compare.rStarting this off with a 3.5, but I think it will probably rise shortly.

Hitting this with a 4.5 for now, simply because it is such a vast improvement over almost everything they have done since Promised Land. I did like the 2013 release, but it was short, and the band sort of played it safe there, so that got rated a tick lower, even though it was also a big improvement.

Let's face it- Queensryche have never had the best writing, at least since DeGarmo left. Now that Tate is gone too, the band can shine again. Still though, the songs in general are kind of bland and simply not that good. The album is also hurt by weak production, most notable in Todd's excellent though slightly process-sounding voice. That said, Queensryche sound incredibly fresh here, creating their best album in years.

An excellent expansion of the self-titled album that infuses a little more of that classic Queensryche sound as well. The band have really forged their own identity here, and tracks like Guardian, Hellfire and the title track can slot in proudly among the band's best tracks. And yes, Todd soars on this.
