2.0 poor | GiantSpeck | April 28th 14 | Red is dead. While it is admirable for the band to admit mistakes and offer to make amends with long-time fans, Red's "recalibration" of its 2013 album, Release the Panic, is what appears to be an awful attempt to combine a remix album with an acoustic album. The result is actually more insulting to Red's signature sound than the album it is supposed to be fixing. When it's not buried under chugging guitars and drums, the string instrumentation actually works against the music and is completely unimaginative, at times acting as a "backup singer" of sorts to lead vocalist Michael Barnes. The tempo of "So Far Away", "Glass House", and "As You Go" have been considerably slowed, which might throw off listeners who are used to the quicker originals. Barnes's reworked vocals sound detached and underproduced.

1.5 very poor | Toondude | April 25th 14 | Unnecessary, acts more of an apology letter to their fanbase, and the strings are more of a distraction rather than part of their style. It just flat out sucks.

2.0 poor | christopher164 | November 27th 20 | "Run And Escape" is a weird song, but kinda fun and better than most of the original project. The strings in many of these "recalibrated" versions seem a little forced, but they can be enjoyable. The highlight on this project is the reimagined version of "As You Go," as it strips down the original for a track that feels like a loving hug.

1.5 very poor | davezillaMP3 | May 8th 20 | While I do appreciate the sentiment of this apology, its still not very good "Glass house" is the
only good one here. The mixing here is rather poor and the string additions range from barley
audible to unnecessary. I guess release the panic is an unsalvigable record

3.0 good | Trey STAFF | June 18th 14 | Re-doing the album with more symphonic elements didn't make it any better. They sound like an after thought (kind of like Metallica's S&M album).

2.5 average | marshal46 | April 29th 14 | The recalibrated versions mostly are improvements upon their originals. However, the difference is so minimal that it simply reveals what was known before: these songs from "Release the Panic" are simply subpar, with or without strings. "Run and Escape" is at least a decent rocker, and the new intro to "Damage" is pretty rocking, but otherwise this is a pretty unnecessary release. The new version of "As You Go" sucks away the original song's best aspect: its eery atmospheric nature.
