This is a wonderful album. This takes nirvana out of waht they had done with teh whole unplugged aspect. The songs on this cd are all filled with emotion that seems to almost drain you. But the music is top nothc and the singing could neve have more feel. Many guitarists, a bassist, and acordian and even a cello make this a really diferent and enjoyable album to listne to... but iits still nirvana and they are at teh top pf their perfomance on this one. Now to the songs.
About a girl:4/5
A roarous applause and kurdt saying "good evening" start this song off. You fisrt notice the unplugged effect in this sng as it is teh first adn its really cool. The many guitars blend together great in those one and kurdts singing top it off well. The bass part fits in erfect adn the guitar solo is really neat.
Come as You Are:4.5/5
One of my personal Nirvana favorites the famous bass line comes after much applause ad its the best version fo it as far as i can tell. Kurdts singing is er... not the best here. but teh music is stil a great isten. Daves deum rolls are perfect and really add to the song. the guitar is good. SO ooverall thisis teh best version fo teh song instrumentally but the singing is not! Still wonderful though. Kiler bass line!
Jesus Doesnt Want me for a Sunbeam: 3/5
This is a very different song for nirvana. it is an old cover of a vaselines song. Krist plays the acordian in this one and its jsut very different. This is really not one of my favorite songs but it isnt bad. I dont liek it bt i accept taht it is st diferent and still good music. The bass is not much in this one though adn not really much of a guitar part. Accordian tops it all.
THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD:5/5
After this album this song became an instant nirvana classic and for good measure! I cant even begin to explain how aweosme ths song is. It is a cover of a david bowie song but nirvana is its new master! This song starts out wiht an amazing guitar riff frrom curdt adn tehn cpomes the bass in a very good adn fairly complex bass part. Great basss fills adn a wondorous guitar part make this an awesome listen... the lyics are neat too. The best song on here in my opinion! If u dont know nirvana this song will make you a fan.
Pennyroyal Tea: 4/5
This is jsut kurdt. All him on his own playing so it rally get yo his feel of misery in a way. It has almost a drousy feel but his voice is just... it really digs into you. His guitar playing is simple but right with the song and fairly neat.
Dumb: 3/5
Starting with the bass and kurdt singing this starts off pretty mellow and stays about eh same all through... as with all fo nirvanas songs though teh lyrics are jsut... really good. It is jsut a simple song and not eh best... but i liek it never-the-less.
Polly: 3.5/5
This is a grat version of this song, Good guitar.. wierd though cause to me the beginning souds a whole lot like lithium. Anyway its really good. The lyricsare jsut weird.
On a Plain: 2.5/5
like in my rating this song is jsut average...a t least it is to me. Its not bad it jsut sounds liek a mix of a few other songs on here without any real flair. its sill a decent listen. its jsut average.. nt much to it. I dont listen to this one much.
Something in the Way: 4.75/5
This song really shoes the depressed side of kurdt... the lyrics and jsut the whole sog has a really erie feel to it. Its amost scary in a way. it i ssung well and you can tell it rally pours from kurdts heart.
Plateu: 4.5/5
This song is really simple. The bass part is basic... just two notes but it drives the rest of the song in really neat ways. Simple guitar part here too but very fittng... it blends great wiht the bass. Good singing here from kurdt too and nventive lyrics make this a choice pick.
Oh me: 4.25/5
This is a neat song. There is some cool guitar work here as well that i really like. Good solid singing and again neat lyrics upon some grat guitar work make this a good pick.
Lake Of Fire: 3.5
I guess that this song is about hell and i cannot tell totally but that what it seems. It is sung well by kurdt here adn has some really neat fancy guitar bits. not the best here but still great.
All Apologies:5/5
A great bright guitar riff makes this great song from beginning to end. Sung with heart and the bass part is good. This is another nirvana classic and jsut cant be missed. I cant explain why this one is so good it jst is... trust me!
WHERE DID YOU SLEEP LAST NIGHT:4.99/5
Starts simply with a seemingly simle guitar part... and it is. THis is a longer song but its excellent. The words are really excellent and ful of fell. then towards teh end wiht kurdt absolutely screamin "MY GIRL, MY GIRL, WHERE DID YOU SLEEP LAST NIGHT!!??" it is jsut shocking. He scream it perfectly in note wiht such emotion hardly believeable. It ends the cd on an erie note. A beutiful song.
So there it is folks. Mt Unplugged. A really great album that nay nirvan fan should pick up.. even if u dont liek nirvan its still ag reat album. Full of emotion and the cello adn other instruments make it a really great listen. So check this one out!
