| Sowing Already did! Love the opener and the slower songs, rest is still trying to resonate but it's quite good. Reminds me of 00s indie rock.
| Jots https://theexitbags.bandcamp.com/album/our-sun-will-clean-its-holy-wounds
| Jots i have a new tune btw, feel free to peep my last list for details I guess lol
| PitchforkArms Yo! Thank you a bunch (: I?m glad so many sput bros are digging it. Any highlight moments for you?
| Jots word, more or less loosely what I was going for. kinda hoped it?d get more steam but I guess I didn?t advertise it a ton
| Jots ayy, what?d you think of Tower of Quiet?
| Rowan5215 trying to understand what people are hearing in it but I'm absolutely baffled lol. it is so boring to me
| Rowan5215 glad to hear it my man! always nice when people love an album as much as you do
| Gameofmetal More cowboy black metal :) https://darkwatcher.bandcamp.com/album/hymns-of-a-godless-land
| bloc A Hat In Time slaps
| Gyromania Haha yeah wiped ages ago but there's still so much I forgot to rate again. Absence and abandoned language are two of my all time favourite albums. However I did just get into filthy tongue and **** me I'm late to the party on this one. Also still need to hear their last album
| Gameofmetal One of my bands just released a new album, kind of a wonky mishmash of extreme metal but it came out pretty cool imo https://soundcloud.com/adiabolimusic/sets/a-diaboli
| Flugmorph sounds good ima trust you on this one
| Flugmorph ye ive already watched the first episode when it started airing. wasnt that impressed and dropped it. if you really insist on it being great i might revisit it though.
| kevbogz hopefully that's the case, but Rhythm onward is so ****ing good that the first 3 songs bring the album down a lil imo
| CaptainDooRight hi bro how are you?? can i share my new trvth album with you? https://trvth.bandcamp.com/album/inordinate-and-surpassing
| clavier thanks for rec'ing elle, i very much enjoyed the new album
| clavier yeah man, it's been a good year for skramz
| Gameofmetal You should give the new Yellow Eyes a listen, it's super solid.
| Mongi123 Yea everything they did with atmosphere, guitar tones and song writing just blew me away. Really caught me off guard actually xD
| Gameofmetal It's just a placeholder until I listen more, not done with it for sure.
| Gameofmetal 4.3 avg huh? Damn, guess I better get on it
| Slex It?s their best album. T/T is just breathtaking
| Slex Thanks a bunch my friend!
| Slex You should check out Spotted Horse by Glassing, think you would dig. Incredible post-hardcore/screamo/post-rock combo
| MarsKid Yo, it's destiny my guy, jam it
| MarsKid Haha ya caught me. When I see an emo album gaining traction I gotta peek it. I highly recommend Shin Guard - 2020, also from this year, cuz it's got riffs--weird descriptor for skramz but trust me on this one.
| Flugmorph ima go watch it after my exams are done with
| Flugmorph ive been looking forward to watching it for a good while now, about to finish reading the manga, actually. do you have a mal account?
| Slex Dang sorry my dude I appreciate the thought tho lol
| Slex Unfortunately not, my phone is complete s*** and I don't have a computer lol, why what's up
| Slex Out of Sync, Four White Walls and Holding Patterns are all 10/10, can't wait for the review
| Slex AND Holding Patterns, which I've now listened to on repeat for like an hour. Good lord what a gut punch
| Slex Dude, holy s***. Four White Walls is so tremendously powerful and relatable. Glad I checked the Hodera album on the strength of yr score
| GreyShadow we should've met up man, my friends bailed on me the day of so I went alone :/god damn glad I went though
| GreyShadow I feel like I saw someone with a gray/blue Seton Hall sweatshirt that noticed someone else with a Seton Hall sweatshirt but I didn't see them, but that had to have been you !
| FearThyEvil That Ojne album was pretty good but I definitely need to give it more spins to come up with a rating and let it really sink in. So far sitting at a 3.5 but with more listens can see it being more
| FearThyEvil I just realized I still haven't jammed that rec you gave me. I'll have to fix that next week. I'll download it in preparation.
| NeurOHMancer hey there, cool prof pic! gonna get the box set of ergo proxy real soon!
| DoofDoof Debut is a top 20 album of all time - monumental it is :D
| DoofDoof hey man, sorry my other account is blocked - the new Low is real good, top 10 of the year, and something very different from them. It's one I'm waiting to pick up a physical copy of before playing to death but I have given it maybe ten goes and it keeps growing.
| Slex Much appreciated my friend!
| YakNips i listened to the first song on it once and never felt a strong pull to come back to it, i should give it a full listen tho
| Winesburgohio thank you, it's a twisted beaut eh! honestly so thrilled that they came out with *this* after an eight year hiatus, time well spent. i almost can't believe how good it actually is
| Slex Hell yeah, glad to hear it :')
| Slex If it's the bandcamp version, it's nowhere near as good as the version on Spotify. Version on bandcamp has 3 extra songs that are all v bad v generic bm songs. Skip Traveling Waters, Her Sight..., and Malae
| Slex Do me a favor and check out Demo Two by Life. Very autumnal and lofi emo/screamo/post-rock album. It's ****ing magnificent.
| Slex Album is overwhelming in the best way possible, will have to give more listens this weekend
| seinfeldreruns I wouldn?t say it?s a classic but it?s definitely one of the better albums to come out of this year. There?s a couple that top it imo (Alkaline Trio, Senses Fail, Tiny Moving Parts), but it?s far better than the majority of albums to come out this year (Trophy Eyes, State Champs, Real Friends) so it sort of falls in the middle for me.
| seinfeldreruns You: its a 5 no questions askedAlso you: *doesnt give it a 5*
| Slex Been so busy, will do tonight, promise
| FearThyEvil I don't mind some of the folk side of it and I particularly love BM bands that are more atmospheric.
| FearThyEvil I've had Hawks give me a bunch of recs for the genre and loving mostly everything I've heard so far outside of a few here and there I just simply can't do.
| FearThyEvil I'll check it out sometime this week. Been jamming so much black metal since the Deafheaven show lol
| Slex Great review bud, holy hell I'm excited to check it out
| Gameofmetal should have a review out for magus tomorrow or the next day but im finding it hard to figure this one out
| Gameofmetal goddamn u rly ran with that thou rec i gave u lol
| FearThyEvil We also showed up when Drab Majesty started playing so we didn't see the first act. Wasn't a huge fan of Drab Majesty because every song sounded the same as the last lol.
| FearThyEvil I was at the very top level floor overlooking the show from the balcony. Perfect view and that show was incredible. Shame we couldn't run into eachother.
| FearThyEvil I'll stick out like a sore thumb anyway because I'll probably wear a Slayer t-shirt and my San jose Sharks hat so if you see a dude wearing that it's most likely me. I'll be on the lookout for the jane doe shirt. I'll just ask if your names hogan just incase it's someone else lo.
| Observer You're welcome, man. Glad somebody checked it out. It's definitely one of my favorites from the current decade.
| FearThyEvil https://www.facebook.com/shane.beesel if you want, you can add me here so it makes it easier to know who we are.
| Gameofmetal The fatty austin lunn double album wtf where did my 2018 go too late it?s gone
| Gameofmetal bro jam the new Winterfylleth and Panopticon, they're wtf level amazing.
| BigHans I saw Gang of Youths in a venue that holds maybe 200 people on Saturday. It was incredible. I almost ****ing cried. Dave noticed how hard I was rocking out and pointed at me during THe Deepest Sighs, Frankest Sorrows lol.
| Gameofmetal Ye pretty sure it?s way better than a 4 but I need to spin it more before I bump it
| Flugmorph oh i actually wrote a bigger sign right there but sputniks retarded old code didnt pick up on it and disregarded everything after it aswell as usual lol. what i was trying to express was that the MiA OST is better than the devilman crybaby ost
| Mongi123 Well alright man I added them to the list
| Mongi123 Haha very astute point! Ahh man I literally just made a giant all things ?core? list like two hours ago I have too much to listen to.
| MarsKid Lemme know how it goes, if you're into Rolo you might connect with these dudes too
| Mongi123 Haha I've like...never even heard of them lol xD
| MarsKid You've been targeted by the "check Zapruder" hotline. You must now check Zapruder, probably for the best: https://zaprudertheband.bandcamp.com/album/fall-in-line
| Gameofmetal I figured it would since you haven't reviewed in a very long time, we needed to get rid of some of the people that weren't contributing. Nothing personal loser
| FrozenVain Haha, truly ;) I was actually quite intrigued by your soundoff since I agree that Zankyou no Terror had a great soundtrack and I also just noticed that Kensuke Ushio is the same person who made the soundtrack for Ping Pong, which I also thought was really good. It's one of my favorite animes in recent years as well.
| Mongi123 lol no kidding!! xD I just had my huge Jams playlist on shuffle and that came on haha damn
| Jots my gy!be comment was mostly snark towards zak tbh
| NordicMindset lol I did that a month ago because it made Brand New #1 on the year end charts
| Hawks Hell yeah buddy, both albums are easy 4.5's. Jammed them both at work last night.
| Hawks I already have bro haha. Heard it when it first came out, band rules. Too bad they broke up.
| Rowan5215 Yeah man Jac has a thread for it that gets bumped every now and then, just follow the latest link in there to join
| BigHans haha that's pretty much what happened. That song absolutely blew me away the first time I heard it. Almost like no other ever has.
| BigHans Dude did my TWBF review actually inspire you to jam it? That was probably the worst review I ever wrote, on purpose, lol. Its funny though, sometimes people take to those.
| Rowan5215 thanks man! shame the brand new hype will completely bury the album but ah well
| verdant thank you! dave sent me a message too, made my morning
| Gameofmetal if you want some weird death metal you should check pyrrhon's new record.
| Gameofmetal ah that's the one rowan got a bunch of people together to do a collab review for, will give it a listen
| Conmaniac 2nd person to tell me that damn...guess I must
| verdant maaaaaaan you have no idea what is about to hit you with Rowan's review oh boy
| Rowan5215 haha it is coming soon I promise, just pulling some elements together
| BigHans No problem at all man. I think this album is going to bring me out of reviewing retirement. Its ****ing amazing
| zaruyache it hits that symphonic Godspeed sweetspot :))))
| Atari also, don't sell yourself short either - love your reviews as well and hope you also stick around!
| Atari appreciate the kind words man, means a lot. and I was already feeling a bit sentimental about it smh ;] I might just shamelessly ask for the staff tag back I'm still on the site every damn day I can't help myself
| Conmaniac hell yeah dude i'll try my best! hope ur doing well
| Conmaniac woah I just listened to Pretend's newest album as well dude! it really is amazing...one of the best math rock albums I've heard since Dilute. im thinking of reviewing it but if u are going to then I'll def back out
| Rowan5215 A Bigger Meaning gets me feelin things. so many beautiful moments on that CD overall
| kascetcadettt here's a thread where you can discuss how fantastic it is to be a part of this moment: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=174557 \\\ don't be scared to share the news with other guys in case i missed someone out and keep shining in the light of this beautiful rock n roll fireplate, god bless, hasanmedia represent
| kascetcadettt sieg hi it's-a me smooth brotha from the umpteenth block taggin' em trainz comin' from your favorite station, word on the street is (artuma is gay) my new album came out recently and if that's the last thing i ever do let it be, leavin' the link in your hands my man: http://poleyounger.bandcamp.com/album/go-daylight \\\ feel FREE to 1 it if u didn't like my agressive self promotion campaign, feel FREE to thank me if this album saved your life
| Gameofmetal Shame im not gonna have the time to carry ur ass in league anymore
| DoofusWainwright If I had the time right now I'd think of reviewing it - pretty sure it'll get a review up some time soon. If it goes another fortnight without one I'll step up. Enjoying it, only spun it three times, but it's floating somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4
| YakNips cause it's not very good bb :[ melodies are lazy and lyrics have always been a weak spot for TA
| Gameofmetal i miss when she was op too. when im not jungling gangplank is one of my best top laners and i like tf quite a bit too
| Gameofmetal this is really the only season i seriously played ranked, mostly just moped around playing norms in silver last season. got gold a few months back and im getting pretty close to plat now
| Gameofmetal ah you're plat huh? im hoping to get plat by the end of the season, waffling around gold 2 rn
| Gameofmetal the "on Davout" part threw me, i thought it was something else lol ok
| Mongi123 I know man this has been an overwhelming year so far!
| Mongi123 Oh Damn sorry I saw it but forgot to respond haha I'll give it a shot when I'm in the mood for that stuff next time. Got my hands full with new releases and my newfound love for punk/post punk stuff.
| Mongi123 That's why idk if Id like a lot of punk
| Mongi123 I'm weird with this stuff. Musically I favor more atmosphere and emotion with my music than technical stuff but with my voices prefer the cleaner sounding voices.
| Mongi123 I've never been one to love the kind of you know "not a technically great singer, but their raw emotion makes them great" singers, if that makes sense. Same thing with Neutral Milk Hotel. Pleasant music and fantastic lyrics isn't enough to save it if the singer just hits so like a ton of bricks in a bad way lol
| Mongi123 Oh hell yea it's streaming?? And sorry dude, it's pleasant musically but he has one of the worst voices I've heard.
| Sowing Glad you enjoyed. That record is legendary for modern folk.
| Atari I know you do, that's why I was letting u know :) it definitely has its differences from peripheral vision, but i can't shake the feeling it has some similar vibes
| Sowing which tigers on trains?
| Atari hey, you might dig this new somos. getting some similar vibes as turnover - peripheral vision.
| Pon Thank you, and pls do. Though anything less than a 5 for either will merit swift assassination.
| Atari Thanks man! I'm definitely planning on increasing the frequency of my reviews, but it will be hard to keep up with Johnny and Jac, they review a ton lol
| Xenophanes Meandering blob to me. It's growing on me but it's just a weird part of the record and I don't know what they were trying to do.At the end of the day EEB is a favorite of mine and I absolutely love Under Summer. I predict many not falling for it like I have but I haven't listened to anything else sinxce I got it last week. I love it.
| Xenophanes It's a lot like their debut...I guess. Not quite as overtly dramatic. The last song is straight up yndi halda by way of The World Is...Which is kind of neat. More vocals but they only make up 15-20% of the record.Maybe not as instantly jaw dropping as their first record but it's definitely more reserved and straight forward. There are some really infectious passages that are stuck in my head which is something I couldn't say of EEB.The only downside is "Helena" which is an 18 minute
| demigod! yeah absolutely heart wrenching. the ending of chapter one destroyed me. was not expecting things to go so far south so quickly...
| Jots I think someone else got to it, but pop into the google doc (on the contribs FB page)
| Jots hey man, would you be down to cover Titus for the user list?
| Pon Cheers dude, makes it all worthwhile
| ComeToDaddy Actually haven't spun, but cheers for the heads up. Will report back in a couple of days!
| ComeToDaddy Just got a copy of the Pneuma reissue, not quite as special as the press you've got but damn it's nice
| Jots yep good ol texas is the reason
| Jots lemme know what u think
| Jots check Black Wing :] (HANL side project(!))
| Atari that senses fail soundoff couldn't be more spot on
| Jots Ghosts is def the best thing he's done under the moniker
| Jots I really haven't enjoyed a sun kil moon album since... idk when. but yea didn't like his new one at all I'm afraid
| PotsyTater its not your fault i just saw ur soundoff after i was just freshly finished being pisst at cyg for making that same comparison so i HAD to say something just HAD TO
| PotsyTater they dont even play the same style of jazz at all doe. and i mean my nit-pickyness with all due respect but it seems cyg saw that and now he's saying its too coltrany which just seems so preposterous to me. The Epic is more relatable to pretty much anything afro or ethio than coltrane, a guy who mostly bop'd and free jazz'd and sometimes got a little avant-garde... but The Epic is pretty much 100% fusion.
| PotsyTater "Mr. Coltrane would be proud." so what you are saying is that you know nothing about jazz whatsoever and coltrane is the only quintessential jazz musician you've heard?
| ComeToDaddy Colour me green. It's high time for a reissue, 1000 prints isn't nearly enough for an album like that, I'll be the first to pounce when/if it happens. Glad to see you're digging Envy lately too, they're an absolutely killer band that I got into way later than I should have.
| ComeToDaddy Oh wow, that's something I'd love to get a hold of. Where'd you pick it up? That album got me into a whole spectrum of music I hadn't explored before so it'll always have a special place for me.
| YakNips oh no i've listened but only just once, i need to listen more i mean. but yea i'm also rlly looking forward to their new LP, i think it's out in may
| YakNips hell yea man. havent jammed insomniac doze enough but all the footprints and a dead sinking story are incredible
| Gyromania yeah the last song was a great surprise, but the rest? what a slog. i just don't get why bands like godspeed and thrice are so well received here. i mean, i love godspeed as well, ofc, but their new stuff is seriously lackluster
| Mongi123 Hahahaha yea it was boring. And ok dude I'll add it to the long list xD
| Mongi123 That average will go down dude. They really brought nothing new to the table. No subtext to it or any complexity with the exception of the last song.
| YakNips yea i gotta say i think avalyn might be my fave slowdive song now?? either that or sing or blue skied an' clear
| YakNips nah i've only checked souvlaki and pygmalion but i love them both and i know their EP is supposed to rule so i definitely am going to check it
| Guzzo10 I was going to post in the comment section like you but I wasn't quick enough haha. Yeah, I'm really digging it, and I honestly think as time goes by I'll enjoy it more than GKMC. Its just there is so much depth on this album. I've listened to it at least 6-7 times all the way through and even wrote the review, but I still feel like I haven't even began to crack open the shell on this thing
| Guzzo10 You took the easy way out and gave both GKMC and To Pimp a Butterfly a 4, you sly dog, you.
| Jots thx for the support man
| Mongi123 Haha I've only tried The Seer. I like it and respect what they were setting out to do with it, but it's nothing Id ever use as listening music.
| Mongi123 Well there's not many 30 minute tracks haha
| Mongi123 Haha don't know when the last time I jammed it last but I honestly found it pretty boring.
| Mongi123 Lol, meh sorry bro can't forced something down like that. I'd choke to death!
| ExplosiveOranges No prob. Also, I just realized what your profile picture is, haha.
| ExplosiveOranges This is coming kinda late, but congrats on hitting 40 reviews, man!
| Jots yo man. could you peep my latest review and lemme know your thoughts if you have a chance?
| Mongi123 I'm gonna be honest with you: i HATE edm lol. But I'll give the song a try when I get home.
| Sowing That song was amazing...the guy's voice seems like it could become a detriment over the course of an entire album, but I'll have to find out.
| CrimsonFloyd Yo man check my EP from last year. Trying to make new stuff, but I never really got feedback from my last project so perhaps a dandy review would settle that. univers-cicatrice.bandcamp.com
| Jots sweet, finally a solid rev for the new pbtt. I disagree with the rating, but the review is tight. I requested a feature so hopefully it goes through
| Jots yeah man, I'm hoping to be a good influence. probably gonna teach high school
| Jots Physics/Education :] the job market for teachers is better here than most places
| Jots Hopefully this is my last course :[ what are you doing for school?
| Jots yeah my calc midterm is coming up, ugh
| Jots S'all good. It's exam season here so my mind is all over the place too
| Jots I was talking about Omaha, not scottpilgrim
| Jots yeah make it so good that he gives up, and questions his station
| Jots Ah, gotcha. I think Omaha might be doing that PBTT as well
| Jots "More than my tag does" huh? Not quite sure what you mean, but I'm glad you liked the review man, not my best work but w/e I'm happy with it. And yeah that PBTT album needs a good review lol
