 | Mort. oooh i feel like board games have become really popular these days, literally had a mate ask if i wanted to play some board games in late october just today! and theres a board game cafe opened up near me. weird music wise i was wondering whether youve listened to Mamaleek at all? pretty interesting metal band, got some blues, jazz, black metal, ambient. really strange mix
 | Mort. yeah im good thanks man, hows it going on your end? and yeah i thought i didnt see you too often anymore (especially considering how much ive surpassed your comment count). and oh my god im jealous of you seeing Ken mode and imperial triumphant. IT were playing with couch slut and pyrrhon at one point and i wish i could have traveled to see that show but it wouldnt have been justifiable
 | trilo all that said, i would recommend checking out the headphone advice subreddit and doing a lil research. i've only tested so many and tbh it has been many many years since i was buying in the price range (i got sucked down the audiophile rabbit hole) so there may be new cans i haven't checked out. no matter what you buy tho always try them out first or buy from a shop with free returns. there's so much subjectivity with headphones you never wanna get stuck with your purchase!
 | trilo hey! in that price range my favorite would be the Sennheiser HD 599s. super light all-day comfort with a really crisp sound and excellent soundstage. the knock on them is that they're a bit light on bass, though you are making trade-offs at that price range regardless. they are also open-back which means you get a more "open" sound at the expense of it leaking out, potentially bugging people around you.
 | BigPleb Im good man, hows things with you?

 | DePlazz https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/85336/Soreption-Jord/
 | GhandhiLion hmm I'll think of a few things to send your later. It's quite a unique album.
 | LeddSledd Im not the best to ask haha, Id ask GhandiLion cuz he's really knowledgeable on that type of experimental music. however, check Half-Mute by Tuxedomoon for a very similar airy and bleak experimental post punk project
 | DePlazz https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/85181/Exocosm-Spiral-of-Decay/
 | FR33L0RD Hi, i was really happy to see you dig "Nile" discog, and liking it. I like these push by knowledgeable in metal and the genre. This kind of sharing dynamics are really interesting. Cheers!
 | Casavir Thalidomide would be a good band to check out too, now that I think about it.
 | Casavir End Zone is another Russian band that's vaguely similar.
 | TheNotrap Awesome ;) that bass is a killer, isn't it?
 | DDDeftoneDDD damn bro! you still jamming Moral Collapse? Came back just now, so damn cool lol
 | DavidYowi Forum open for new Logistic Slaughter https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/83570/Logistic-Slaughter-Lower-Forms-of-Life/
 | Collis I love Green Wing! Alan Statham could be my favourite character of any sitcom...
 | Storm In A Teacup but i also always decide what chord im going to start in before anything, usually F, B, or Ca
 | Storm In A Teacup i use ipad, garageband, iRig, and Fender mustang 1 amp with digital hookup
 | Storm In A Teacup I record some guitar stuff to start out and then use about 20% of what i record to shape a new song, then i see if keyboards or bass or strings go well with it and play record random stuff until it feels like it is shaping a song, then i do drums, then vocals, all the time im producing each track of the song before the next part is done then i produce the whole thing again
 | DePlazz Hey, if you're in a power thrash mood, check this out: https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/82999/Forte-Stranger-Than-Fiction/
 | cordwainerbird oh wait those two came out at the same time actually. weird
 | cordwainerbird He's my favorite director so I'm inclined to find a lot to love in even his more banal films, but besides the three you mentioned in thread (which are his best) Scanners, The Fly, and The Brood are also worth checking out. Some ppl like Existenz a lot - it conceptually pre-dates the Matrix and has similar ideas but it's v much a love or hate kinda deal.
 | Veldin Quite enjoyed the Growth LP. I've listened to it twice, but I'm gonna have to give it a few more spins, because it's dense. The guitar work is absolutely stunning. A really promising debut and I'll definitely keep my eye on future releases from the band. Thanks for the rec!
 | DominionMM1 i was pissed but not surprised that the nhl bungled it. the game itself was basically what i expected and i was happy with the result. the powerplay looked good at times even though we didnt score and the pk was excellent yet again.
 | DePlazz Hey man, saw your rec on Growth's debut somewhere in an Ad Nauseam thread and checking it now. It's thoroughly enjoyable, might even like it more than the pervasive disso focus of Ad Nauseam (and Ulcerate) tbh, because it's just more varied. Will listen again, haven't focused on the sound quality yet, that was a big plus with Ad Nauseam.
 | DominionMM1 vegas looks legit so we?ll see. i?m really liking how the 2nd line is starting to gel.
 | DominionMM1 yeah but no makar, landeskog, or girard. great to have mackinnon back though.
 | DominionMM1 Well at least we can see what we have in him.
 | DominionMM1 as long as we?re healthy come playoff time we?ll be ok. plus i dont think mackinnon is gonna miss much time.
 | BigPleb Sure thing man, what games do you play?
 | combustion07 Yes indeed. I'm an ancient sputter lol. I also had a few accounts before this one but they got the permanent ban. Think I made my first one in 06.
 | evilford Yeah haha, hopefully it winds down soon. It's all good, I'm fine i just haven't been able to retain much new stuff recently. I was goin real hard on new stuff last year. Slowed down a lot recently
 | evilford Edenic past was good, i just didnt love it as much as some other stuff I've heard recently. Same with thaetas. And honestly if you asked me to recount details of either one idk that I could lol, last couple months have been kind of a s***storm personally. Been sticking with stuff i know mostly
 | anarchistfish Honestly as far as cinematographic sci fi goes I think it's unprecedented and unmatched in
 | anarchistfish Like why is eve? I get there's the paradox from when Martha first takes Jonas to the parallel world and kick-starts Eve but is that really just it? Did Adam create her?
 | anarchistfish I took Aleksander as a red herring by the end. Was satisfied with the moment they gave him. My one complaint was how it explained the leap to multi dimensional travel just because, I don't get how the cause and effect worked. But whatever. Thrilling show, makes westworld and stranger things look like pieces of s***
 | parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81595/Prong-Primitive-Origins/
 | evilford Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry you're dealing with all that, it's tough to function with depression sometimes. Hopefully they find the help they need...best of luck to you and your family man
 | wacknizzle We?ve pretty much only played local thus far, we were gonna do a short east coast run to get our touring feet wet. Being in a band is difficult, we all have similar taste but I?ve done almost all the writing so far.
 | wacknizzle It would be super cool. We were planning a tour then covid happened unfortunately
 | wacknizzle Yeah dude, I?m doing alright. How bout yourself? My band put out an album last fall if you want to check it out. https://vnfvrl.bandcamp.com/album/the-waking-void
 | Source hope everything works out for you and your family dude. i work for a company that makes composite containers
 | Source great, first week going back into work after working from home for 2 months ugh. how about you bro
 | parksungjoon yee its on the list. if u want recs i left some here for madbutcher https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/81494/Morbid-Angel-Illud-Divinum-Insanus/
 | dedex Agreed, didn't even bother with the Spielberg movie. If you wanna watch a recent Asterix movie, go for Asterix: The Secret of the Magic Potion. idk how it is in other languages but in French it's hilarious
 | dedex hell yeah man, glad to see other Tintin connoisseurs
 | Morningrise767 yeah bro, that Black Curse album is pretty nasty, definitely worth checking out : )
 | evilford Just started ace combat 7, seems p sweet. Gta v was great, wasnt gaming when it came out so I had to catch up. Star wars battlefront was extremely disappointing as a single-player game fan. Other than that, I've just been jamming mgsv super hard
 | MiguelAngel Hahaha so, you started with satanic howls and ended up with Bethoveen?? wow
 | sonictheplumber yeah i was plannin on seeing them this month but covid came along
 | DePlazz Nothing wrong with thrash and death of course. New Azusa is definitely thrashy and leaning towards Extol's Synergy imo so there's a chance you will appreciate it!
 | GhandhiLion Of cause not, in that sense it is overblown then. The black death was also overblown because people thought it was a punishment from god. Haha. Just don't listen to people without scientific credentials.
 | GhandhiLion Mostly, elderly yes. If you think the quarantine policies are appropriate, what exactly do you think is overblown about the pandemic?
 | GhandhiLion It's not low because that is a low-end estimate and it's not possible to get a more accurate stat on the death rate yet.
 | GhandhiLion The media may be instilling fear, but it's also one of the main ways people get informed.
 | GhandhiLion Is being in quarantine not sensible ? The mortality rate is not very low. The low-end estimate is 1/100
 | parksungjoon some death metal on here if you're still looking for that https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=190959
 | RogueNine Haha no it's actually Star Wars related.
 | parksungjoon its actually swee i promise give it a look https://www.sputnikmusic.com/soundoff.php?albumid=94266
 | DePlazz I'm a slow user dude, no need to hurry haha. Plus I haven't rated half the stuff I don't like
 | Sinternet there is an art to troll 1ing albums that is unfortunately dying. thanks for your recognition
 | MarsKid All of their releases are on their bandcamp: https://harlots.bandcamp.com/ (and they are all free/NYP, partially because they have unfortunately been disbanded for some time)
 | parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1034220
 | parksungjoon and uhhh yeah let me know when you need more. new list will most likely drop by the end of this week. it contains a modest amount of dm, less than the previous one. dont want to spoil any but i trust there will be at least one dm album there thats up your alley considering. :]
 | parksungjoon not really related to old tech as such but have you listened to morbus chron? sweven was my 2014 aoty fwiw
 | parksungjoon uhhh have yuo heard thormenthor and carbonized that were on my 2016 list?
 | parksungjoon uhhhh perhaps hang on. give me a few minutes im reading a review and then ill try to think. actually tell me whta kind of tech death. im not much for the modern plasticy wank stuff so i might not be able to help with that
 | parksungjoon ive heard of em but dont remember if ive ever listened. thanks for the rec m/
 | parksungjoon check out the 2nd or 3rd track to get a feel for it, honestly it feels like a big mish mash of thrash death and a little black to me
 | parksungjoon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/review/80856/Sadistik-Exekution-The-Magus/
 | Artuma nah, scifi's not really my thing
 | Rowan5215 I'm with you on watching more shows than movies for sure, shows are just such a better format and so much more rewarding to get invested in. once in a while a movie comes around that blows my mind tho... you might really like Coherence from the list I posted, no-budget sci-fi horror that's absolutely intense and brilliant. I also thought Blade Runner 2049 was an absolute masterpiece, maybe one of the best of the decade
 | Larkinhill Word brother, Dillinger is def near the top of the list. Love what I?ve heard. Saw them when they opened for Deftones a few years ago. Intense, energetic as **** show
 | Rowan5215 there's a bunch I would recommend, albeit without knowing your taste that well, that absolutely blow Joker away imo. Coherence, The Vvitch, Suspiria remake, The Blackcoat's Daughter, Into the Spider-verse, Good Time, Hereditary, Green Room, Swiss Army Man... off the top of my head lol I'm sure there's more
 | Nomos2 Tried 6 times now to post, Sput is broken lol, keeps deleting random words
 | Nomos2 OK Try 4, Sput keeps cutting off my posts. Bath
 | Nomos2 Ohhh damn, RIP, F, Winnipeg. Been there once for allergy testing when I was 7. I'm in Edmonton, so we get screwed for shows a lot collectively, but Edmonton def gets more shows than Winnipeg. That sucks man.
 | Nomos2 Oh dang that sucks! Which city? Prob nothing close worth driving to too? This October we have: At The Gates, Amon Amarth, Monuments, Skyharbor, All That Remains, Com Truise, a couple local bands, then Jinjer. And Cannibal Corpse Nov 1st. Hahah. I'm spoiled.
 | Nomos2 I ended up missing them, but this fall is stacked so it wasn't an issue LOL, ended up seeing Despised Icon/AngelMaker/Ingested/Shadow of Intent on Saturday, then Monday was Covet/Veil of Maya/Periphery, and tonight is Fallujah/Beyond Creation. All my money's gone to tix LOL, who are you seeing?
 | Nomos2 Sweet. On the fence, not sure weather I should stay home or go out by myself and check them out. Maybe I will.
 | Nomos2 TY dude! That's my carefully curated lists of fav bands from only ~15 years of getting seriously into music. I see you just rated Revocation
 | FukkenKrist What section? I've set an avatar but it wont show up on review site
 | FukkenKrist Brother, how do I set my avatar to appear o the review site
 | dbizzles Ayyyy, haven't heard that. I'll put it on the list. Thanks.
 | kalkwiese Thanks man! I really liked it, even though I hoped to like it a little more. I will check more of their music for sure
 | hexfix93 I think you'll dig Iniquity for sure. As for the other bands I rec'd, was mostly because of their similarity to Suffocation. They're all great, but from what you've told me, I would prioritize Theory in Practice - The Armageddon Theories (all their albums are great). Prog/tech that should be right up your alley. Go for the others if/when you're in the mood for some Suffo-influenced NYDM.
 | hexfix93 Nice. Phlebotomized is downloading as we speak. I'm stoked about Pan.Thy.Monium's last album now, think I'll jam that one first before I re-listen to the first two.
 | hexfix93 Always looking for recs! Lol. Pan.Thy.Monium is sweet, kinda forgot they existed lol so thanks for reminding me. I've only heard their first two though, pretty sure there's another. Gonna have to listen to them again cuz yeah I haven't even thought about them in ages. Don't think I've ever listened to Phlebotimized though, gonna grab their stuff so I remember to jam.
 | BigPleb Thanks man! Couple I?ve not jammed there. Erm, here?s a few: Swallowed, Artificial Brain, Howls of Ebb, Baring Teeth, Portal, Sunless.
 | hexfix93 For sure. What kind of stuff though? Like tech/progressive stuff? Iniquity should be right up your alley if so, I mean I wouldn't go so far as to call it experimental, but it's Suffocation-ish tech death with nice amounts of doom metal, good bits of melody -- idk, it's a cool sound. The others are a bit more straightforward.
 | BigPleb Dat Negativa rating m/. Not really man, got any recs?
 | BigPleb Sup man! I don?t have a mic on Xbox that?s why. How?s things?
 | suddykilljaywalkers havnt said hi in a while but saw you were active. You still have one of the best sputniks on here 8)
 | BigPleb Joking my man! How's things? I will man thanks.
 | Mort. i did gorguts but not cryptopsy at all, ill give em a check anyway
 | bloc Yep, agreed all around. You ever watch the cartoon series? It ain't bad.
 | bloc Right? There wasn't a bad character in that series. Everyone was just so unique and likable, even the villains.
 | Mort. sup man, ive been branching out into other s*** seeming as the year so far has been utter s*** for metalcore which sucks
 | Mort. cheers man, yeah i noticed you hadnt been about much. Im good, getting sick of sputnik at the moment, currently on summer holidays from uni for the next few months so have **** all to do except smoke weed and listen to core hahaha what about you?
 | Mort. man do you have any links to that barrit album?
 | Pon Nah, pretty much the only games I play now are PS1 games on an emulator because I never really grew up heh
 | Pon Not a whole lot. Just been working heaps and saving money to go to uni one day. What about you?
 | demigod! moved to Ottawa, got a job, got fired after about a month. lol I've just been jamming while trying to find a new one since... what you been up to?
 | CK Kaylee is a babe
 | Mort. i got facebook like a week or 2 ago (did it have it before but i got rid of it). Dean Rutherford, pic is of me looking blankly at the screen haha. only other sputter i have added is matt td so far
 | Snake. yeah i tried not to rip off shadow word-by-word but i still think it came out well
 | Mort. you seen the zao news? new song 2nd july!
 | Snake. just how the **** can you make an album so heavy and mathy is beyond me
 | Mort. Na man i looked but couldnt find one either. I listened through spotify (which you cant get where you are right?)
 | Mort. Dude check Eden Maine's Lp, theyre a little known uk metalcore act from the mid 2000s, i think youd like them
 | Mort. Out of all of them i only know Idylls, will check all the rest thanks!
 | Mort. Rec away!! I have a fair few albums saved up to eventually check out but nothing is grabbing my immediate attention atm
 | Mort. Hell yeah man they rule. Enjoying cryptopsy at the moment aswell. Vocals are taking some getting used to
 | Funeralopolis I'm pretty bad at editing too, it just takes some tinkering around. In audacity you simply just highlight the area you want and hit ctrl c then you go to tracks -
 | Funeralopolis Do it up! Death Grips goes surprisingly with everything.
 | Funeralopolis https://soundcloud.com/brandon-schauer-1/kanye-youre-not-a-father-immolation-kanye-west-mash-up
 | Mort. he is hes just using mordvynn. and yeah i plan on branching out into death and black metal (both of which i know next to nothing) but for now im just checking every core band i can get my hands on haha
 | Mort. theyre are so many metalcore/hardcore bands that fall through the cracks on sput. Like how does Deadguy's and Kiss It Goodbye's LPs have less than 200 combined votes? weird. its like everyone thinks theres nothing more to check out after Botch and Converge
 | Mort. already feeling a 4 or 4.5 for it tbh. riffs hard
 | Mort. im jamming the funeral of god, really cool stuff
 | Pon He's been especially ****y recently, and then always tries to save face by saying he's joking it's like mate even if you were it's not funny
 | Pon Yeah he does but I'm just happy to beat potsy and watch the sparks fly lol
 | Jots cheers, lemme know what you think
 | Jots a 3/5 is good in my books, it's got its share of flaws but still worth trying
 | Jots if you dig nick cave you might enjoy this Marching Church album a bit
 | Mort. finally checking Keelhaul, really good stuff thanks for the rec (im sure it was you who recced me them at some point haha)
 | Insurrection hello mr. gold http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=156958
 | Lethean barrit's tight. check out they and the children dude
 | oltnabrick https://goropsy6.bandcamp.com/album/v-mac-and-cheese give my music a go, let me know what you think!
 | adr dude check Union Of Uranus you will love it
 | Stoutness762 You got me there man I'll have to remember them in the future
 | tempest-- sure, but I probably couldn't tell you any bands you don't already know... Agnostic Front?
 | BigPleb Never really checked man, she rule?
 | Shuyin we're too kvlt for that
 | Flugmorph Lets wear our christmas hats till the next holidays ;)
 | sixdegrees My valentine isn't the only thing that's bleeding

 | wacknizzle probably, if im not banned now I should be
 | spookynewghostfriend and so thats i ended up talking to two dicks. Anyways, i gotta catch some shut-eye see u on the flip[side
 | DoctorDoom Patiently waiting for you to review As Everything Is a Tragedy.....
 | Mort. sweet man will check. im still going through metalcore aswell hahahaha. but yeah tfu 2nd is a weird bit of metalcore. has a lot of industrial/electronic influences in it, very unique album.
 | DoctorDoom Yeah, sometimes people get so tied up in the style of a bands older records, that their newer material doesn't get a fair shot. I feel like that was the case with that record,
 | DoctorDoom Yeah, dude. I remember when The Funeral of God came out, that record blew my mind. Only thing I listened to for weeks.
 | DoctorDoom Always good to see someone appreciate Zao. They were one of my favorites during my high school years 03-07.
 | Mort. dude have you ever checked out TFU 2nd album?
 | DoctorDoom Nope, first time around. Been browsing for years but never signed up until now. Also, just to add to the conversation below, Tom Waits rules.
 | Artuma tom waits is gr8. and yeah i have facebook
 | Artuma oh ok i see. so you're looking for some more upbeat stuff? cuz then i'm probably not the right person to help haha. i tend to jam something that matches my feelings when i'm not feeling so good
 | Artuma oh crap dude :/ idk i've been feeling down for quite a while and i'm jamming some carissa's wierd atm so maybe you should do the same. songs about leaving is beaut
 | apert i'm still around i just comment less these days, don't have the time to sit on sputnik for hours anymore
 | JustinKing Yeah, man, Comity needs some more love on this site. I just started listening to their stuff again and realized it was even better than I'd thought. Definitely a band warranting many repeat listens.
 | Artuma ok thx i'll try to find them
 | Artuma might have to taste one
