| Jethro42 there comes a time where I have to matchup pairs, and then it's too late to make changes. I can understand your frustrations, but understand mine. I try to put together a game, and I'm not favorising the other people. If you show respect, you get respect. I mean come on, the guy comes in trying to enter Frank Zappa in the middle of the street.
| Jethro42 No, I haven't say to take another album. It was too late to do so. I'm not able to ctiticize in English. The thing I don't like is that you only say two or three words; ''I vote 2'' It's like you don't listen to the entire albums. It's the impression it gives to me. For the time lapse, you had more than 40 days to find a candidate., from the start. I don't know man, show some volonté. Go ahead, dude.
| Jethro42 As I asked you in the thread of the last match; do you listen to both albums more than once? Your votes always seem precipitated. You don't seem serious.
| Jethro42 Reminding to voting on Prog epic Rd 3. Tomorrow is the last day.
| Jethro42 When I told you to make a change, it was already late to do so. I have candidates to match up. It's already a mess. Now it's done, I don't want to restart again.
| Jethro42 ok I see, it's a live album. But man, I already match up the albums. It would be supplementary works in adding a new one. Lots of work already.
| Jethro42 I don't see that album anywhere.
| Jethro42 Reminder to voting on Prog epic Rd 2. You have until tomorrow.
| Jethro42 Reminder to voting for Prog epic rd 1. Tomorrow is the last day.
| Jethro42 Keep up the one you have then. It's up to you.
| Jethro42 Not much prog to be found in your candidate. If you have a better idea, send it to me. If not, we stay that way.
| Jethro42 text is too long, and I need your links.
| Jethro42 All right. I'm waiting after you, mate.
| wham49 ok thats fine, I'll write something up this after noon at some point, thanks if you havent check the SM album, totally preprog classic, kinda like early Ffloyd
| Jethro42 Soft Machine got 175 votes, and we want 30 votes as a maximum, so it's gonna be Spirit?

| Jethro42 A new prog tourney note; As promised, a tenth tourney is about to begin. Please, choose a progressive rock album that contains less than 30 votes on sputnikmusic. I soon will open a new thread announcing the tourney. In that said thread, there will be the rules, and you will be invited to write a blurb about your knight. It's time to recrute the concurrents. If you have any questions, it will be my pleasure to answer.
| Jethro42 I mean for M9. We need a tie breaker.
| Jethro42 It's getting late...Do you think you're going to make a move? Because otherwise, I'd have another alternative. Just asking. You're in priority, of course.
| Jethro42 Hi wham, I hope you're doing ok. You know, it's only a game. For sure it sucks to get only a few points, but you don't have to worry. It takes a winner and a loser for every match. Better chance next time, buddy.
| SharkTooth Reminder to vote on M3 of the prog tourney
| wham49 I gave it to you, you said you didnt need one you know Genesis A to Z, that was the write up
| Jethro42 I don't know what you're talking about (I speak French). What is the difficulty to do a write up? Everybody did one. Please be more clear.
| Jethro42 I know Genesis from A to Z, and I'm very familiar with Brand X. I personally don't need a Brand X blurb. People loves to read a blurb, and so everyone got to do so. I feel insecure if not. I bumped up Product to a 4. My favorite album is Unorthodox Behaviour. It's perfect to me. Moroccanroll is my second favorite. It's like U.B. 2 but with 'ok' vocals here and there. Product may be my third one, close to Masques.
| Jethro42 That Brand X album is all right, dude.
| DoofDoof Thanks for reading, I am too tough on Sabbath possibly because I am from an era where albums were 20 minutes longer (but spaces between releases were also a lot longer) and I just feel cheated with an 8 song album if I only love four or five of those songs...but they were churning them out every 6 months! Combine the best of albums 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6 and I am sure there would be 4-4.5 ratings I guess. I do love a load individual Sabbath songs thats for sure, I keep going back to them
| DoofDoof If you fancy reading my terrible opinions on Aerosmith and Black Sabbath (among others) then head to:https://rateyourmusic.com/list/DoofusWainwright/doofs-band-of-the-week/At least there I explain myself ;)
| MotokoKusanagi take my line go fishing for a tuuuesday, maybe take my supper, eat it down by the sea!
| Friday13th Sure that album works, leave me a description in my shoutbox and I?ll include it.
| Uzumaki Niiiice. You enjoy and relax!
| Uzumaki You?re from Kenosha? I?m in Sheboygan, originally from Milwaukee; small world!!!
| SlothcoreSam Have you heard of The Orphans, just stumbled upon their album Raise the Youth, and it is an instant classic!!!! I can't find anything about them. https://open.spotify.com/album/7jQsxQTD70HmSzAp5ftWlR?si=op9fMOwySyC4zZfzeNTH5w
| ArsMoriendi Check the band Goat. I think you might like them. Their album World Music is really good.
| Divaman Hey Wham, have you got a song for us this month? https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=191567
| Divaman Remember to vote in the folk tourny today.
| Divaman Remember to vote in the second match of the folk tournament today.
| MotokoKusanagi 1974-06-23 that darkstar - spanish - usblues is crazy man
| Divaman Don't forget to vote today in the folk tourney.
| Divaman Hey Wham, have you got a song for us for March? The theme is "Winter".
| Divaman Hey Wham, it's me again. Have you got a song for us this month?
| Divaman Hi Wham. Have you got a SOTD for us? This month's theme is your favorite song of the 2010's.
| Divaman Hi Wham. I was wondering if you might have a song to contribute to the November Song of the Day list (https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=189442). This month's theme is gifts - a song you like that you were recommended by someone on Sputnik. Thanks.
| Friday13th You got a vote for the final, Pulsar v. Wobbler? It's a tie right now!
| Friday13th Hey man, we need your vote for the latest prog match ASAP!
| Friday13th Fireballet counts. Fever Tree doesn't appear prog enough.
| Friday13th We can't do those Eloy albums because they have over 30 ratings.
| bgillesp Yeah, had to pause it before scarlet begonias so I?m gonna finish it out, but it?s certainly not their best. My fav so far is 2/13/70 but I haven?t listened to that many shows yet either
| bgillesp Sounds good. I?m taking a class on the Dead right now at my university. We just hit ?77 so I?m listening to Cornell as I type this.
| bgillesp Nice dig. Slowly finding other deadheads around here
| zakalwe Franklin?s Tower has a hell of a catchy chorus. Roll Away The Dew. Nice!
| zakalwe Ello dude. Can you recommend one grateful dead song guaranteed to have an impact on first listen?
| zakalwe Cool! Regarding your neighbour have they been to London recently? It would be interesting to know what they think. Place is the ninth circle of hell gentrified.
| zakalwe That Londons Burning book looks quality Wham. I?m going to order it. 17 quid for a paperback though!
| Friday13th lol I'm a bit swamped out of my mind with work. Maybe in the winter I'll manage.
| RestInPieces e-mail me at stameybt@appstate.edu for the whole list!
| BenMorrison Let Me In would be a great start for Poobah. Then listen to U.S. Rock (Sounds kinda like Alice Cooper I think) and Steamroller (Their masterpiece of guitar acrobatics).
| Friday13th wham, give me a short description of why you like Ghosts
| Friday13th lol you can do Stawbs - Ghost. Good choice btw. We did already do Banquet in the "Obscure Prog" tourney. I get what you're trying to do with the separate sides when only half the album is prog, but I can't have people doing that.
| Friday13th Prog tourney this Monday, Memorial day!
| Fear I am glad to see someone of like mind friend! Sipping on Earl Gray tea, hypnotized by the fire 'neath my heart...a wondrous and simple way to live!
| Titan wham bro sorry about your cubs.....something was off with them the entire season yet they still made a solid push.....do or die for my boys tonight, never even expected to be in this position.....does the magic continue???
| Dedes Hey wham check Ulcerate, they're a really good classic metal band akin to Pentagram and Black Sabbath.
| Frippertronics Something/Anything? is a solid entry but in the long run, I feel it really misrepresents what Todd is about. Solid album nonetheless although it's bookended by albums that are better than it (Ballad/Wizard)
| Jeffrulesyou Ayo Wham how are ya? I think it came out a few weeks ago.. they got two singles 'The Scheme' and 'The Seven' good stuff!
| Jethro42 Nice! You just have to go to that link, and say you want to participate.
| Jethro42 Hey man! Friday13th is preparing another of his prog tourneys. Would you be interested to be a part of it? Please, apply here. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=166576
| Titan ahhh nice, hope it's a good move for you bro......i've been listening to the new Leprous and Steven Wilson, as far as new music is concerned.....both are pretty good
| Titan sup bro, haven't been on much......hows you?
| TheSpaceMan yeah of course, their live stuff is the best!
| Divaman Any chance of convincing you to go ahead and review one of those first two Monkees albums?
| DoofusWainwright I'll check, sounds interesting. Yeah, don't worry, I'm never taking any difference in opinion too seriously here, it's all in good humour. I'll def take a closer look at your ratings, always looking for more 60s/70s/80s stuff off the beaten track.
| DoofusWainwright Damn, you have the most trad taste on the site, and don't get me wrong I'm not saying that's a bad thing
| RunOfTheMill Yeah Walk in the Blue Light is my fave so far, but I'm only on track 4!
| RunOfTheMill oh s*** never realised When the Screams Come was that old of a song, rad
| RunOfTheMill hi wham I'm feeling adventurous, rec me something
| Storm In A Teacup I'm just getting back into it. I want to contribute like I did when I first joined.
| Storm In A Teacup Check out my new review. You like Tom Waits and Black Sabbath so you should like the new Super Snake album
| manosg hahaha you're too kind, dude. Thank you very much!
| Titan some of them are just useless twats.....quite a few on that thread haha
| Titan most of those users are flat out cancer
| Titan oh indeed you did, but most of those users on that thread i wouldn't even think of responding to......the ignorance of a lot of millennials are off the charts haha
| manosg I really like it, man. I'm one of those on here who like a down to earth review without too much prose and s*** and I love it when it's by people who know what they're talking about. Your review is both informative and has your personal touch and I really appreciate this. And now that you've taken Titan's remarks under consideration, it's even better. I actually think that you should write more often, if you have the time.
| Jeffrulesyou Sounds like a hell of a fun time man, coach too? I'm a casual, but I'm from the NE. Living on the Rhode Island/Connecticut line. I play during spring/summer.. Winter is rough here, so that's my dome time. I don't play for any teams or anything like that just for a course/club friends kind of deal. It's my go-to resort from the wife
| Jeffrulesyou Very cool! So, you've already got the temperament for the youngins' ha ha. I couldn't agree more. That seems how a lot of music is being made nowadays; there's no band that's really pushing the envelope so-to speak. Way back when you could point to a dozen groups, but now it's to a lot less substantial of a scale. In my mind, I'm thinking a lot of these 'sub genres' groups are just jocking a style catering to a certain audience y'know? A lot of these newer bands really have no identity.
| Jeffrulesyou You're a teacher, Wham? and I agree, 100% digital age isn't the same that's for sure. You'd think being alive for a few decades while listening to music and having a fair opinion on music would earn you a fair debate on here? NAY! A lotta folks on here are stubborn, but I could see where you're coming from. As I've gotten older, I've learned as long as it's good it doesn't matter what it is.. all the genres and sub-genres are too far fetched now, gotta keep it simple.
| Jeffrulesyou Digging the lists bro! I was telling Titan, I don't how you put up with these kids man, they don't know what they're talking about. 'Best decades' spot on! We both know 2000s/10's blow chunks in comparison
| Titan haha like i've told you bro, pick your conversations wisely....these ignorant clowns aren't worth your time
| Titan im in pain man.....a dark week for sure....
| Titan what the hell are the Yankees thinking with that Chapman contract? guy is 'ok', but lacks command of his fastball and blew game 7 of the world series wtf
| Titan they've contributed zero to the economy....truly a waste of YOUR time
| Titan lol you're talking politics with a bunch of 20 year olds who don't know s***....save your energy my man
| Titan Congratulations my main man! You're long wait is over!! ~epic game
| guitarded_chuck congrats brother - check this, from a 1993 hs yearbook http://i.imgur.com/WeNTOCl.jpg
| BenMorrison I have answered your comment on my latest list.
| guitarded_chuck Yeah I dunno man Jose is so hot and cold now it's to be expected but we needed guys like Martin Pillar to get get going. Jays offense seems to run on momentum and they just can't get going against this amazing Indians bullpen. That Miller slider is one of the best pitches I can remember in a looooong time. Dodgers are a good team man they're finally figuring it out the Cubs are gonna win the WC but none of the 3 other teams left are going to be an easy go.
| manosg Will definitely do, man. Since I checked both Toad and Roky because of your list, I'd like to return the favor; whenever you have some free time, feel free to jam Fraction - Moon Blood and Morgen - Morgen.
| manosg Wasn't aware of Roky's story. A pretty sad one, definitely. Reminds me of Peter Green, one of the greatest talents on guitar and disappointments at the same time, even though his mental issues weren't his fault.
| manosg Definitely. Don't get me wrong, had I jammed Toad when I was younger or if I had listened to it repeatedly, I'd probably rate it even higher. Great songwriting, awesome guitar tone. And those bands in the '70s, even though had considerably less means at their disposal, had impeccable productions.
| manosg Hey man, just checked that Roky Erickson album on your latest list and it's pretty great! Dunno about you but I hear a lot of Rolling Stones in his music. His lyrics of course are not so Stones material.
| Titan if i was a Cub fan, i guess i'd be hoping for the Mets in the WC round.....wouldn't want to go up against SF.....Cards going to miss
| Titan the only thing i have going right now is Gary Sanchez, Tanaka, and Betances (overworked). Greg Bird coming back next year and I should have that crucial 3-4 punch...
| Titan i am one of the few who really like the getaway, it's my favorite as a whole since blood sugar.....it has a lot of hooks and poppy elements to it which i'm a sucker for....of course cali and by the way are pretty great albums, but it's better than their last 2 outputs for sure
| Titan true test starts right now for sure
| Titan ur almost 40 games over.....very impressive
| manosg Oh yeah great stuff as well.
| manosg Indeed, Tapestry is so brilliant and diverse. A shame that more people on here haven't given it a chance. Dave Van Ronk is a great mention and I still haven't checked any of his stuff. That's why I'm making Folksinger a priority.
| manosg Ugh, message has been truncated but I'm really interested in reading your favorite folk albums. Mine are on this list. First five are my top 5. http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=737124
| manosg Caravan is special indeed. Both Moondance and Astral Weeks are on my top 5 favorite folk albums. Van has such an ability to create images that is unmatched by anyone, for me.
| manosg Sure thing man, hope you enjoy some of the recs. Also, lovin those Van Morrison ratings. The man doesn't get the love he deserves on here.
| manosg And a few recs for when you want to listen to something different: Trespassers William - Different Stars (shoegaze/dream pop), Emancipator - Soon It Will Be Cold Enough (trip hop), Loreena McKennitt - The Book of Secrets (world music/celtic), Autumn's Grey Solace - Within the Depths of a Darkened Forest (shoegaze/dream pop), Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club (afro-cuban), The Last Drive Heatwave (rockabilly), Nina Simone - Pastel Blues (jazz/soul/blues).
| manosg Prog: Fates Warning - Theories of Flight (no wank, focus on songwriting), Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing, Nosound - Afterthoughts, Riverside - Out of Myself, Anathema - Judgement.
| manosg Doom: Sorcerer - In the Shadow of the Inverted Cross (one of the best hidden secrets in doom), Avatarium - Avatarium (with female vox), Jex Thoth - Blood Moon Rise, Om - Advaitic Songs (mix of doom and psych).
| manosg Sure thing dude. I do get bored every once in a while listening to the same old stuff again and again so I know what it's like. Stoner: Nightstalker - Dead Rock Commandos, Burn the Sun - Crack of Dawn, Villagers of Ioannina City - Riza (this one has a lot of Greek tradition elements, not an easy listen), Zodiac - A Bit of Devil (blues rock, rather than stoner).
| Titan well it looks like we both got what we needed! for my sake, i hope you guys are kicking yourselves 3 years from now or so
| Titan Yanks are in a world of hurt....at least Tex will be gone after this year and Arod after next....then we will have some flexibility to build a decent team....Cubbies on the other hand....! The pressure will be intense for them come September.....
| Gemini1979 I haven't listened to all their albums but my favorite with the Alice Cooper Band so far is Love It to Death. I plan on listening through the rest of their discography some time in the future.
| Titan no no bro, i mean wait until we ACQUIRE Arietta
| Titan cant wait until we go after Arietta
| Titan batting .465, 2 homers, 8 rbi
| Atari that's ****ing nuts man, I probably have around 100-150, but I've only been collecting for a little more than a year. such an addicting hobby though.
| Atari yeah it'd be cool to have that version, but nope haha. how many records do you have man?
| Atari Hey, it looks like the freewheelin' Bob Dylan record I got is stereo not mono and through Columbia records ;) I know a lot of people prefer mono, but it's sounding fine to me. Although I gotta admit, the Beatles records I own on mono are some of my best sounding records
| zakalwe http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1010176
| zakalwe Some fine picks there my man (Who's Next and Highway 61 are total classics) check my list for my all time faves.
| zakalwe Greatest album of all time?
| Titan sweet bro......70 and sunny here :D
| Titan two Pearl Jams shows at Wrigley coming whambro
| NeroCorleone80 I've heard it once, cant remember much but from what I recall it wasn't all that good
| Titan what do you think of my boys signing Starlin?
| Titan the art of going to a record store and picking up one of your favorite bands new releases, going home and cracking that baby open, and listening to it while you gazed at the album art/lyrics/liner notes for the very first time is a long lost experience that can't be captured today....the internet isn't all good
| zakalwe The Damo Suzuki trilogy of Tago Mago, Ege Bamyasi and Future Days are total mind melters. They're a relative late discovery for me as well.
| zakalwe Who's Next is a fave. At the moment The Clash - London Calling or Can - Tago Mago are mine but I always come back to Spiritualized - Ladies and Gentleman we are Floating In Space. I just bloody love that record.
| zakalwe What's your greatest album of all time dude?
| MrSirLordGentleman Do you dig Supertramp? They're cheesy as hell but that's the whole point of their albums, radio friendly songs that manage to be darker than 90% of prog rock
| Titan there are good users....you will find them
| Titan that Ramones thread....ur wasting ur time with these ignorant folk
| Titan sirlord is all good!
| Titan best thing you can do is IGNORE an ignorant comment........they want a reaction out of you
| Titan just be aware that the userbase is very young.....not worth getting into conversation with many of them
| Titan There are more Met fans in the state of New York than Yankee fans....fact. Nationwide, different story. Citi Field is 'amazin'.
| Titan someone from FOX is getting fired tomorrow
| Titan rough indeed.....you'll get one eventually.....and it will be sweeter than everyone else's
| Titan you don't want to face deGrom, syndegaard, and harvey
| Atari hey man sorry for the late reply. if you go to your profile on the left it should say quick links (towards the bottom) and you need to click on help forum. in there it will just ask for you user name and password and after you sign in you should be able to post in the forums. hope that helps
| Titan yes, but then came tino.......i love donnie baseball obviously but it kills me to see him out in LA
| Titan yeah but you have to realize, the yankees and cowboys didn't offer much in the eighties when i was getting into sports.....i can't remember anything from the 70's dude......big NYRanger fan as well......Cards look tough yet again
| Titan welcome aboard my friend......the passion of the music!
