3.0 good | Jared Floryan | December 20th 14 | This is simply one of those albums where nostalgia just can't decide the outcome. From First to Last's debut album Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count provides good enough instrumentation and a teenaged Sonny Moore (before he was Skrillex) as the band's lead vocalist, though the sound lacked in strength and earnest passion, while the lyrics clearly left a lot to be desired; with the latter, it isn't surprising considering half the groups I've heard regarding the 2000s post-hardcore era kind of carry the same issue. But when they're blurted out by an on-and-off vocal performance, a few things aren't adding up like they should. Oh, well, I'll give FFTL this: hearing "Populace in Two" on Burnout 3: Takedown back when I was in elementary school was a rush.

4.5 superb | TheUsed09Bert | June 21st 06 | From First to Last works magic in "Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has A Bodycount". My friend had given me this cd as a gift and my jaws dropped when I heard it. The best song on this cd, in my opinion, is Ride The Wings Of Pestilence. This cd has a mix of differnet genres of music. It has a heavy side with "Kiss Me I'm Contagious", a post-harcore side with "Note To Self" and "Ride The Wings Of Pestilence", and a soft side with their acoustic song "Emily". Matt and Travis play the guitar amazingly well. Sonny has great vocals along with their back-up singers Matt, Travis, and Jon. And Derrick does a great job with the drums.

0.0 | rzrbicks | August 25th 22 | I fucking love this album because it's really interesting to compare the two available masters: the original and the remaster released the same year. These were done by two different producers, and the remaster quickly replaced the version sold in cds. This album is a landmark in the hardcore punk/emo/screamo genre or scene of music. Sounds alot like The Used too which is also dope. The One Armed Boxer vs. The Flying Guillotine is one of the most electric openers ive heard with the nice addition of its precursor track Soliloquoy. The remaster improves on this where they seamlessly lead into eachother which always sounds nice. 5, instant classic for me

2.0 poor | YAAAOOO | November 12th 17 | It sounds like The Used's self-titled debut but it lacks that album's sense of interesting songwriting and confident execution.

3.5 great | IAmKickass | July 15th 11 | From First to Last hasn't always been there as a mainstream listen too me, a few memorable songs here and there (mostly being the singles), but beyond that not too much attention was focused on them from me. As a debut, 'Dear Diary' is a great entrance to the bands overall sound, the heaviest point in their career, but the most inventive so far.

2.5 average | pauldrakedsd | February 9th 11 | There are a few good tunes on this album, this was kinda awesome when i came out and i remember finding these guys on purevolume and being like "omg like breakdowns' (freshman year). The overall thing you can say about this is it has nostalgia value, but the musicianship is horrible. The few good tunes does not save this album, its just average.

4.5 superb | Antti1 | April 22nd 08 | this is an awesome piece of art ... and no, they are not another Emo-cliche-band, they are more. no other band has as many great songs, that one could also pick out as a single too.
this album has really blown me away. the voice (Sonny Moore) is distinctive, one of a kind & the guittarist (Matt Good, as said) really steps up as backing vocalist & takes the leading part in "kiss me, i'm contagious'...
of course, the other members are really doing their job very very well. like i said.....one piece of art. great & unique, worth every dime.

i thought it could have been better though. there is one thing i really agree on and thats the drummer. he really is the strongest part of the band.
sonnys voice is/was ok. it just takes a while to get used to at first.
