 | Futures oh hey mortimus, i was going to respond but your shoutbox was closed lol. def seems right up my ally, i'll get to them soon!
 | ABalefulAura thirtysixchambers / motokokusanagi, sorry for the delayed response brother
 | DrGonzo1937 Alright mate. I?ll check them out at work today! Thanks for the rec
 | Futures ok whew lol. got that response from you a few times and i was like are you broken haha. you will def dig that album i think!
 | Futures did i do something to you? lol. very odd vibes. hope you are well.
 | Sinternet All good man, i'll hop back in at some point. Just kinda sick of people parading around pretending to be nice to people going through a tough time and then me getting laughed at or insulted or not taken seriously when I say I'm going through s***. I'll maybe pop back at the weekend.
 | unclereich sounds like a blend of afghan twigs and unwound, digging it
 | unclereich I?ll check and report back sometime in 2026
 | unclereich Hmmm no but looks interesting where should I start
 | Pheromone ohhhhhhhhh mort isn't life just suffering oh god oh no oh my check black eyes
 | DavidYowi Im doing well and thoroughly enjoyed the new pyrrhon https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?memberid=1195191
 | Pheromone idk i went for a run yesterday and a song of theirs came on and it really did get me going it really did
 | mryrtmrnfoxxxy 05.20.24 Noise rock to check ? good stuff here. u check Slug yet?
 | Valkoor952 Hell yeah, the debut is slightly undercooked, but it has some very nice ideas
 | Slex Miss you too dude I appreciate that
 | veninblazer Hey, I'm good. Just been involved with making my own wrestling review site and being more active on RYM/elsewhere. Thank you
 | Sinternet sorry big bazza but those wronguns have got some choons to be honest mate
 | constantchange also funny that you're digging Boys Against Girls, they've been slowly growing on me finally. maybe there's hope I'll come around to Shudder to Think yet hehe
 | Demon of the Fall not signing up to the thread but nice Destroyer Kaputt slander. Then again, unlike you I don't really dig Prefab either
 | BitterJalapenoJr I have checked all four Fear Before without reading anything/rating checkings ans assume that your breakdown was the first two as sold, the third as classic and the fourth as meh. Would that be correct? I am enjoying greatly so thanks for the rec.
 | constantchange i copped all 4 represses on the drop day lol. and Brooks sounds pretty dopethey're my first vinyl purchases, aside from Tragic Boogie by TLaT (which I ordered a couple weeks ago lol), and some random ones i got cheap at an auction kinda for the hell of it.long may Shiner reign!
 | BitterJalapenoJr I am in need of Mort-related assistance. I am struggling with my moronic list would like a post-hardcore or noise rock rec to replace something else on the list and I feel you are the ideal person to throw me something. Ideally with no more than 8-10 full lengths. Any ideas my good man?
 | SomeCallMeTim err yeah Idk why I said at the time of or directly following, nor do I really remember writing that. too many beers watching the Euro. What I probably meant was like in the 2010s albums like Define The Great Line were all the talk but I can't recall ever seeing that album mentioned. I'm sure it was and I was just being blissfully ignorant
 | SomeCallMeTim It is indeed! I?m a little astonished it wasn?t bigger talk on this site during the time of / just following its release. I don?t remember seeing any talk of it
 | Uzumaki Can?t wait to read it, bruv
 | Uzumaki Wanna hear your thoughts on the entries in your new core list
 | bludngorevidal gracias Mort. I?ve been around for a decent minute but I?m tryna pitch in to keep the community afloat
 | SomeCallMeTim I did notice that looking at the different versions on RYM, Cake is a great closer and I mentally closed off the album there but Two Black Eyes is indeed incredible and also serves as a great closing track. I wish the post-hardcore shoegaze space-rock-revival sound had a bigger and longer-lasting scene
 | SomeCallMeTim been doing myself a real disservice by not checking Shiner! Like a mathier, slightly less gazy Hum. Already peeking at LPs on discogs..
 | SomeCallMeTim awesome, I think I'll check them out next because I've actually been putting off checking Shiner for yeeeeeeeeears, even though they are talked about quite a bit around here
 | SteakByrnes I have always really hated how JD sounds production wise, and Jane Live alleviates those issues I have with it lol that?s literally the reason. I haven?t hit the studio version of it in years tho so maybe it?ll be better now
 | JayEnder Laziness Mort. Laziness. (tbh I completely forgot I made those 4 lists lol it's something I tend to neglect here on ol sput)
 | Purpl3Spartan I too love using flush fives to manifest more chips than there are atoms in the universe
 | Futures have fun on your trip man. sounds sick. me and some friends saw the us kick the s*** out of costa rica at copa 2016 and it was a memory i'll have forever.
 | AsleepInTheBack Albert Ayler - Spiritual Unity OR Cecil Taylor - Conquistador Both jazzBoth skronkTake your pick bucko
 | FearThyEvil Yeah, that song is so much fun especially when Dave's vocals kick in. The bass tone on that record in particular is incredibly well done
 | Butkuiss You literally can?t spell Skronk without KORN
 | AsleepInTheBack Guilty as charged lol I mean after a year of monthly lists I figured Id take a break from the format, or rather im doing the log thing as a personal record thing rather than something im expecting anyone else to find interesting or follow if that makes any sense, felt like Id hogged enough of dim sputlight for a while.
 | calmrose Nice! I'm glad you liked it, and the other two releases reissued on Light In The Attic Records are also excellent (Nine Post Cards and Green). Need to dive more into his work.
 | Futures i revisited spirit for the first time since release and yeah it ain't good lol. doomed is excellent though. a poppy linkin park ripoff feels so quaint now in 2024 and therefore kind of refreshing? i actually haven't heard amo yet but i am curious. i'm not against pop metal at all. just kind of fascinated at the overwhelming praise for this and how bmth has caught a second popular wind. i understand it to a point though of course. it is definitely different.
 | Futures i've been doing that lately, it is interesting especially if you are disagreeing with the review. curious is this your fav bmth since sempiternal?
 | Futures really appreciate you taking time out of your day for that. means a lot man!
 | Rowan5215 I'd take FWM over it but neither has me ride or die these days like they used to
 | Rowan5215 that band grew off me something fierce in general, never really listen to em anymore
 | Futures mortimus, i would be curious as to your thoughts/feedback on my bmth review
 | Frippertronics i have returned to tell you to listen to admiral angry's buster (and to listen to the lovers bro)
 | JohnnyoftheWell damn kiddo that's a serious question, hope you don't mind if i pay it no mind and instead ask you whether absol or zoroark is a better dark-type mascot (ha ha we have fun get back on discord)
 | Shamus248 who is your fave gen 1 starter pokemon?
 | Shamus248 Glad I live rent free in y'alls heads lmfao
 | JohnnyoftheWell thread/shamus/fact he got promoted are all cringe af and i am not going back there lmao
 | SlothcoreSam Hey Mort, u ever check Necro Deathmort. Their first 2 albums are great. Plus their name is you.
 | Sevengill haha, sorry to make you have to look it up. I appreciate that!
 | JohnnyoftheWell oh lawd lol both are albums i've turned on at some point and not made it to the end of
 | lols don?t be 2016 me!
 | Tundra Deleted and reposted cause I said they where a metalcore band in their current era which I was wrong about. Thought that was the source of negs but nope. Just when I thought I was getting better at writing.. sigh.
 | Futures thanks my man. i still feel like a time displaced man lol. nothing like the good ol days. so many good memories.
 | heck oooo yeah that list is awesome, will definitely check out the stuff on there I haven't already heard
 | heck any list that starts with The Jesus Lizard and Cherubs is a good list. bookmarked it for later, also reminds me I was gonna check Unwound soon
 | heck yeah somebody rec'd Disembodied and I loved em so now I'm brushing up on my 90s punk/hxc/mxc history. I'll check that out, sounds right up my alley!
 | heck nice to see a fellow Johnny Truant enjoyer
 | DoofDoof I guess I am a lot closer to listening to music how I used to, not a hundred new albums a week, and right now I think that suits me. I dont think I could really do justice to a deep dive at thr moment, a lot more distraction right now. Hopefully sometime I feel different, I tend to get the itch to return to most things.
 | DoofDoof With Aimee Mann I prefer her later stuff but that album is so much better than the debut, will try and revisit this week. Would definitely be interested in reading a review of it if you write one. The deep dive was great, found a lot of stuff I would not have otherwise, but right now I am enjoying focusing on new releases and discog diving some bands I have neglected (The Fall, Killing Joke, Wire, etc)
 | AsleepInTheBack Lol you are growing increasingly difficult to identify. I think I will be in a Super Mario t shirt and a lumberjack-esque jacket, glasses, blond short hair, no beard. It?s like where?s Wally but without any distinguishing features.
 | AsleepInTheBack Yo that is cool! I did see that quote on their fb but didn?t know they were using it more broadly. I kinda wish I didn?t include ?hecking? in the review now.
 | lols did u ever get that philosophy degree?
 | BitterJalapenoJr Greetings Mortimus. Thought I'd drop by to let you know that Shiner has been ranked on my list should you care to give your thoughts.
 | BeeRyan Hey thanks for checking in. My phone doesn't ever remember my password here for some reason so I just haven't been too active! Also specifically that Jacobi album totally whips but knowing there were legal actions against the singer took it out of my rotation pretty much
 | AsleepInTheBack Thank you good sir I hope you are well. I renounced all guitar music, in your footsteps. I?m also seeing pig destroyer and napalm death and botch and wormrot and primitive man and great falls live in the next 2 weeks. Oops.
 | Pheromone i promise i dont mean to ignore kiss kiss
 | DoofDoof Guess I could have said Posh Spice x5 or my alt name for the band: Florence, Florence, Florence, Florence, Florence and the Machine
 | DoofDoof Yeah, tried to get into it but feeling a 2.5-3 rating, as you say definite whiff of NME endorsed style over substance
 | Pheromone wow i didnt see this and if i did who knows if i wouuld have eever voted
 | AsleepInTheBack Sweet that?s hype. I need to message the band and get us free t shirts.
 | BMDrummer you ****in know it, listened to them on the train ride home and they rocked me
 | Koris It'll probably be my most boring writeup ever, lol
 | SlothcoreSam Yeah it's good, but nothing original, mainly thought of you with the album name, lol.
 | Rowan5215 look you posted it like a meme lmao you dug yourself this hole mortimus prime
 | JohnnyoftheWell hey honey, know we haven't spoken in weeks and I'm sorry to hit you up like this, just wanted to let you know I have no idea where the kids are either
 | BitterJalapenoJr It's fifth run-through made Christmas shopping almost bearable. Will be sure to keep youd
 | Spec Yeah the mods have been taking away my 0.5 ratings. They must have got that one too.
 | Spec CHECK SHINER CHECK SHINER CHECK SHINER CHECK SHINER CHECK SHINER CHECK SHINER CHECK SHINER CHECK SHINER
 | Spec Check The Shining. It?s a solid novel.
 | mryrtmrnfoxxxy lol i checked lula a few months ago but i don't remember it. ill check it again this week
 | AsleepInTheBack That is a damn fine birthday prezzie early Christmas bonus damn sweeeeeeeeet
 | AsleepInTheBack Anytime my guy hopefully see you there; I?m the guy with the increasingly unfashionable Justin Bieber haircut and no Jane Doe shirt
 | AsleepInTheBack Sorry to hear that, genuinely. If you need a bit of cash for a ticket given I?m not sure they?re gonna make the trip back to the UK maybe ever idk lemme know, I can ping you some wonga.
 | AsleepInTheBack I am seeing Botch in London in March are you seeing Botch in London in March?
 | DadKungFu Just creeped your ratings and indeed you have but no Plastic Soul Impalement?
 | Holy s*** have you heard Training For Utopia?
 | AsleepInTheBack Nw my guy tho I have a literal extended month to get through first but based on what I like ima be hopping into your list and asking for further tailored recs
 | AsleepInTheBack Did you mean to send me your metal list I already know that you are being a silly silly, silly
 | bighubbabuddha Pretty good thanks Mort., here's a choc chip cookie :))
 | PotsyTater Bruh quit Sputnik and go back to discord this place is ****ing washed if ur gonna waste time at least do it with homies who love you
 | JohnnyoftheWell lol what a heap of cringe. send it to the meds and get back on discord
 | PotsyTater Mort can you be done sad now and come home
 | Spec I think that album is sort of a ?you had to be there? type deal; I loooooove it. Yeah man I don?t know what?s going on with Distort but it?s bloody annoying. I don?t know how to contact the manager of music but I?ll keep trying.
 | Pheromone i am here i am love u i am stress i am post more
 | Dedes Both lol. Tbh I got to thinking of it after jamming Dying Wish cause they're in a muchhhh more shred-centric vein of that style and they're goated as hell. Really under the radar and only had one album
 | Dedes Have you ever checked Culling the Weak
 | BitterJalapenoJr Glad to hear it man. Funny you mention Good Luck - it always brings back nostalig images to be brain, particularly the last minute or so where Jamie and Hannah's vocals are intertwined rather than before where they get a verse each. You could have been enjoying Reuben months ago - I shoutboxed you on the 28th of May this year to see if you'd heard of the band as you are a post hardcore aficionado but had no ratings for them.
 | BitterJalapenoJr Check out the other 2 albums too. The debut and the one you are one are better than the middle album. It's less experimental and more no-nonsense.
 | BitterJalapenoJr and what are your thoughts? They were a mainstay of my mid 00s teenage listening.
 | BitterJalapenoJr https://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=201640I have removed an artist I was not enjoying from this list challenge and replaced with Shiner (sitting at number 30). The challenege has been going for a little under a year and the aim is to complete by close of 2024.
 | BitterJalapenoJr All in good time my friend. They're too good to hurry the ratings and I'm in Squarepusher mode today.
 | BitterJalapenoJr Because I've been doing as you plead everyone does - checking Shiner and realising what I've been missing for twenty years
 | CamiloG Muscle Cars is quite good. My picks are the opener and Mea Culpa. Amazing record! Now I?m heading to Shudder to Think
 | CamiloG Oh man! I loved Suburban Hymns, probably more than the 3 Shiner records
 | CamiloG Great bro! I?ll check that after I?m done with Shiner. Awesome recs all around
 | CamiloG Hey bro I?m ready to hit Shiner?s discog, should I go chronologically?
 | artiswar Johhny's a total weirdo but I think he's a good user. Don't bully him too much unless it's really funny
 | artiswar You gave me a really good laugh today. I didn't know you were such a funny cheeky a$$hole, good job
 | CamiloG Glad you enjoyed it! I totally recommend you check Perfect from Now On, one of my favorite Indie Rock albums. Yeah! I?m really digging Failure, Magnified is very solid but Fantastic Planet is far superior. I still suggest you check it
 | CamiloG Great! They have a very solid discog. Did you checked Built to Spill?
 | CamiloG I just finished Fugazi's discog run. Incredible band. And now I?m into Failure, Fantastic Planet blew me away, incredible record. I?ll check their whole discog too. Thanks for the recs my man!
 | AsleepInTheBack Perfect rec thank you - review incoming if I can find the words tho it seems like a weirdly difficult record to summarise without doing some sort of 10 para monster which I hate
 | AsleepInTheBack Oooh interesting thank you you are a gentleman and a scholar, may review if it?s Gouda
 | AsleepInTheBack dont worry i will find the list thanks babe. i think some punctuation makes the shout box function die, i think including parenthesis it may be that
 | AsleepInTheBack it is one of my many many many blind spots lol music is big and difficult
 | AsleepInTheBack I would take my rate which a pinch of salt I know nothing about post hardcore and generally dislike anything that leans to close to alt rock, but particularly liked the weird spindly guitar/bass/drum time signature dustiness. Any records you?d recommend for getting into post hardcore? I may do a month list thing on it but idk.
 | FreakMachine Well, I thank you then for that. But regardless, the opinions of all these clowns doesn't particularly affect me. Half the time, when I act mad on here it's just to fulfil my typical "skele character" from back in the day. Half the time i'm sat exploring on Starfield chuckling at how pathetic some people can be. Anyway, have a good day man :)
 | FreakMachine It genuinely doesn't bother me, because they're just anonymous people online, and it's a self made bed. It more irritates me when every aspect of my life comes back to 10 years ago. Like, why some clown decides to keep the article from a decade ago of some randomer they interacted with a handful of time online... it's pathetic, and its just a way of making themselves feel better than someone else. Truth is, I have entirely turned my life around, and all the claims in the thread were true. (2/2)
 | FreakMachine it isn't that. As a TLDR, you may recall that I used to make videos about users as offensive as possible? Thats my sense of humor - pure shock value. I made the (admittedly ill advised) call to spend a week last year trolling about how millie bobby brown was hot and some s*** like that. I regret it now, because it has caused me no end of trouble on here. But that, mixed with what I got knocked for back in the day, creates an image in the eyes of users who already want to see that in me. (1/2)
 | FreakMachine assuming it was genuine (you'll understand my paranoia) thank you for that small amount of support in that thread.
 | CamiloG Added to the list! Let me know what you think about Built to Spill if you check 'em
 | CamiloG I think you?re gonna like them, I?d start by Perfect From Now On. I checked Polvo and it blew me away?
 | CamiloG Mort have you hear Built To Spill's Perfect From Now On and Keep it Like a Secret? Both are masterpieces that I think you might enjoy
 | CamiloG Hey man! I'd love some recs. I?m in a deep indie rock excursion at the moment, trying to dig as deep as I can
 | Pheromone yeah i had never gotten that high before heh i am a happy bunny im v glad time to leave uni **** uni love u
