  • Ryus very cool i like what you have done with it, sounds like it could be part of a wizard/a true star
    November 26 01:40 PM
  • DadKungFu Any suggestions to deal with the disrespect towards the special ed students from other students? They're all capable of standing up for themselves but it definitely makes them more reluctant to be in my class

  • Colton32 is this your album?
    September 9 04:42 PM

  • Squiggly Happy birthday sona ???
    August 22 07:18 PM
  • Sabrutin hey man, just randomly remembered your comment on the Zombies thread asking for another song where the key changes down. Would Queensryche's Lady Jane apply? The transition around 2:35 I mean, when it gets sadder. I think you may dig that in general anyway
    August 20 04:00 PM
  • Ryus that one is nice, not the biggest fan of zappa but very cool early punky psych energy
    August 10 11:04 PM
  • aaronrkc I was unaware but am not surprised by this factoid.
    August 4 11:43 AM
  • unclereich also 3.5ing remain in light is very lame
    August 4 11:10 AM
  • unclereich wanted to drop by and say I cant get in to my og discord account and had to make a new one. sorry it seemed as though I ghosted your game. if you'd like my new account name just holler
    August 4 11:09 AM
  • parksungjoon when i recommend something to someone in particular as opposed to just making a list of random s*** and screaming into the void, i feel like i do always take into account what they are generally into. a lot of the time the very decision stems from knowing that X is into Y
    July 21 12:26 PM
  • parksungjoon sliiightly topical since im half considering reviewing inventions for electric guitar since gottsching passed recently
    July 21 12:16 PM
  • parksungjoon oh im well aware of many of the ways im an outlier lol. the mini historian thing is interesting cuz ive generally done that and felt that either ppl dont really care about that stuff or maybe they find it interesting to read about but it doesnt change whether theyll check or not
    July 21 12:15 PM
  • parksungjoon yea i know thats how 99% of ppl see things. honestly tho if havey unironically said check X id make a note of that whether hes ever reciprocated or not
    July 21 12:10 PM
  • parksungjoon the reciprocity can be tough on two levels for me, one being that what i look for in music tends to diverge more and more over time from what most users look for in music even assuming we're vaguely into similar things, two being that in the periods when im really into music, i tend to already expend a lot of the alotted energy on my own discovery journey including reading about s*** and noting connections so i dont have a lot left to bridge with others
    July 21 12:04 PM
  • parksungjoon do u want a no mask piece of lore or would that ruin the cave paintings for you
    July 21 11:53 AM
  • parksungjoon i think you are very likely correct
    July 21 11:40 AM
  • parksungjoon i think the reputation was/is prob fine. terse/minimal lists used to be all the rage maybe that has changed?
    July 21 11:37 AM
  • parksungjoon i think i try tailoring most of the time. the point about links is interesting but may be slightly less possible when the thing is so obscure that only a full record is uploaded. the social stuff seems kinda doomed for me lol ngl. thanks a bunch
    July 21 11:26 AM
  • parksungjoon how do u convince ppl to check s***
    July 21 10:07 AM

    May 25 12:52 AM

  • DoofDoof The Goodfight will be in rotation a while, enjoy it, definitely a few curveballs in the tracklist (very varied vocal approaches) so I havent got a total hold of it yet - usually a good thing anyway. Will get to your review at some point...and the other rec ;) Just sort of getting back into things after time off work over the holidays but I will pick up the pace.
    January 3 02:01 PM
  • DoofDoof The Goodfight has something going on, a bit hypnagogic yeah, need to give it a few more goes but it is definitely v good

  • IsildursBane44 Hey Robertsona! I know you really like a bunch of folk and more acoustic styled music, and I was wondering if you'd check out my EP I just put out. It's under the name Bateman Bridge, and the EP is 5 songs and only about 10 minutes long. I put it in the database, but for some reason I can't get the album cover to go through correctly.

  • tectactoe Damn buggy shoutbox syntax error. My original post said Playboi Carti (greater than sign) Slint, but apparently Sput sees greater/less than signs and removes everything thereafter ????

  • SandwichBubble A proper live album of their stuff would definitely do those songs some good. Your recording(s) definitely had more energy to them. Nothing bad on it, just a few songs I didn't dig as much as the singles.
    October 3 12:56 AM
  • SandwichBubble Coool. I dug the first half of the link. Hope their debut is good. | I hate to be a disappointment, but new Gustaf was just okay to me. Sorry I failed you. Still some good songs on it though (first two tracks, cruel, package).
    October 3 12:37 AM
  • SandwichBubble No problem. Gustaf debut out today, will check later tonight.
    October 1 05:58 PM

    February 27 01:41 AM
  • Gyromania yeah that was a good time. thanks again for the invite! kind of a strange way for them to end the stream, i was kind of hoping it just froze and they'd come back for another song or 2, but still, very solid tracks and a great performance

    November 23 08:15 PM
  • Gyromania Agreed, livestreams are cool for timed exclusive content sometimes. I didn't intially plan on it but I did end up checking out the entire setlist. Loved it! Strange satisfaction, muscle memory, money mouth and bender are easily my favourites. They kind of remind me (a bit) of a couple tracks from braids. You ever listen to them?
    November 19 06:19 PM
  • Sowing Oh nice. Not in a position to listen right now (rocking baby to sleep lol) but def will within a few days. Hope it lives up to the stuff from their debut because that rocked.
    November 14 01:28 AM
  • iglu sorry you asked me about Memories of Muder but haven't been here in a while so I'll answer you here. Loved it! way more than Parasite, Song Kang?ho is a riot.

  • Lord(e)Po)))ts Thanks babeeee
    November 11 12:40 AM
  • Lord(e)Po)))ts Hey man, i know we are in a pandemic and money is tight for everyone but I put together a gofundme for minushuman. I dont know if you saw his list but he suffered a pretty brutal loss this weekend and I thought maybe we could all chip in a few bucks and help him out with groceries or rent or whatever this month while he works through this tough time. If you can donate a few bucks and share this with some other users to help spread the word that would be awesome: https://gf.me/u/y743c5
    November 10 03:49 AM
  • MillionDead Finally checking that Jace album. Wouldn't call the writing elementary at all! The production is obviously lofi, but it has its charm. Some great satire in this too. And legitimately great riffs. I think the vocals might be weak in certain spots, but not in a ruin the song kinda way.
    November 9 07:35 PM
  • neekafat bigggg agree there
    November 3 05:55 PM
  • neekafat wow hey this is a BOP

    October 31 12:48 AM
  • Sowing awesome, I'll be waiting :-)
    October 29 10:54 PM
  • Sowing it's indie-pop done right. tons of energy and personality, nothing feels phoned in. one of the better recs I've gotten on this site lately so much appreciated.
    October 29 10:49 PM
  • Sowing very beautiful, but not quite as adventurous as moon kissed which is easily my preference out of the two recs. seriously can't get enough of that LP/mini album of theirs.
    October 29 10:44 PM
  • Sowing lots of R and B influence too which is a nice perk (stupid shoutbox won't allow the ampersand)
    October 29 10:19 PM
  • Sowing their live performances are somehow better than the FLAC file I downloaded which says a lot. they have great chemistry. drama queens is insanely captivating, prob my fave after 1 listen.
    October 29 10:17 PM
  • Sowing There's times they're reminiscent of other pop artists I like (I heard everything from Lorde to No Doubt, although absolutely more indie-ish and electronic than either). The vocalist is very unique and I like her style even if it can be a tad pitchy at times. I already downloaded "I Met My Band At A New Years Party" and listened to the whole thing. I'd love to get a review up for it if I find the time. Do you know the band personally?
    October 29 10:10 PM
  • Sowing That was blissful and I will be following up on their bandcamp page. Thank you!
    October 29 09:14 PM
  • anat Thx for indulging, it's not my usual fare so that probably factors in to why I'm so taken with it

    October 23 08:27 PM
  • SandwichBubble Searched for it, but couldn't find a link or anything. Only the facebook announcement. | As an aside, Trans-pecos looks like an awesome venue looking at the photos on google maps.

  • SandwichBubble Does idles piss people off? I'm really out of the loop. | I've got work on thurs/friday unfortunately, so I'll probably be asleep by the time it's on. Really wish all these shows would just upload it somewhere afterwards, but gotta make $$$ I get it. | Is it this Pure Adult you're talking about: https://pureadult.bandcamp.com/
    October 14 02:12 AM
  • SandwichBubble Song rules, love indie pop with some energy. Skipped around the rest of the tracklist a bit and it seems like Lucy's the standout track. Just assuming though. | Here's a rec for you, if you haven't already checked it: Warm Bodies - Warm Bodies | https://erstetheketontraeger.bandcamp.com/album/ett-057-warm-bodies-s-t-lp

  • SandwichBubble Checked it, liked it. Glad they're finally recording!
    October 9 09:07 PM
  • SandwichBubble Yeah, saw the palberta announcement. Though, the way it's being described on bandcamp worries me a bit. It'll probably still be good. | Hope you're right about Gustaf.

  • SandwichBubble Site crashed before I could respond, but I'll definitely check it out if I'm not busy. Thanks!

  • SlothcoreSam You should check out Hello Forever- Whatever It Is.One of the better releases this year
    October 3 11:15 PM
  • SandwichBubble Checked one of the Don Mount vids, not bad. Might check the solo stuff she has on bandcamp.
    October 3 11:00 PM
  • SandwichBubble Is it VOD or live? I think I missed it if it was live.
    October 2 12:06 AM
  • SandwichBubble Good ol' sputnik. | Album has really great bookends. Bingo Bodies is a 5/5 track for me.
    September 25 05:12 PM
  • SandwichBubble No, this one: https://rateyourmusic.com/release/ep/godcaster/godcaster-demo/ | They d3leted it off their bandcamp apparently.
    September 25 05:03 PM
  • SandwichBubble Finally checked Godcaster (I was trying to find their demo before checking the new one). Album is quality. Thanks for the reminder.
    September 25 02:57 PM
  • SandwichBubble Totally forgot to check it. I'll get on it later today.
    September 22 08:15 PM
  • SandwichBubble Definitely, that drumming is super good. Looking at their bandcamp, they've got a ton of stuff out. That's what I get for not paying attention to band members.
    September 17 05:25 PM
  • SandwichBubble Sharkmuffin is actually on my check list already! Had no idea there was any connection between them and Gustaf. Guess I have to put them at the top of my list now.
    September 17 04:57 PM
  • Voivod All the album I like, I list them in my annual massive set of lists for future reference. As for Godcaster, I really like how tight and adventurous the band sounds, a breath of fresh air in progressive rock.
    September 9 11:07 AM
  • Voivod Well, the process is basically "trial and error". I check blogs and if i like an album cover in conjunction that belongs genre I'm interested in (all rock/metal genres (save for the majority of indie pop/rock and AOR) plus limited non-metal stuff), I check the album out (even better if it's in bandcamp), and after a couple of listens I almost know if I want to listen again or not.

  • JohnnyoftheWell hahaha that cable moment was blissful, love how it gave the bassist the spotlight at the best possible moment. this sounds p cool, will give their alb a spin when it drops for sure - cheers!!
    September 1 02:34 PM
  • SandwichBubble That version's good, thanks for the link. | Haven't heard of Godcaster before but I love this. Will definitely be checking their stuff.
    August 31 09:45 PM
  • SandwichBubble This one (I was close): https://soundcloud.com/fistpumpboatdad/g-bar-1720#t=14:35
    August 31 07:26 PM
  • SandwichBubble I think my favorite song on that one is towards the middle (14-15 minutes?). Total classic.
    August 31 07:24 PM
  • Atari I'll check it out and report back - cheers!!
    August 26 08:39 PM
  • Gyromania Thanks for the recs dude. Will check em out soon and let you know what I think
    August 19 05:02 PM
  • SandwichBubble "I just have no one to talk about this band with" Hey man, if you hadn't mentioned them to me I wouldn't've even known they existed (until they released something probably), so I'm happy to chat. Your hype is my hype.
    August 5 09:47 PM
  • SandwichBubble I was planning on chopping the full Gustaf clip(s) up into tracks, but never got around to it. A long audacity session may be in my future.
    August 5 09:22 PM
  • SandwichBubble I haven't seen that vid, that's crazy! good job alex [2] for sure
    August 5 08:16 PM
  • SandwichBubble Checking their bandcamp right now, and they've got an (honestly pretty cool-looking) 5-member band pic up: https://gustaf-nyc.bandcamp.com/ | You know who's who in it (like which drummer)?
    August 5 06:53 PM
  • SandwichBubble Re:drummer Didn't know they were having trouble picking a drummer, hope they settle that.
    August 5 06:41 PM
  • SandwichBubble Yeah, it's natural for them to move on from the "4-track-in-a-broom-closet" stuff, but a selfish part of me wishes they never did. I get what you mean by the early stuff sounding thin, but like you said, those ones definitely hit that crazy live show sound well. I think they pulled off the move to studio pretty well on this new single too though, I'm conflicted. | I'll hold out hope for a Gustaf release then too, we can be disappointed/excited together.
    August 5 06:38 PM
  • SandwichBubble 2 palberta fans of sputnikmusic.com newsletter. Appreciate it, had no idea they released something. | Little wary of the more polished sound in the studio (if you could call it that), but the song's pretty good. | Also still hoping that Gustaf band to releases something soon, I'm antsy.
    August 5 06:21 PM
  • MillionDead That was a really solid set. The recording didn't sound bad at all either, or at least nothing felt lost.
    July 31 12:10 AM
  • MillionDead I'm about 14 mins into the recording and she drums with a lot of power and punk rock swagger. Great s***. I'm into this sound too, on the whole. It feels very post-punk to me.
    July 30 11:27 PM
  • luci i don't quite have a feel for what you like but check the new shinichi atobe
    July 15 09:11 AM
  • Atari Bad Moves are so addicting
    June 26 01:11 AM
  • SandwichBubble Yes I did! (the first half at least) Seriously great stuff. Thank you for recording it, cause now I'm on the prowl for that new album. | "i'll host you" that's awesome of you, thank you. But I have family in new york (long island) that I could crash with if I decided to head out there again. Born n' raised Ny-er right here (: | Stay safe out there, man.
    May 30 01:03 AM
  • SandwichBubble And drumming is really good on this first one, for sure. Resisting the urge to add this to here and RYM as a bootleg or something. | "nothing is guaranteed in these times" sucks, but yeah I'll curb my expectations. | "gustaf probably doesnt know i recorded them so dont add it" got you.
    May 21 06:57 PM
  • SandwichBubble Will check that other show too, thank you. | "theyre releasing something this year promise (so is palberta, promise)" I'm holding you to this, fingers crossed. 2020's been good for art-y punk in general, good (bad) times.
    May 21 06:53 PM
  • SandwichBubble Gustaf live recording is awesome, thanks for this. Kind of wish they released something, even if it is something like a memo recording.
