  • Bedex C'est surement dans tes plans mais si tu te fais World End's Girlfriend tu dois absolument checker ça https://www.sputnikmusic.com/bands/Mono---Worlds-End-Girlfriend/11202/
    February 23 09:45 PM
  • dedex Allez jvais checker FP, merci du filon!
    November 30 05:17 PM
  • dedex Autant RYM j'y vais souvent, autant FP je connais pas du tout, c'est quoi ?
    November 29 08:33 AM
  • dedex Yooo, thanks a lot for the tracklist, I'll get on it this week! Et ouais je suis français, mais je vis en Belgique depuis 20 ans :] Tu viens d'où ? Ca fait plaiz de voir qu'on est pas tout seul !
    November 24 01:46 PM
  • Bedex Yeah I reckoned it had something to do with how Gaussian (I guess centered on 3.0?) the rating distribution is but was curious what the exact maths behind it were, I don't really look at those stats but my nerdy mind was intrigued
    November 22 10:39 PM
  • Bedex 99% objectivity, nice dude - do you happen to know how it is calculated? I've always wondered
    November 17 10:20 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell You should totally give that Dots album another shot btw! Think it's been the steadiest grower of the year for me so far, started off like fuzzy ear candy and now is looking like a borderline 4.5
    October 15 01:11 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Mmm yeah that part about how it supports her persona (or part of her persona) gets cut up and fleshed out more and more - the script runs away with it big time towards the end. Gonna have to watch again sometime soon, gonna clear up my current circuit first
    October 15 01:10 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Mmm the multiple personalities thread in general emerges in just the right way, love how that comes to a peak later. Have you got to the episode that's basically straight up conspiracy theories yet?
    October 11 01:18 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Oh my goodness yes, I remember episode 1 being super unsettling and then 2 evening things out somewhat. There's so much ambiguity through the first half in particular, iirc episode 5 was a particular shock. Might have to do a rewatch soon, the whole thing is wonderfully compact
    October 10 05:38 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Haha yes it is!! How far in are you?
    October 10 02:01 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Ah glad you dug! Still dipping into that album, lots of good stuff (think Dots is still my top pick for that style this year, but between those two and the best bits of Spool's album, it's been a good time)
    September 29 02:03 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Wait so did you find a link in the end? Can send you a gdrive if not! And yeah Dots are so fun, keep dipping in and out of them
    May 4 04:52 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Downloading their s/t EP now ;] Which releases are you having trouble finding?
    May 4 03:11 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Not familiar with Kuroki Nagisa though, tell me more about her?
    May 1 09:34 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Hey, sure! Have a check here and let me know when you've dl'd :] https://drive.google.com/open?id=1qvrdSSq8TofMBUjuTA2KUTTgO2wVacTw
    May 1 09:34 AM
  • JohnnyoftheWell And the fact that she has the worst voice of any major label pop singer I've heard is just a guilty pleasure hehe
    February 20 06:03 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Aha, yes do it! Agree on the ridiculous/overblown side, but also she's tongue-in-cheek and performative enough that I can listen vaguely ironically as well as for straight up enjoyment depending on mood
    February 20 06:02 PM
  • JohnnyoftheWell Looks like you're pretty much the only other person on the site who rates Oomori Seiko
    February 18 12:52 AM
  • toxin. I did not study music! But I've played piano since 2001, which is partly why Chopin is my favorite composer/ musician/ artist by a massive, massive amount. And yeah, I hear ya with the Romantic music. Check out Dvorak's Cello Concerto New World Symphony, Rach's Piano Concerto #2, Saint-Saens' Introduction
    February 13 08:35 AM
  • toxin. Hey man, no worries. I'm never active anymore so you'll have to forgive me for not responding timely (actually, 2 weeks is a borderline miracle coming from me :P). Yeah, that culture is definitely one of the reasons I left the board. I do like some of the users here but overall I found it just kinda toxic. Frankly even sometimes I fell into that habit of posting those flippant, possibly rude comments that I'd scorn nowadays.
    February 13 08:31 AM
  • toxin. Cheers man, I just saw your shout from what I assume was May 2017. I'll honestly probably never be a regular here again (I don't really listen to new music anymore, besides classical/ soundtrack) but I can pop in every once in a while if there's another classical (especially Chopin) fan haha
    January 28 10:28 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Either Alligator or Boxer to start with, esp if you liked some of what you heard on Alligator already
    December 18 12:04 PM
  • DoofusWainwright In advance of trying these albums I expected to like 'Post' the best, really did. I thought 'Homogenic' (the only one I'd listened to the whole way through before this week) was maybe too arty/abstract for my taste in Bjork and I'd prefer her more song based albums. Instead the similarly arty/abstract 'Vesp' impressed me most. Saying that, 'Biophilia' which is even more arty/abstract is testing me, I just don't love Bjork's vocals enough to embrace her approach on this one.
    November 22 08:56 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Scanning your ratings and we do agree on the best two Bjork though, we have that
    November 22 08:46 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Hate to break it to you...but I'm listening to another Bjork as we type. 'Biophilia'. Struggling.
    November 22 08:45 AM
  • Sowing Thanks.
    November 12 08:22 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Not a massive fan of the man or the music but I?ll get to his discog eventually, which album do you think is his best?
    November 8 01:40 PM
  • DoofusWainwright Hmmm, I'd have thought maybe you'd like some Trentemoller based on the sound of that album. His stuff is more electronic/beats orientated but is also quite ambient/lush in places. 'Into the Great Wide Yonder' is a pretty good one of his.
    September 21 08:40 AM
  • DoofusWainwright Yeah, in the list mini-reviews I'm going to say whether I'll check the rest of an artist's discog and in this case I said I would. Great rec, thanks. Always good to start a rec comp with something unexpectedly great.

  • zakalwe Believe it or not it's a genuine one. I really like it, prefer it to Hand/Erase
    August 20 07:08 PM
  • Shadowmire I asked for them to be wiped because there were too many things I wanted to remove or adjust
    July 21 01:25 PM
  • Archelirion It's a character from Acchi Kocchi, Tsumiki Miniwa. And thanks! ^ ^
    May 29 07:31 PM
  • DoofusWainwright He hasn't released a bonafide regular proper album in that time though
    May 26 09:16 PM
  • FullOfSounds Aaaaaaaa. I definitely don't like that Anathema album but I could see Phoenix growing
    May 13 05:13 PM
  • Flugmorph ye mine isnt big aswell, maybe A4 format
    May 1 01:30 PM
  • Flugmorph ye dude i know the picture series and i have a high quality copy of that same picture on my wall rn thats over 70 years old lol
    May 1 12:50 PM
  • Flugmorph thats a sweet picture of mt. fuji right there ma frien
    May 1 12:31 PM
  • SandwichBubble Well, I'm allowed to listen to music while I work, so that helps with the "listening" aspect. As far as "immediately understanding" an album, nothing could be further from the truth. You have no idea how many times I've gone back and re-rated albums. (I just did a few today in fact haha). And thank you for the kind words. :)
    April 22 09:04 PM
  • theBoneyKing That is indeed where it comes from!
    April 22 12:42 PM
  • Mythodea Neither narrow, nor cloudy, but definitely a bit hasty - your mind, that is. All I'm saying is that, no matter how great, evocative, emotional etc. the pieces are, the emotional connection comes when the music becomes the soundtrack of a memory. Meaning, when I've connected the Nocturnes with a specific, detailed, intense incident of my life, then I'll give it the 5 you so desperately crave ;P
    April 4 07:29 PM
  • Mythodea However much I like the nocturnes, I miss that emotional connection that only comes with years. Are they everlasting? You bet they are. But everlasting in my mind? Well, not yet.
    April 4 05:42 PM
  • Mythodea Tempting, I must say. Thy offer is not to be ignored, certainly not by a quantity stand! I confess, your will to please me flatters me, but don't find comfort in my words, for I'm not fooled by insidious gifts and serpent servants! I am obliged to decline. 4.5 it is my rate, not a bit more. I was never a man to abandon values for wealth, no matter how charming and desirable. Remorse for my momentaty weakness is hard enough, remorse for acceptance is deadly.
    April 4 05:07 PM
  • Mythodea I guess I could give it a 5. What do I have to gain, though? Give me an offer I can work with.
    April 4 03:30 PM
  • Pangea yeah definitely. i've always been interested in prehistoric creatures so the walking with series has always been very interesting for me. they're very well made too. and yeah the creatures look really cool. especially anomalocaris looks pretty awesome. i should probably rewatch it too. it has been a couple of years
    April 3 08:36 PM
  • Pangea Yeah true. I love the documentary. Can't go wrong with bbc docs
    April 3 07:46 PM
  • DoofusWainwright My 4.5 and 5's are at about the same quality level, the 5s just tend to have more of a personal significance. I always have a few 4.5s that I'm considering bumping to a 5.
    March 27 08:06 PM
  • DoofusWainwright It's easier to keep objectivity high the more ratings you have as once you achieve it individual ratings have less and less significance. You definitely need more 5, 1.5 and 1 ratings but if it means cheating to get them then I wouldn't cheat. The only way I 'cheated' was seeking out albums I knew I wouldn't like and having a bit of a drive to find more 4.5-5's (never a bad thing to find more great albums so hardly a hardship) and promoting about 5% of my 4.5s to 5's.
    March 27 06:53 PM
  • BHAR Nah, my last active date was always changing.
    March 27 03:38 PM
