Review Summary: No recess for the negative creeps
Bleach, was always prepared to be in the shadows of Nevermind and In Utero. It found such effectiveness and raw energy, that Nirvana kept so underground, but so fresh for any fan. Bleach's sound is very melodic, it invents a violent sensible forcefulness, that every track is known to have. Kurt Cobain- vocalist, lyricist and guitarist of Nirvana.. brought his anger depressed emotion to his punk rock passion. Black Flag, Melvins, Meat Puppets, Sonic Youth, etc, were just spices.. that brought an influence of insanity and attitude adjustments, that their musicianship and their connected values, had a perfect fit to be persuasive in such an energetic format. The rhythm section by bassist- Krist Novaselic and drummer-Chad Channing are often overlooked in the most abrasive kind of way, you can hear such qualified sections that fit so beautifully for examples in Blew, Love Buzz and Paper Cuts. The techniques, especially the advance grooving and solid beat arrangements, made them a driving force, for such a kick-ass record.
Bleach follows a path that is directional for showing a different side from the abrasive structure. Kurt' being really influenced by REM, The Beatles, etc. That pop/psychedelic texture, that became a logical entrance, for their exclusive sound.. that will later on become iconic. The song, About A Girl, was the first Nirvana ballad.. it brought different vibes and it contrasted them from a unique emotion. That they're musicianship was a dark force, that no one can bare or reasonably judged, caused it spread some such positivity and negativity to you, the only thing that will hit you, was the music.
Bleach is a bearable album for different kinds of people, especially being a debut from a Sub Pop label.. Bleach's sound and emotion is a feel that is filled with so aggression, you look in the mirror and say, I’m a negative creep, reflecting on past society, getting thoughts in your mind.. that is connected so deeply. So much empathy and despair, that Bleach seeks to fill any possibilities that a raw record should have and will always be remember for.
