The capacity of human intelligence seems to limit the capabilities to expand upon any rpossible creative aptitudes. Indeed, if one cannot even notice the facets that the ringenuities around him are comprised of, how can he be expected to fashion a beast of his rown? This inveterate sense of constraint is a great blow to the veracity of mankind's rabilities. It restrains us and holds our minds to the ground below, averting any possibility rof rising above ourselves to something greater; something not fathomed by the conventional rmind. This concept of seeking to go beyond one's self, known as "transcendence", is ressentially a gateway to unlocking pieces of ourselves that can lead to some of the most relaborate and significant creations of our world. For many, this quest to transcend and form rcreations that were once considered unthinkable and overwhelming consumes life. Certainly it ris rare to find such people, but when they are found, creative barriers are destroyed.

Absolutely killer riffs, but it's Darkthrone so no surprise there. Probably their best since Panzerfaust.

First of all before anything else, Fenriz and Nocturno Culto sounded like they had a lot of fun making this album (they did not have worry about being so uptight and "hardcore" as they were in their old days of black metal) and showing who influenced them greatly. Their effort in making true, classic metal was good, but nothing great. There was definitely some very good moments on this album, but the rest was OK. Sometimes I felt like I would rather just listen some the old classic metal bands themselves. Still, good effort by Darkthrone, I hope they can come out with more stuff like this that sounds more original than this album.

Who could fault Darkthone for doing what they do? Certainly there is nothing surprising going on here, but that's okay we don't need surprises. Darkthrone write the music they want to write.

Abandoning crust punk elements, this is a return to classic heavy metal shit with elements of thrash, black, and punk. Sounds messy? It kind of is, but damn it riffs hard. The vocals are at times meh, but if this record is to be remembered, it's for how fun its galaxy of riffs is.

Without question my favourite in this Darkthrone era. The vocals are often quite alright although there are a couple areas where it still hurts, but more importantly this one is far riffier and fatter than its predecessors, evoking thrash metal and bands such as Hellhammer on a good day. The vocals are worst on 2,4, and 6 when they remind of glam metal/power metal almost. The last track in particular dropped this a couple points because some of the vocals are frankly ridonkulous, and the track is way too long although it does have great riffage like everything else here. Far more fun and enjoyable across the board this one thanks to the power of RIFFZ - unlike its predecessors I might come back to it. 3.5

Wow this album is just riffs upon riffs upon riffs, I mean there is a fucking mountain of riffs here and its not like a small hill its a fucking Everest of riffs. One of the best post black metal era Darkthrone album, they seem to have so much fun on this one that I can't help but smile while listening. Amazing record.

"The Underground Resistance" is the Darkthrone venturing once again into a different style. The presence of Crust-Punk and Chaotic Hardcore strip the whole Black Metal identity, which was to be expected in this transition phase. I always like to point out that it's not every band that can really venture into other genres, and i see that Darkthrone has failed in some ways. "The Underground Resistance" has good songs, but in general, they come together to create an average album.
