Nirvana are:
Kurt Cobain: Guitar, Mouth
Krist Novoselic: Bass
Dave Grohl: Drums, Backing Mouth
This album, to me, is like a little of nevermind and a little of bleach. It's like some noise tracks and some not so noisey but still noisey tracks and some softer songs.
To me the highlights are: heart shaped box, rape me, fraces farmer will have her revenge on seattle, pennyroyal tea, and all apologies.
Heart shaped box has a very cool and catchy guitar all the way through. And the bass is perfect for it, I read somewheres that out of every song it was Kurt's favorite bass line. Theres not much to the drums but this is a song that shouldnt have a whole lot of drum fillers and stuff like that.
Rape me, this song has a really simple guitar at the beggining, and when the drum and bass come in they all blend extremely well. The drums are my personal favorite. I really like the lyrics. Kurt had a knack for writing awesome lyrics. At the end its just Kurt screaming rape me and Dave echoing him.
Fraces farmer will have her revenge on seattle, the guitar is definitly my favorite part of this song. The lyrics (once again) are really awesome. The chorus has the best lyrics of the song id say: I miss the comfort in being sad. The bass doesnt really do anything special here (at least i dont think so). The bridge is my personal favorite. I can't really describe how awesome it is. It displays some awesome loud guitar stuff.
Pennyroyal Tea, this song has awesome everything. There is like nothing bad about it, imo. The chorus is really catchy with dave screaming the lyrics with kurt. the bass has awesome fills throughout this song. And the drums are really awesome. The guitar solo is the best part of the song and its really simple and not too long.
All apologies, very awesome and catchy guitar with bass and drums that fit perfectly. This a pretty noiseless track (except for the chorus which isnt that noixsey anyways). The lyrics are very well written. This song is their best no noise song theyve ever written, imo (even though there werent too many not countinh unplugged, which this is on). The lyrics are simple and very awesome. And when the verse comes in with distortion that just makes the song even better then it already was.
The noise tracks are very awesome, but they arent the best on the cd. The best noise track though is Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, which has some very weird guitar and a solid bass and some good drums. Tourettes isnt anything very special and the version on Muddy Banks is better but its still very good. Milk it is definitley the second besst noise track on here. Its got some catchy eveything in it. Scentless apprentice isn't the best but its still pretty good. Its loud and and filled with anger and distortion. I think that very ape is the worst song on the cd. But im gonna have to say its still pretty good. Dumb isnt a noise track and is really good. It shows how good they are at not just being noise and distortion (like all apologies). Its very catchy.
Overall this is a great album and i recommend if you like grunge and nirvana to buy it.
