 | DungeonBoy Thank you for the kind words, and for always supporting my projects! It really means a lot to me and I always look forward to hearing from you. Graveward is one of my favorites as well, it was really fun to write and play all of the riffs on that one. I'm hoping to record some new Rota Fortunae soon, but the biggest issue I have is we moved to NC and my current room is not great for recording. I have one last thing to finish with TOA, but I'm hoping to focus on some new RF. I have a lot of ideas
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, hope you're doing well! Just released the Tomb of Annihilation debut full-length, Execration Rites, if you want to check it out!https://tombofannihilation.bandcamp.com/album/execration-rites
 | DungeonBoy The ending part where it goes "the one I see on sunlight and hear in the rain" gives me goosebumps every time. There something about the vocal Melody and delivery that is so perfect. Anyways...lol. I'm gonna release an 8 song TOA album this year. It's all pretty much recorded and done and all of the "singles" are going to end up on it. I released them as singles because allegedly according to the internet that's how you gain interest in a project but who knows haha.
 | DungeonBoy I like the direction of your new stuff, I think the percussion and song structures add more of a straightforward songwriting vibe if that makes sense but it works because the music still has that exploratory feel to it. It's not just verse chorus verse etc. You really have a knack for transporting me into the world of your songs and I love that about them. I also relistened to Here Stones Arise on a walk yesterday and I love that song so much. It might be my favorite one you've ever written.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man! Just dropping by to say hey. I was on a long drive yesterday and wanted to relisten to your old Eloign EPs and saw there was a new one! I really enjoyed it, I like the increased percussion throughout while still retaining that Eloign charm. I ended up listening to all 3 EPs start to finish :) Let me know next time you put something out, I would hate to miss it
 | DungeonBoy Dude, Brandon, thank you so much! Always appreciate the support and it's always good to hear from you.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man! Long time no see, hope you are doing well. I've missed you around these parts! I've actually been releasing some death metal tunes over the past year under the project Tomb of Annihilation. Mostly as an outlet to have some fun writing some heavy music and I needed a palate cleanse before working on more acoustic stuff, which is still in the works. I'm wrapping up a full length for TOA but if you want to check it out everything is up on Spotify/Bandcamp. Good to hear from you!

 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, hope you are doing well. I wanted to thank you for pre-ordering the album way back when I released the Wayfarer single. At the time it gave me more inspiration to make the final product the best I could, and as always I've appreciated your support throughout the years. It's one of those things that have kept me going, and will continue to push me to make better music. I really hope you enjoyed Hinterland, you had a big part in me releasing it
 | Friday13th Cool, sorry you couldn't join in this time. Maybe it's best you give the rest of us a chance to win ;)
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, hope all is well man, you might see it on other social media but I just wanted to let you know we just released a new folk/black metal debut EP for a one man project called Allelic - Reverberations. It's pretty eccentric stuff with a lot of interesting variety throughout, and i thought it might be something you'd enjoy. Check it out if you have a chance and let me know what you think! https://allelic.bandcamp.com/releases

 | Friday13th Prog tourney this Monday, Memorial day!
 | DungeonBoy ..and hopefully good! Those are all really good questions haha, I need to follow up with him and see how things are going. I?m aiming for some time in February to release this, so hopefully his timing lines up. He?s working with a friend to get it started, and hopefully there are other Sputnikers that could be a part of it. His plan is to focus on woodsy/acoustic/folky type stuff mainly. Thanks for checking out the new tunes and I'm very excited to hear what you're working on.
 | DungeonBoy Thanks, man! I always appreciate you taking the time to listen to my stuff, cause I don't really plan to share it with many people before releasing it. I?ve been really focusing on this one trying to come up with some more dynamically interesting stuff and also going for a cold/blue/winter atmosphere on this one. They are actually pretty close to being ready but the cello is sampled and a good friend of mine is going to record actual cello on it, which should make it sound more natural..
 | DungeonBoy .. but will give you an idea of what I'm going for.https://soundcloud.com/rotafortunae/1-demo13dechttps://soundcloud.com/rotafortunae/2-demo13dec
 | DungeonBoy Congrats man! that's really exciting news! I can't wait to hear some new music from you. So funny story, Tom (Meus) is trying to start a woodsy/acoustic/folk label and we talked about me releasing a small 3-4 song EP on it soon so they can get some artists on it when it launches. So I've been writing and recording with most of my free time which unfortunately hasn't been a whole lot lately, but I'm plugging away when I can. I have 2 tracks that are a little rough at the moment...
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, how's it going man? Haven't heard from you in a while, just curious if you have some new music coming along. I'm listening to Old Yarns today, and thought I'd see how things are going.
 | GhandhiLion I watched it on yt, not the best quality though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ass11dxuyzU
 | GhandhiLion I adore Werckmeister Harmonies and Satantango. I plan on watching The Turin Horse. Last night I watched a Malaysian film called "What Time Is It There?". That was quite similar in style. I would highly recommend .
 | GhandhiLion I am on a Bela Tarr binge right now. He is such a genius.
 | Atari yeah lorn is just incredible. pretty great album to hold us over while we wait for the new tenhi :]
 | Atari the dying swan and lorn are two of my favorite tracks off it, but yeah definitely a bit of a new direction. I like how it's recorded by a film composer sounds like something ulver would do haha, I'm actually trying to review it atm
 | Atari new neun welten is out! I might have to bump my score up idk seems like a grower. some parts were a little boring but definitely some really beautiful stuff overall
 | AnimalsAsSummit new EP out! kinggreenied.bandcamp.com/album/hydraknis-digestum-ostium
 | Sevengill Thanks man! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah it's really gaining some traction since ABMA posted it.
 | DungeonBoy Thanks man! I have about 5 new songs done at the moment at varying stages of completion that I'm really excited about, but as always I'm going to put a lot more time into making sure I'm happy with the result. I got a new condenser mic that should hopefully bring the next one to life a lot more. Time will tell but I might try to go for an LP on this next one if I can put together 30 minutes of music, we'll see though. You been working on some new tunes?
 | ScuroFantasma Thanks a lot man (: Really glad you enjoyed them, even more so that you're interested in future stuff. I'm hoping to finish up the dungeon synth EP in the next few weeks. The BM stuff is on a much more unstable schedule, no idea when I might resume that, but it will be some time after the DS one in any case.
 | ScuroFantasma A little bit, haven't made much progress on either but I've got a little atmospheric black metal EP in the works (1 demo done) and a dungeon synth EP (lots of demos in various stages) but sure, if you're interested I've got a few here: https://soundcloud.com/corekasian/rain-in-the-night-forest-1That's the BM track, and here's one of the DS tracks: https://soundcloud.com/corekasian/ds-march-to-the-old-castle
 | ScuroFantasma Hey dude, jammed your EP, just wanted to say it was great and I enjoyed it a lot!
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, this morning I was revisiting that Fabrizio Paterlini album "Autumn Stories" that you rec'd me way back when, and forgot how much I enjoyed it. Such simple melodies that work so well, it's amazing what he can do with so little. If I go a month or two without listening to it, it still blows me away with how good it is! If you ever discover anything new like this or N

 | AnimalsAsSummit oh cool! yeah give it time, lots of content i tried to fit into each of those songs lol
 | AnimalsAsSummit new full.length out! kinggreenied.bandcamp.com/album/hesiod-maintaining-sentinel-evolution
 | DungeonBoy Dang I just realized half of what I wrote to you was cut off. These shoutbox limitations could use some work. The new Pillorian has its moments, but it's nowhere near as enjoyable as The Mantle/Ashes for me. There are a couple of Agallochish moments but they are few and far between, and really the album is mostly dark discordant black metal, with subtle melodies and John's signature voice. Nothing too exciting.
 | DungeonBoy ?are the best parts, but they are surrounded by more straightforward black metal, that kinda just leaves you feeling meh. When it comes to black metal, I always prefer the more ?romantic? nature sounding bands, not so much the pissed off aggressive sound, which this album leans toward. To be honest it?s skippable, and the biggest attraction for me was the superficial idea that John Haughm had his hands in the pot.
 | DungeonBoy Glad you dug it! The arrangements really are varied enough to make it interesting throughout and I love the layered-ness of it all. There's a lot going on but it's all so cohesive, and his vocals really blend well with the folk atmosphere. They sound a bit auto-tuned, but it works. It has a really magical ?old? feeling to it, it's hard to describe but yeah it's definitely gonna spend some time in my rotation as well.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man, did you happen to check out this Wolcensmen album from 2016 called Songs from the Fyrgen? It's really great! I can't stop listening to it. It's a one man folk/neo-folk project that uses a lot of different instruments. I think you might enjoy it.https://wolcensmen.bandcamp.com/album/songs-from-the-fyrgen
 | DungeonBoy Awesome! Yeah this is the only Sonne Hagal album I've heard so I'll check out the others you mentioned.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man, I've been listening to this Ockerwasser album, Sonne Hagal, all week. It's really solid German neofolk https://tescogermany.bandcamp.com/album/ockerwasser If you're looking for something new to check out, I think you'll dig it.
 | Dewinged Hey Brandon, thanks a lot for listening man. Here's your code: ZRU8NJ-3Q75G2 // Get it at: www.cdbaby.com/redeemAll yours!
 | DungeonBoy Awesome, I didn't want it to go to waste! The vinyl was for a preorder that ships out in February but it's a really cool neon green disc, so I'm excited to see it. I ordered Maaaet on vinyl too this month and I can't wait for that one to show up! https://ulvesang.bandcamp.com/yum code:36ue-clqe
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, I bought the Ulvesang album on vinyl and I received a download code for the album, which I had already purchased prior. Would you like it?
 | DungeonBoy Do you think you're going to go back into the studio when it comes time?
 | DungeonBoy I feel like listening to your album has made me want to include more instruments and make more interesting arrangements, so it's fascinating to hear that! I'm definitely working towards a different sound with this new stuff, I don't want to release a Vespers pt II. I think I remember talking to you about this, but I have a 15 string Kantele, and I really wanted to include that on the last EP but it didn't feel right in any of the songs, so I'd like to work it into the new songs.
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, just got the CD in the mail last night! Thanks so much for sending me one, it looks and sounds great, and it's awesome to have an official copy. I've been working on a bunch of new song ideas but definitely plan on taking my time again with whatever comes next. Have you been working on any new music lately?
 | AnimalsAsSummit new album out from my count to altek project dude, enjoy and hope you had a happy new year! millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/a-seraphia-entwined
 | CaptainDooRight I definitely didn't perceive it as corny or pretentious. To me it was very informative.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man, I would love a CD!David Abbruscato2314 Kent Street, Richmond VA 23228Thanks for thinking of me, can't wait to spin it. Hope you had a good Christmas and have a happy New year! Talk to you soon.
 | CaptainDooRight I also read you album/musical description of the direction you take with music. It was very refreshing to read that.
 | CaptainDooRight Very impressive. Upon my first two listens I didn't think of any critics naturally. I just really enjoyed the adventure. If you want I can try to listen to it with critics in mind but honestly it was a superb job my friend.
 | CaptainDooRight dude great job on the ep! did you do all the music and vocals and production?
 | CaptainDooRight Well that's very nice of you! I hope you enjoy the journey :)
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, that review just made my week. It was very well thought out, and really man thanks so much for taking the time to listen to my music and put that all together, it means so much. I've already started working on some new material, and I really hope you have done the same because I look forward to hearing more from Eloign. Still jamming Old Yarns quite often at work.
 | DungeonBoy ...to be enjoyed. But writing music is something I?ve very passionate about so I really wanted to put something out in the hopes that someone else might connect with it. Haha but I don?t know if any of that might actually fit into a review. You can call me DungeonBoy, thanks for asking, I was going to ask you that too haha, but then decided to err on the side of caution and go with bnelso55.
 | DungeonBoy The recording process was a lot of me learning what I was even doing so nothing too glamorous about that, other than it was a wonderful learning experience and I look forward to recording more music with the knowledge I have now. Project history wise, I actually starting writing some of these songs back in 2008 up until 2016 but I never felt comfortable releasing them until now because I was anxious about how people would interpret them and that they maybe weren?t good or interesting enough...
 | DungeonBoy That?s great to hear! I?m very excited that you would take the time to write about the EP, and would love to hear all criticism both positive and negative. Please be as honest as you?d like, I actually appreciate comments like, not enough variety, or too boring, or whatever so it can give me some ideas on how to improve because I look forward to writing more music.
 | DungeonBoy Thanks man! Hope you get some enjoyment out of it. You were influential in me working towards finishing/releasing it so thanks for the inspiration.
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, finally released my EP today! Let me know what you think when you get a chance to listen to it.
 | Totengott Hello, just wanted to say that your new album is awesome! Great work.
 | DungeonBoy I would love a hard copy of this, let me know when you have more info! I finally finished recording everything last night actually, and I'm pretty happy with the results. Just need to go through and adjust some volumes, EQ a couple things, but hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll finally take a deep breath and release it, and finally stop fidgeting with levels/panning/etc. cause it's driving me crazy haha. I just want it to sound the best it possibly can, which I know you appreciate.
 | DungeonBoy Review is up :) I wanted to take my time with it and I really hope I did it justice. It also gave me the opportunity to listen to this a bunch and which only helped it to grow on me even more. Great job man.
 | AnimalsAsSummit id say one of the primary reasons i make music is to have that occur; sounds becoming images and sparking the imagination. ive been into illustration since i was a child, and only started doing music about 5 years ago.... i feel like now i see them as the means to the same ultimate goal, which is to (to some degree), reignite that flame of childhood inside us, if possible. this is my goal, im beyond pleased that you found a synergy somehwat akin to this in my music. :)
 | AnimalsAsSummit ....he is one of the only people I know that listens to older 80s material in my school, this is a slight influence I wanted to do my own thing with on this record. Lastly, I think it is worth mentioning for context; the "world" in this is very much a part of the one I tried to depict in my last work with my band Count to Altek. Though this one focuses on a less organic, highly advanced, hyper-paced reality/culture. Hope this helps, and thank you! As always, I look forward to your writing!
 | AnimalsAsSummit Awesome! Something that we had here that was different than other records is better mics; we had separate mics by the drums, keys, and guitar and I blended it together accordingly while producing it. Another thing is that the guitarist Vlad is a new player I hadn't worked directly with before (only knew him through school), and our drummer had been on my previous albums. Why I included Vlad in the project was because I wanted this to have a different atmosphere than previous records....
 | AnimalsAsSummit would you be interested in doing a little review for bionic ark holography? if you're unable its cool
 | DungeonBoy I'd like to write a review for this, but not until I give it like 5-10 more listens. It's a pretty complex album. There are new parts that pop out to me every time I listen to it, so I really want to digest all of it. Anyways, hope you had a good Thanksgiving man!
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, I finally had a chance to sit down and give Old Yarns some more listens over the past couple days. Still really digging it! It's a nicely balanced album. I enjoy all of it, but I think my favorite bit is from Radiant, Dark to the end. I really love that piano piece, it's minimal but very effective and it sounds great. Deeper Skies might be my favorite song with vocals, the atmosphere on that one is perfect and I love the melodies, especially starting around the 2:30 mark.
 | DungeonBoy That?s the goal at least.. and then onto mixing/mastering everything so I?m actually happy with the release. I haven?t stopped learning new things about recording since I started recording these in August, so it?s actually been a great learning experience as well. The release date is not set in stone, but I?m thinking January 2017 at the absolute latest, and hope to finish it all in the next few weeks.
 | DungeonBoy I am in the same boat as you, as I?ve actually written a lot of these songs over the past 8 years! Dissolving Light is a newer one, but there are 3 pretty old ones, but I do feel like they fit well with the others so we?ll see. I actually really wanted to wrap this up so I can work on some new stuff, and incorporate some new ideas into some pieces. I have begun recording the final song, and should hopefully finish it by Sunday!
 | DungeonBoy I know the feeling about not sharing your personal music with people. I?ve only shared mine online and with one close friend who appreciates similar music, but I haven?t made the leap yet to share it on something like social media. It?s been nice to share it with a small handful of people and hear some positive feedback and has encouraged me to put it out there. I?m certain many people will enjoy what you?ve done beyond just a brief listen.
 | DungeonBoy atmosphere throughout, and the accompanying website. The studio report, song details, and photographs enhanced the listening experience of this. Your adoration for genuine/honest music is something I admire, and I think you definitely conveyed that with Old Yarns. I look forward to spinning this again, and it is so complex (yet natural) I'm sure I will enjoy it more and more with repeated listens. Again, excellent job! and I'm sure I'll have more to say after repeated listens. Thanks for sharing
 | DungeonBoy Hey Brandon, I don't even know where to start with replying about your music other than why didn't you tell me about this earlier! This is fantastic man, and I sincerely mean that. I can't do it justice commenting in this shoutbox, but I love everything about this. The banjo, guitars, piano, flute, vocals all sound superb. The song structures and variety are incredibly captivating, and the recording quality is top notch, kudos to your playing and the mixing/mastering job. I loved the...
 | DungeonBoy Brandon! that's awesome man. I can't wait to check it out when I get home, I'm very excited to hear it.
 | AnimalsAsSummit this is good to hear! im glad you think it works as an opener, i messed around with the track order quite a bit before deciding on what would work best for me. glad you're digging!
 | DungeonBoy Great advice man. I'm gonna call you Brandon cause that's your name. I'm David :). My goal is to finish everything and release it by the end of the year, but ideally at the end of November. If it takes longer then that's okay too, but yeah I'll let you know man, cause that would be awesome if you could give it an honest review. Thanks again for listening! Talk to you soon. Cheers!
 | DungeonBoy ... imagery they represent to me. You're literally the only person I've shared these two songs with, so it's great to hear positive feedback from someone who shares overlapping musical interest! PS. that bandcamp page is in draft mode just like everything else, so there will probably be some changes, but that album cover is a photograph my friend took that I thought matched the music well. I really want to release something organic and honest, without any pretension.
 | DungeonBoy Thanks man! It's great to hear that you dig it, I spent a lot of time getting the melodies "right" on this one. So after way too much time considering ideas, I've decided on Rota Fortunae https://rotafortunae.bandcamp.com/ as the moniker (latin for Wheel of Fortune without people immediately thinking about the gameshow haha), the song titles I've been working with are all going to be very nature inspired, in neofolkish fashion, but it's been a challenge to find the right titles to match the...
 | DungeonBoy Hey man, I finished recording a new song this weekend and have begun working on intro/closing pieces, so I think for now it's gonna be 6 songs. The two I've shared including this new one are probably the shortest not including the intro/outros, so I'm thinking it will fall into the EP category, somewhere between 15-20 minutes long. Anyways, it would be awesome if you could take a listen and let me know your thoughts.https://soundcloud.com/user-995772153/acoustic-4-29oct2016-heart-of-the-wood
 | AnimalsAsSummit my latest album is now out if you get a chance to jam. enjoy! kinggreenied.bandcamp.com/album/bionic-ark-holography
 | DungeonBoy Seriously man, that means so much to me, I hope you enjoy the rest of it when it's done. I'm happy to hear it came out sounding effortless, because there are definitely times when I've tried to record a part 10 times in a row and they all sound terrible. Recording finger picked acoustic guitar takes some serious patience for me, I sometimes have to walk away from it and come back later if I'm not in a good mental place. Cheers dude! and also still digging all of those piano recs :)
 | DungeonBoy I have a 3 songs I?ve finished recording guitars for, and I started working on a fourth last night. I?ve been writing/recording them for a couple months now but I definitely am taking my time because I want to make sure I?m happy with everything before putting it out there. Your words are a huge encouragement for me to see this to fruition, and I would be honored if you?d review it when it?s done!
 | DungeonBoy Thanks so much for listening to it and the kind words! It really means a lot. I?m glad you appreciated when the earlier guitar melody came back in the end on cello. I was definitely going for a build up to that, and glad it worked well.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man. I've been working on recording some acoustic, neo-folkish, classical, music with acoustic guitar/cello/piano, and I really wanted to know your thoughts on it because I respect you musical opinion. Check it out if you get a chance, and let me know what you think.https://soundcloud.com/user-995772153/acoustic-2-15oct2016-final
 | AnimalsAsSummit Great to hear that bud! Definitely wanted to keep this one dark; we planned the concept for it before recording and tried to express that as best we could :)
 | AnimalsAsSummit I appreciate it so much man!! You really went in depth! Btw, if you haven't heard my album My Lord's Poison in Darkfire Illusion that I did earlier this year under Millicent Waffles, check that one out if you so choose!
 | AnimalsAsSummit New stuff out man, I played a small role in the instrumentation with the keys and vocals in this but primarily did the production and additionally had 3 other musicians help me out; enjoy if you get around to it! millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/simulating-contact-against-thraxus
 | DungeonBoy I listened to the albums you recommended from Fabrizio Paterlini, Brambles, and Einaudi. I really like all three so far. Paterlini was most in the vein of what I was looking for and definitely enjoyed that one. Brambles is more minimal but as some people have described it would make for a great night time album. I found the most enjoyment in Divenire. On my third listen right now and it is so amazingly captivating. Still need to check out that Anoice album if I ever stop listening to Divenire.
 | DungeonBoy You're the man! Thanks so much, I'll be sure to check out all of these.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man, do you have any recs for piano albums similar to Death In A Snow Leopard Winter or Olafur Arnalds? I'm looking for something with an introspective atmosphere and thought you might know of something. Thanks!
 | Sevengill Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I started writing it in January and finished in May, recording various drafts of the songs as I went along. Now I just have to figure out how to get people to hear it.
 | AnimalsAsSummit new stuff man, check it if u want - millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/heliodon-over-petrified-evergreens
 | DungeonBoy Cool man, I thought of you when I heard it. It's very traditional sounding and definitely on the more ambient side of neofolk. I need to give Wardruna a proper spin, I never realized Ghaal was involved with that project haha.
 | DungeonBoy Hey man, have you ever checked out Forndom - Flykt? It's very ambient/atmospheric neofolk. Really good stuff.https://nordvis.bandcamp.com/album/flykt
 | Friday13th Jamming Pererin right now and it's totally good, man. Great pick. It's on progarchives and all I doubt anyone will have a problem with it. As I always say...when in doubt...does it have flutes? XD
 | Friday13th Thanks, man, I appreciate the concern. I don't listen to them, I just go by descriptions I read from other websites. I'll check it out and let you know.
 | Atari cool, hope you enjoy them! Sara Neufeld is actually the violinist for Arcade Fire (which I haven't heard). but her new solo album "the ridge" is just lovely. mixes minimalistic with classical and just a hint of folk influence too. her work on the violin is pretty astounding
 | Atari sweet, thanks for the recs man! I haven't heard of them but i'll definitely give them a shot. I haven't really hard any neofolk this year but I think Sara Neufeld - The Ridge is fantastic. Also just discovered Max Richter - The Blue Notebooks and I think it's pretty amazing. I could see you digging both of those if you haven't heard them already.
 | Atari hey man, hear any good neofolk in 2016 yet?
 | Beardog Thanks man, will check it out!
 | AnimalsAsSummit That's sweet! Pretty much the precise thing I try to accomplish with the stuff I make; melding the stories with the music. Awesome to hear it!
 | AnimalsAsSummit Glad ur digging Pascal, talk about underrated! Also happy to see you rated the new king green and got some enjoyment out of it :) appreciate the feedback a lot man
 | OldManGramps Thanks very much! I do feel more comfortable going into the softer realms with this project for sure. I'll be exploring that much more with Shrine!
 | OldManGramps I'm really honored to hear that you enjoyed it :) Thank you so much for the feedback! It honestly does mean a great deal to me.
 | OldManGramps Hey there! I hope things have been well with you. I wanted to let you know that I have a new EP out if you would like to check it out! https://lonneys.bandcamp.com/album/vet
 | minty901 of course id be willing to share my thoughts. youve been kind enough to do so for me, and it was really helpful. dont feel pressured to though if you arent comfortable sharing things, i would understand that.
 | minty901 As for where to upload, soundcloud is good for a demo track or two because its so quick to upload a simple mp3 or something. I prefer Bandcamp for neater, more put-together stuff and the sound quality is better but its very slow to upload and you have to upload lossless format. Bandcamp isn't really supposed to be for demos its more for final releases, but I like the layout of it so I use it for demos.
 | minty901 I think everyone thinks the same way that you do. I certainly do all the time. I need validation because I'm terrified what I'm doing is s***. But I think (hope) that if we find something to like in our own music (and we must I guess or it would never progress beyond one measure), then someone else will like it too. I have shown work friends the same demos that I've shown you and they've been like "it's alright i guess..." but shown no interest. Everyones tastes are different.
 | minty901 .....until it got to where it is now. Fortunately with the music I'm putting together, I like "through-composed" music a lot, where it wanders off and doesn't really conclude... and for me thats the easiest thing to write because I just move onto the next random idea without overthinking anything... then it's at a later date when I come back and overthink everything, but like I said the backbone is usually quite quick, like an evening or two, then the pedantic tinkering is over 2 months or so.
 | minty901 I tend to do lots of little attempts at songs that sound crap and go nowhere, then once every couple of months I get motivated and come out with a barebones version of a song in about 2 days that im fairly happy with. Then its weeks of constant tweaking for VERY little return. Most of the tracks I've spent weeks on aren't much better than they were 3 hours after I started which can be annoying. Track 4 was a quick burst of an idea probably once a month over the course of a year and a half.......
 | minty901 yeah i feel that same frustration man. sometimes i really struggle to find natural ways for sections to transition in uplifting ways. i spend days going back and forth adding in an extra measure in a transition to build suspense, then taking it away because it kills momentum, then adding it back again because i miss the suspense etc. do you have anything to share? what genre?
 | minty901 thanks so much for listening and giving your thoughts! i really appreciate it yet again. its so much work getting it done. i took the week off work last week hoping to rerecord the whole thing to better quality and all i ended up doing was rewrite track 1. dont know when ill get time to polish everything because theres such a lot that needs polishing (and a few parts that need quite a lot of rewriting still). hopefully early next year i can release the thing. thanks again!
 | minty901 well the original thing i showed you isnt online anymore but i have put a full album-length demo online (with track 1 being what i linked you to the other day, and track 4 is an expanded rewrite of what i showed you in february) that you can check out here: http://shootermusicuk.bandcamp.com
 | minty901 Sorry for the s*** formatting of my last post. Here's the link: https://soundcloud.com/shootermusicuk/track-1-demo
 | minty901 Hey there. Back in February I posted a demo I had been working on in this list:http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=481496You said you really liked it which was awesome and spurred me on. I'm still working on putting an album together and will let you know when it's done. In the meantime I've made another demo and it would be awesome if you could give me your thoughts on it. Here's the link:https://soundcloud.com/shootermusicuk/track-1-demoTake care!
 | Snowdog808 Indeed it is! I am certainly looking forward to hearing their next album. Hopefully they will be able to successfully match if not outmatch City of the Sun, though that may not be easy.
 | Snowdog808 My favorite from the album was certainly "God Left Us For a Black Dressed Woman," and one reason why is how well it blends a lot of styles yet still sounds cohesive and at times real intense.
 | Snowdog808 It's nice to see I'm not Sputnik's only serious Seven Impale fan. I'd love to know your favorite City of the Sun track if you don't mind me asking.
 | Atari no problem! glad you're digging it. it's definitely rather minimalistic in approach at times, but that first track is just too good
 | Atari indeed they do. http://ulvesang.bandcamp.com/ (the first track is simply stuning)
 | Atari if you're still on the lookout for new neofolk, I think you'd really dig Ulvesang - Ulvesang from this year. was rec'd to me by evreaia and I'm just passing it along :]
 | AnimalsAsSummit got a new album out if u get time - millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/nokturnus-excession
 | Atari no problem, just figured it was worth mentioning because I've been digging them a lot!
 | Atari have you listened to much novemthree? besides doing that split with sangre de muerdago, they have a handful of great material! been really into them lately. check out the split they did with arrowwood and their last two LP's are great as well :]
 | Atari yeah I'm positive! you're too kind haha honestly I'm looking forward to you reviewing it
 | Atari no rush at all man, take your time : ] I only asked if you were still planning on reviewing it because I'm searching for something to write about.
 | Atari Nah I haven't written a thing. You should just go for it then man, I know you'll do the album justice!
 | Atari you still planning on reviewing sangre de muerdago? if not I might take a stab at it, otherwise I'm looking forward to your review!
 | DarkNoctus yeah, it's also holding me back from the idea of performing but maybe i'll find a way to work it out!
 | DarkNoctus well i'm intending to improve my setup next time - i got myself a new guitar, for instance, and i want a decent vocal mic. though, i want to record demos in my bedroom and then take it to the studio, at least for the guitars so an amp can be mic'd up. as for vocals, i'd prefer to do them in my own comfort zone. drums will be tricky but hopefully i'll get someone interested in doing them for me!
 | DarkNoctus there's less holding you back than you think. they became the falling ash was recorded with a broken guitar, some effects pedals a mic built into a webcam. i didn't even have an amp at the time due to being broke and borderline homeless (can report that my situation is better now).
 | DarkNoctus hey, when you make something share it with me, i'd love to listen!
 | DarkNoctus i actually tried to record it several times in that 8 year period but i could never quite pull it off, i was just never satisfied. when it came to the end of last year it was a bit of a 'now or never' feeling, knowing that if i don't get it done now it'll just fade into obscurity in my head so over 3 months i slaved over the recording. so, so pleased and proud of how it turned out. it's the first recording i've ever made where i unreservedly and proudly put my name on it.
 | DarkNoctus thank you so, so much! yeah, it's always how it's worked for me - ideas form in my head and i just let them mature over time. in they became the falling ash's case, it took 8 years, heh!
 | DarkNoctus let me know what you think! i doubt i'll ever stop making music, don't you worry! i have year-long hiatuses from time to time to recharge the batteries but otherwise it's a pretty relentless process!
 | DarkNoctus thank you so much, man! you might like my other project too, ethereal shroud! i released an album earlier this year for it and it's the material i'm most proud of! got a new EP coming out for of solitude and solemn very soon, too, i'll keep youd!
 | Atari sweet, glad you enjoyed the light that dwells. the cool thing about falls of rauros is all their full lengths are sort of different from one another, so don't expect the same thing from hail wind and hewn oak or their newest release. I've actually really taken a liking to their debut lately. anyways, feel free to rec me anything you'd like as well!
 | Atari actually come to think of it falls of rauros last album 'believe in no coming shore' is probably a better starting point because it has more variety.
 | Atari my favorite falls of rauros album is probably "the light that dwells in rotten wood" but you can't go wrong with any of their three full lengths! you'll have to let me know what you think if you check them out. seems like we have quite a bit in common as far as our taste in neofolk/black metal
 | Atari glad to hear you're liking strawbs dude! honestly with the colder weather and the fall among us, I've been jamming almost exclusively neofolk and atmospheric black metal. actually jamming tenhi right now, don't think anybody can top them in the genre! But if you're looking for something new maybe jam Falls of Rauros if you haven't heard them, they're pretty great. I also enjoyed windfaerer's new album and they're kind of similar to panopticon
 | Atari that new sangre de muerdago is fantastic! such a poignant album
 | Atari cool thanks for the additional recs as well! yeah I'm going to revisit that split before listening to sangre de muergado's new one. i'll let you know what I think when I get around to hearing it
 | Atari sweet dude, thanks for letting me know! have you heard the split sangre de muergado did with novemthree? I remember it being pretty great, so i'll definitely check the new sangre de muergado!
 | Atari hey man I've been meaning to ask, have you heard any other good neofolk albums for 2015 this year besides Nest?
 | Atari sorry for the late reply, but yes the record is in excellent condition! I don't have any complaints man, thanks again!! : ]
 | Atari Hey man the agalloch record arrived yesterday....that was really fast!! I appreciate it! I'm stoked to jam it today :]
 | AnimalsAsSummit no problem! yeah i was jobless for the past 4 months and that gave me a lot of time, happy to say i'm no longer looking for work :D and thanks man! take your time with them c;
 | AnimalsAsSummit got a new album out if u get some time - millicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/son-of-ra
 | OldManGramps Thanks so much dude! I really appreciate that and am grateful for the feedback :) Thank you again for taking the time to check it out!
 | Atari thanks I appreciate it man : ]
 | Atari yeah Washington isn't bad. Where I live in Spokane isn't the best example though haha too much city and not enough trees etc. I just got back from vacation at the Oregon coast though and it's beautiful there. I'd definitely recommend going there if you ever have the time
 | Atari no huge rush man, I know you're good for it. gonna start jamming some agalloch to build anticipation haha. I've been hoping to score an agalloch vinyl for quite some time now so I'm pretty stoked
 | Atari no worries man , glad it worked out! I put my address on my pal pal account but in case you can't see it here you go.... Aaron Arneson. 1614 W. 13th. Spokane, WA 99204
 | Atari just sent you $25 bucks. got a receipt saying I paid Brandon Nelson so just make sure you actually got the money through paypal ;)
 | Atari no paypal should be just fine, I actually just created in account lol didn't take long at all! what is your email address you have tied to your paypal account or your phone number for your paypal account?
 | Atari Well I don't have a PayPal account but I can probably make one, might come in handy in the future anyways. I'll let u know once I've created a paypal account and we can go from there
 | Atari hey man you don't have to send a picture, I trust you. I'm just not sure how I'd go about paying you...where do you live and what payment method would you prefer?
 | Atari no problem at all man, it's my second favorite agalloch EP other than the white so I'd be crazy not to be interested!
 | Atari no rush just let me know once you've had a chance to double check the record! $20 sounds fair to me : ]
 | Atari gotcha dude, well let me know what you think a fair price is if you're wanting to sell it. I just wouldn't feel right taking it for free ;)
 | Totengott I'm glad to hear that, glad you like it!
 | Atari yeah I hear you man. well, I won't try to convince you otherwise if you're wanting to get rid of it. I'd want to at least pay you something for it though, how much did it cost you?
 | Atari oh dude, I wouldn't feel right taking that away from you! I thought maybe you found a copy on sale or something...that's really nice of you to offer though
 | Atari oh yeah I'm definitely interested
 | Totengott Thank you so much, that's a lot of albums to check out. I really appreciate it!
 | Totengott Hi! Do you have any folk recs for me? I need some new material to listen to this autumn.
 | DungeonBoy https://www.folkcraft.com/kanteles.htmlI was able to snag one of these on ebay for $100 shipping included, but they are pretty pricey new. I bought the 15 string because that's what A Tolonen uses. These folkcraft kantele's are wonderfully built, but I don't think I'd buy one brand new.
 | AnimalsAsSummit came out with some new tunes if you're interested; two new releases since my last kg album, so i thought I'd post both links - kinggreenied.bandcamp.com/album/send-mind-to-quasiplexmillicentwaffles.bandcamp.com/album/nokturnus-three-dynamicsthe first link is my more composition based work that took a few months to put together, the second is basically an improv jam that took just over a day. hope you enjoy!
 | laughingman22 Yeah it was my first time seeing her and wovenhand. Still kicking myself over missing an acoustic set Chelsea did a couple years ago here
 | laughingman22 It really was amazing, such a great setlist and her voice was just perfect
 | Atari you're welcome, what matters the most is to just review music you're passionate about..don't overthink it haha
 | Atari why thank you sir! my only regret is not giving the white a 5/5 review haha. as far as nailing down an effective writing style, all you can really do is keep at it and be open to feedback or criticisms as much as possible. sometimes it helps to try reviewing a different genre or something out of your comfort zone as well. hope to read more from you man : ]
 | Atari no problem at all man! i recognized your username immediately as the one who wrote the tenhi reviews, so i had to give the review/album a shot. also, remember quality over quantity...your reviews are excellent
 | Totengott Well said about the Agusa album. I wonder what they will do on their next records. The Hufnagel album definitely took some time for me to ''get it'', but I listen to it every now an d then. It's also pretty weird how he came up with something like that considering in what bands he plays ( Gorguts etc ).
 | Totengott Kevin Hufnagel's album's weird in a way I can't really describe it well, but I somehow feel connected to it. The melodies were somehow mesmerizing and were playing in my head for like 30 mins after I stopped listening, really strange.
 | Totengott I doubt I'll review it, because I've never done it before, but I can definitely give it a try atleast. I'll think about it for a while. Reviewing is something I'd like to do sometime though, so this might be the good opportunity for me.I gave it 0.5 points extra because it's just their second album and they are consistently good. It also captures a certain vibe which I absolutely love. They also keep it simple while offering a lot, that's also really nice to me.
